I did like that there is a bathroom right in the hall so my son didn't have to go far. Although food and drinks were located at one end of the hall and once we got to our seats it was hard to get back over there once the place filled up with people. They had meet and greets with some of the performers and they just had them at tables along the walls. You could pay right there for a picture or autograph. Wrestling is more my husbands thing, but even I really enjoyed the show. Although the chandeliers above the ring made me nervous! Lol.

She was sold on the place and Shai's pleasant attitude and willingness to work with her and her fiancée's vision for the reception. Her reception was delayed due to covid, Shai left, and she had to work with new management/coordinator (Steve). Steve made it known that he did not like working wedding receptions and seemed to blame Shai that there were wedding receptions in the facility. He mentioned this to me as we were setting up the day before our daughter's big day. I had an inkling prior to the day that he was not going to be pleasant to work with based on conversations my daughter had with him to confirm everything. She was disappointed he replaced Shai. She was told she could not do this or that (no potted plants on the floor, no lighting effects on walls - she had to hire someone else to do this) and they had already taken their $5000 deposit. The venue offers use of rectangular tables, but my daughter wanted to have both round and rectangular, so she rented additional round tables. As we started to set up the tables, I asked him where the rest of the rectangular tables were because he only had 5 on a cart ready for set up. He proceeded to tell me he didn't know how many were needed, he said he wasn't told. I responded back, what do you mean you weren't told, you provided the layout on pdf that my daughter shared with the rest of us to use for set up! We, not him, then had to get the rest of the tables from the kitchen area after he told us where to get them. Another uncalled for frustration was table rental pick up. Steve told my daughter that the tables and chairs had to be removed from the floor after party and set aside in the pick up area so the table/chair rental folks could pick them up the following Sunday morning. This was fine, my daughter made arrangements to hire a cleanup team to do this. Two days before the event, the table/chair rental company called Steve to confirm drop off and pick up, Steve then tells the table/chair rental company that they had to pick up the tables and chairs Saturday night. Hello Steve! The wedding reception contract was from 5pm Saturday - 12 midnight! So had to deal with this. There were many little things, no effort at all was made by him to offer information. Our daughter's wedding coordinator was not happy with his lack of effort to help. Luckily, everything fell into place and the celebration was a success. The venue is unique and has so much potential. But there were just so many negative comments made by him that it is not worth to time and energy to have to deal with.He was not helpful, not conscientious, had bad attitude. Lazy. Too bad because the venue is really awesome and he represents the place.

That reminds me of the previous NDE I had toward the tail-end of May...my annual tradition of face-planting somewhere festive. Memorial Day weekend in Detroit is sacred. It's the only time of year when it's socially acceptable to fall face-first off a deck and a stage in the same 48 hours, provided you're wearing sunglasses, sunscreen, and a plausible expression of joy. I don't attend Movement. I haunt it. I materialize at Hart Plaza like a low-frequency apparition in a kimono and hot pants. I never have a wristband, yet I am everywhere: main stage, the VIP section, behind the frozen lemonade truck, briefly in the Detroit River (don't ask). This year's lineup was decent, I guess. Could've been better. I say that every year, and yet every year I end up on my knees in front of a subwoofer in the rave cave like I'm worshipping the bass as a wrathful deity. At one point, a man in a mesh tank top tried to sell me "artisanal molly" in a prescription bottle labeled Wellbutrin. I declined. Not because I don't party, but because I'd just inhaled some truly heroic rails off a stranger's god-tier cleavage and was waiting to see what happened (again, don't ask). Festival highlights included: - Being called "Ma'am" by a child in a bucket hat before he handed me a blunt. - Interrupting a set to demand the DJ play "Prince Ali" (1992 OG version, of course) and somehow succeeding, despite a crowd that clearly wasn't ready for Agrabah basslines. - Hearing "Deep Inside" and feeling every bad decision I've ever made vibrating in my spine and cervix. - Watching a man in full leather assless chaps negotiate a porta-potty truce with Grandma Techno (she easily bested him after she mowed him down with her Rascal). My Movement prep list for 2025: - Industrial-strength saline mist and tissues for when you get hit with a pesky Colombian cold - Emergency slutty outfit (weather inappropriate, crotchless, fierce) - Vintage Adderall (orange ovals for life, baybeeeeee) - Laminated list of local bail bondsmen - 1 tube of Vicks for the "traditional" reasons - Bra with enough secret hiding places to make the Underground Railroad blush By Monday night, I was 78% wild animal, 22% polite enough to order food without frightening the staff. My phone had a shattered screen, 4% battery, and 87 unanswered texts, most of them asking either "Are you still alive?" or "Who the fuck is Judith Merkintosh?" To answer the former: barely, but beautifully. To answer the latter: I'm a public service announcement with great tits and a world-class vagina. Just ask anyone at Regulars' Night. Yes... anyone. Parking close by, access to major highways, the rooms are of varying sizes so they can suit whatever audience volumes, etc. The local IT was very helpful in getting the HDMI connection setup and also providing WiFi resolution. I plan on recommending several user groups in the area to look into using this venue.
