Saw all the great reviews for HuRook here on Yelp so came in with my daughter to check them out. The inside is very organized, streamlined, and clean! Being a (mostly) self-serve ramen place, you start by choosing your ramen noodles flavor profile from the very large selection that takes up about half the length of one of the walls. From there, you go to the register/counter to pick any premium add-ons (things like kimchi, radishes, cheese, corn, spam, boiled eggs). They do have a small cooler with free add-ons (lemon, chopped onions, jalapeños , bean/ sprouts, green onions). You pay for your selections and the worker gives you a paper bowl and you move on to the DIY ramen preparation station. You follow the directions there and you're good to go. For a base price of $6.45, this is not a bad deal. It's a nice comfort food. To us, it was somewhere between a snack and a light meal. If you're super hungry, one bowl isn't gonna do it for you. As we were DIYing our ramen, I noticed a sesame ramen and a cheese ramen that sounded intriguing. We'll have to come back to try those soon. read more

HuRook it's a really cool concept that drives most of its business from the local high schools and middle school. Seven dollars for a bowl of noodles of any type you can imagine. I've wanted to try so many types of Ramen, but I don't wanna commit to buying a full tray of them. Here is the solution. The owner was there when we were there and she is amazing! So friendly, so helpful and a real treat to be around. The restaurant was impeccably clean, and the ice cups for the drinks were ready to go. I got a package of Tom Yum flavored soup noodles and added some free ingredients: fresh sliced white, onions, green onions, and bean sprouts for some crunch. They also had mayonnaise and a few other items to add as well as multiple types of hot sauce. A neat experience on a cold day. read more

10/10 experience definitely come and try here! When i came in the owner was there and she was an absolute angel. Asked us if it was our first time, showed us how everything worked and gave the best suggestions. I tried the cheesy flavor, added egg and cheese and put some of the free topping they offered. OHHH it was so good! We paid around $21 for two instant noodles, two drinks and two of the 'add on' toppings. A steal! She also gave a free buldok sauce sample to add in. Very very sweet and welcoming and they keep the place stocked and SO clean! A must try experience :) read more

Delicious! They have the Korean pouches drink too. My favorite was the watermelon flavor. It complimented so well with my spicy ramen I added kimchee for my toppings. Yummers! Toppings are always a plus :) Child friendly choices of non-spicy noodles too. My kid ate the black bean noodles We also got Microwavable kimbap and dukk bok ki rose cup. Come in. Grab and ice cup. Pick up a tray. Pick your beverages (fun flavors in the pouches near the noodles) pick a noodles. Bring your tray with your items to pay, premium toppings available for purchase ; I got egg, fish cake and dumplings. Staff is so friendly and helpful. Instructions are listed however she came by to help me as a first timer. There are also a few complimentary toppings available; I added onion, green onion and jalepenos. Cooking time is 2-4 mins. My daughter and I stopped for lunch on a Sunday. It was the first time we tried a ramen place like this. The young lady working was incredibly friendly and helpful. She walked us through the process. Been curious wanting to try a self-serve noodle shop that's been popping up online. I've now already eaten here three times to get my instant ramyeon fix! My favorite is the Jin ramyeon! The attendant there is very polite and helpful. The place is very well kept and clean. You grab your desired pack out of the many Japanese and Korean brands to choose from. Select any additional toppings (cheese, egg, spam, kimchi, etc) for a small fee. After you pay, you get your bowl and cook on their induction machine. Instructions are fairly easy to follow. Time depends on the thickness of the noodle, but should be ready within 3-4 minutes. Word of caution, if you aren't into spicy noodles, do not put the entire sauce or seasoning packet unless you want to burn your mouth. They also have toppings for no extra charge such as bean sprouts, lemon, scallions, and cilantro. They also have gimbap and frozen desserts as well as many different flavored beverages. If you want to try something new, this is a great place to check out! read more

I just had lunch at HuRook and I can't wait to come back and share it with others! I wasn't sure how an instant ramen restaurant would work, but the owner was so incredibly helpful and walked me through picking out my ramen (they have an entire wall of choices!), choosing toppings, and using the instant ramen machines. The restaurant and bathrooms are super clean, they play fun music and videos, and I had a delicious, filling lunch for less than $10! Highly recommend! read more

The place is very nice, clean and cozy. The lady (not sure if she's the owner) was super welcoming and helpful. She recommended us different ramens and guided us through how to use the machines. She, presumably the store owner, was a very nice lady, and she was exceptionally helpful and kind! The atmosphere of the place is much better than Seoul Street at Brea Mall, much bigger too. Such a clean, cozy, ambient, and delicious place to enjoy different varieties of ramens, snacks, and beverages. Ramen is always cooked to perfection using the machine and it's super fun to watch as well. Nice environment with ample parking space to enjoy ramen and snacks by yourself and/or with friends. Self service noodle stations with a wide variety of noodles to choose from, reasonably priced toppings to add on, relaxing atmosphere. If you need a place to get an inexpensive bowl of noodles, a drink, or a nice snack, it's a great place to go! Will be coming back soon. read more

The place offers a wide selection of instant noodles, and the store setup is clean and chic. The staff member was cheerful and friendly. We sincerely hope that it will succeed in the long run. But the current business model can perhaps be improved to offer better value (or at least the optics of better value). Right now, you pay for the ramen pack, and all other toppings are extra (except for things like green onions and chili pepper). At $6 per pack, this is seemingly a very large straight mark-up of a store-bought instant noddle pack without much "value added", other than the cool cooking process. We suggest that at least one or two toppings (small quantity is ok) be included as to create a better value proposition for the customers. We also suggest that the store offers free tap water.
