The parking is kind of tough especially if you get there late. The parking lot was pretty full. I did manage to find parking further to the back. It was a little walk but that's okay. I entered the stadium via the gate. I did find out that you are not allowed allowed to bring packages in that are certain size. You also had to have a clear package in order to enter. We quickly found a seat pretty close to the field. I was surprised that the other side of the field seating was empty. There are a lot of people but it is a small venue when you compare it to a big house. There is food that you can order at various food trucks and some lines are longer at some food trucks than others but the weight was short at the one I went to. I ordered pizza from Little Caesars and sat down. There was a regular guest that visited the games that had an extra seat with padding. He offered them to me and my friend and we sat in style while we watched the game. That was pretty cool. Leaving the game was pretty easy and safe because they had designated areas to cross with a police presence. I'm glad I checked it out and attended.

On day 2 I spent the full 10h marathon of dancing even there was a bit of rain it wasn't that cold anymore. Movement 2025: A Spiritual Reckoning in Four On the Floor…read more I would've written this sooner, but my weekend itinerary was stacked: pedicure, wax, hair trim, stomach pump, and three hours in a sensory deprivation tank in Sterling Heights, where I may or may not have briefly died. That reminds me of the previous NDE I had toward the tail-end of May...my annual tradition of face-planting somewhere festive. Memorial Day weekend in Detroit is sacred. It's the only time of year when it's socially acceptable to fall face-first off a deck and a stage in the same 48 hours, provided you're wearing sunglasses, sunscreen, and a plausible expression of joy. I don't attend Movement. I haunt it. I materialize at Hart Plaza like a low-frequency apparition in a kimono and hot pants. I never have a wristband, yet I am everywhere: main stage, the VIP section, behind the frozen lemonade truck, briefly in the Detroit River (don't ask). This year's lineup was decent, I guess. Could've been better. I say that every year, and yet every year I end up on my knees in front of a subwoofer in the rave cave like I'm worshipping the bass as a wrathful deity. At one point, a man in a mesh tank top tried to sell me "artisanal molly" in a prescription bottle labeled Wellbutrin. I declined. Not because I don't party, but because I'd just inhaled some truly heroic rails off a stranger's god-tier cleavage and was waiting to see what happened (again, don't ask). Festival highlights included: - Being called "Ma'am" by a child in a bucket hat before he handed me a blunt. - Interrupting a set to demand the DJ play "Prince Ali" (1992 OG version, of course) and somehow succeeding, despite a crowd that clearly wasn't ready for Agrabah basslines. - Hearing "Deep Inside" and feeling every bad decision I've ever made vibrating in my spine and cervix. - Watching a man in full leather assless chaps negotiate a porta-potty truce with Grandma Techno (she easily bested him after she mowed him down with her Rascal). My Movement prep list for 2025: - Industrial-strength saline mist and tissues for when you get hit with a pesky Colombian cold - Emergency slutty outfit (weather inappropriate, crotchless, fierce) - Vintage Adderall (orange ovals for life, baybeeeeee) - Laminated list of local bail bondsmen - 1 tube of Vicks for the "traditional" reasons - Bra with enough secret hiding places to make the Underground Railroad blush By Monday night, I was 78% wild animal, 22% polite enough to order food without frightening the staff. My phone had a shattered screen, 4% battery, and 87 unanswered texts, most of them asking either "Are you still alive?" or "Who the fuck is Judith Merkintosh?" To answer the former: barely, but beautifully. To answer the latter: I'm a public service announcement with great tits and a world-class vagina. Just ask anyone at Regulars' Night. Yes... anyone. Five stars. See you next year. Or sooner, if you check the dumpster behind The Lex... or catch me doing the Friday morning Walk of Shame down Trumbull, still holding a frozen lemonade I didn't pay for.

Awesome auditorium on the Eastern Michigan campus…read more Tonight was my first time visiting for an Art Spiegelman lecture and I was impressed by how beautiful it was. Definitely wasn't expecting it to look as awesome as it did. The crazy organ pipes at the back of the stage made a wonderful backdrop for all the photos I snuck with my cell phone! It's nice because it's big but not huge. It feels like you could probably have a good view no matter where you are and the acoustics are fantastic. A good mid-sized venue. They don't have a ton of events or shows there but there have been some impressive acts that have come through recently (most notably Gotye and Phoenix within the last year and half and the Killers and Russell Brand in the past). Some of the feedback on here has centered around the seats being small and cramped but I have a bad back and long legs and I felt okay tonight? But then again I was also REALLY into the lecture so maybe I just didn't notice. I was also in the second row and it may be tighter in rows further back? I'm not sure. But I thought it was ok. Overall a great auditorium that I hope to catch a show at again in the future.

Accoustics are very good here, too. On the downside, the seating is small and cramped. It was built to pack in a lot of people, and doesn't have a lot of leg room for anyone over about 5'6". On the whole, though, if you get a chance to see an event here, go for it. It's a truly beautiful venue.

2026-06-28. Tec-troit, Detroit…read more This year marks Tec-troit's 16th year with its humble beginnings back in 2011. The event has always been free and open to people of all ages. A space and venue for all tech-heads to come out and experience live performances as musicians showcase their talents. Today was the last day of the 3-day festival for 2026. While the event is open to all ages, the venue is mature in theme and children MUST be accompanied by an adult. No dress code in effect, but make sure you dress appropriately for the weather as it is an outdoor venue with no sheltered spaces. The do serve alcohol using a wrist band policy, and you need to have valid ID to get a wristband. All participants are screened via hand held metal detectors and Detroit's finest are also on the scene to ensure a safe environment for all. Food trucks are also on site should anyone get the munchies. All food is made to order and this year featured stone-oven pizza, South American fare, and a Hershey's ice cream wagon to name a few. There is a kiddie corner section away from the alcoved-stages in a grassy area. A picnic table with games and pavement chalk are available in addition to jumbo Jenga blocks, cornhole, and a writing wall. You CANNOT leave your children unattended here. It's a kids area, not a baby sitter. There is no attendant, so if you do bring little ones, you need to take them with you when you visit the stages. It will be a good idea to get them some noise cancelling headphones as the beats can get quite loud by the stages. Rest room facilities are in the form of port-a-potties secludedly lined up near the entrance and away from the venues and the kids area. There is plenty of free parking and the venue is located at 1151 Taylor St. (The Container Globe). It's a 3-day event and artists and vendors vary from year to year.
