They moved locations since the last time I was here but it's still a pretty rad concept--a…read morenonprofit resale of craft and art supplies and other goods that can be repurposed and upcycled into art supplies. There's a lot here if you're willing to dig through! There's a vintage area with tons of old, vintage papers, photographs, sheet music, postcards, photo albums, negatives, etc. Loads of scrap fabric and remnants, yarn, embroidery floss, notions, scrap paper, scrapbooking materials, stickers, stencils, even industrial supplies like foam scraps, and household materials like pill bottles (empty of course), lids, jars, storage containers, craft kits, old calendars, big bins of wine corks, pens, etc. They have a HUGE selection of old National Geographic issues, some going back as far as the 1930s. Perfect for collages or collecting. They also have a few machines like scales, microscopes, sewing machines, etc. As well as a few tools, wood and metal working items, just bits and bobs of tons of things to sort through. It changes all the time so stop in regularly to see what they get in! And the best part? It's all SO cheap and keeps all these things out of landfills (56K lbs just last year)! Upcycling FTW! Some things are in better condition than others but if you're the creative type you will be inspired by all you can find here. And since things are so affordable you can really take risks and noodle around without worrying about wasting your supplies. Want more inspo? They also offer workshops and classes to get your creative juices flowing. Swing by and check it all out!

Lots of random trinkets that can be used for many different projects!…read more Unfortunately, I didn't find what I was looking for (something to decorate/sew onto a Christmas stocking). But I would definitely come back! I will take my mom here too as she loves scrapbooking! I was very close to getting an embroidery packet but decided I probably won't have time for it (only $4)!

Loved discovering this sweet bead shop while visiting family over the holidays, will definitely go…read moreback when in the area. The owner was very helpful (I was there multiple times as kept going back for more things for my projects) - I was making pearl and leather necklaces as gifts and they had a very nice selection of the leather and some large drilled pearls- plus the owner showed me a better way to make the knots for my project so they look pretty darn good, if I do say so myself! They offer classes and had a nice selection of beads and findings, as well as examples of finished projects that are inspirational and aspirational- I will definitely be back! Stores like this deserve support- I was very happy to find it!

I rarely leave reviews like this, but more than a few people encouraged me to…read more I have supported Stony Creek Beads for years. Attending classes and purchasing materials from this store. The owner was very distant, not helpful, friendly, or talkative. I assumed that it would change because I knew that I would become a regular customer. I even brought my son to support her business, who is autistic and loves making things using beads. We have spent a lot of money there. I had to come to the conclusion that I will never receive a warm reception from her. I have seen her smile and greet other customers differently. When I come in she says "hi", and immediately tends to whatever craft she's working on, doesn't show me around, make any suggestions, and responses to any of my questions are extremely short ("yes", "no", "over there"). I am not one to play the race card, but I honestly can't think of anything else that set me and my son apart from any other customer other than the color of our skin, especially since we have supported her business for so long. Sometimes she acts as if she doesn't know us at all. This review doesn't have to be anonymous, because the owner will undoubtedly know who I am. There is another review that confirms my suspicion by an Anonymous Lady on Google reviews that is 5 years old, so I know that I'm not crazy. It's sad.

Why did it take me so long to finally decide to stop by the new location? I always told myself I was too busy. But yesterday I finally told myself, "Just for a little while." Glad I did! The owner is friendly. Oh, I wish my memory were better. I think her name is Arlene. Please forgive me if I got it wrong. I told her that I'm mainly into quilting. She said that a lot of crazy quilters come to her for beads. Crazy quilting uses a lot of embroidery and embellishments such as beads and charms, with the patterns of the fabric providing background interest. She told me that I could bring my bracelet repair project and work on it there, to get advice, because she knows so much more about beading than I do, and also in case I just need a few beads to finish. I'm gonna do that. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bead-Alley-Saline-MI/164092560298590

The owner was very knowledgable about different types of beads and various stitches. Only two small complaints: 1) the space is a bit cramped which made it a little difficult to maneuver 2) they currently only accept cash or check, but the owner said that next week she should have the new card reader up and running. I will definitely be returning!

Elevated Press is absolutely amazing. Michelle and Peter are two of the nicest people you could ask…read moreto work with and extremely professional and "on top of it" to boot. I came in with a very scattershot idea of what I wanted for my wedding invitations and Michelle very patiently listened to my thoughts and expertly guided me through choosing paper and figuring out what I wanted more exactly design-wise. (Keep in mind that you can also come in with a print-ready design and they'll print it up for you! I highly, highly recommend their design work though--SO beautiful.) Throughout the design and printing process Michelle kept me updated on every development through email and responded quickly with any questions I had. At one point I thought I might have to make a last minute change, but then realized I didn't, and she very gamely accomodated my waffling, even offering to rush order a new plate for super-cheap if I needed it. The entire process from first meeting to getting the invites in my hands took about 5 weeks, so make sure you give yourself ample time if you're interested in their services. Also--it ain't cheap, but it is so, so worth it. Each invitation is truly a work of art and people have been going nuts over how amazing they look. I cannot recommend Elevated Press highly enough! Such a wonderful resource to have in Ann Arbor.
