The family and I staycationed in Lexington this weekend, and hung out to watch their Memorial Day Parade. Afterwards we headed straight to the Huron Street Cafe, as I wanted to give them a try before we left. I'm very glad that we did. Even with the weekend event we were seated right away. Our hostess did give immediate notice that there was a 30 min wait for orders from the kitchen, but that was fine with us since we weren't in any rush. The menu was simple with classic diner breakfast options, and the restaurant itself had a great charm. I was actually surprised at how comfortable their "wicker" chairs were, and everything was bright and clean. The staff was great too! Even with there being a rush, they handled everything with grace, humor and kindness. For sure a team working together to keep things running smoothly. When placing my order I quickly brought up my food allergies/intolerances, as I have quite a few. I was aware that they could not 100% guarantee no cross contamination, as one severe sensitivity of mine is wheat, but after choosing my safest option (The Huron Street Special), they promised to be as safe a possible. I'm happy to say that I left without having any food reactions, neither then, nor delayed onset. So big thank you to them for that! The food was served in large portions and was absolutely delicious. The pancakes are huge and fluffy, and I rather enjoyed the home fries. I would say they are fair and moderately priced. I will definitely be returning in our next visit to town. read more

We breezed into town on a whirlwind trip through the Thumb. The Thumb is a distinct part of Michigan, where our argicultural history blends with our Great Lakes (Huron) tourism economy. We came to the Huron Street Cafe for lunch, but ended up intrigued with the "Breakfast All Day" options. This is a simple idea that really opens up the menu options--more places should try it. We ended up getting a Mushroom and Bacon omellette and a Salmon Sandwich. Oh, and an extra order of bacon, just because. Both were really great. The service was extremely attentive and the staff was very friendly. Everything you would ever want in a friendly, casual, homey cafe. The atmosphere is relaxed, casual and very positive. Made us want to linger and chat. And it made me realize how few food places these days are truly welcoming. The Huron Street Cafe is, and I strongly encourage you to try it. read more

I enjoyed looking at the interior of the restaurant and the conversion of the building that once was the Lions Hall was a great success! I had a Perfect Storm breakfast plate and the food made from kitchen to table was delicious! It never disappoints when I had the food consumed. Service was excellent! The server was friendly with the customers and takes the time to fill coffee cups sparingly! First impression upon arrival nicely decorated, clean restaurant.. Service was very slow going and curt.. Food was absolutely awful, pub fish and chips, nothing more than cheap frozen triangular garbage , I'm guessing Swai fish, I requested my fries to be well cooked, they arrived soggy and tasted re cooked most of them being on the cooler side.. I ask about a bread basket, servers response was no we don't do that here and walked away, she never offered a refill on my drink, she did check on my meal, I did tell her I was extremely unhappy with my dinner, her response oh I'm sorry and walked away, only reason I finished my meal is because I was starving and at $15 something a plate I couldn't justify throwing it out! We are locals to Lexington and just discovered the Huron Street Cafe last week and have already been back 3x! That's how good it is! We ordered the regular Eggs Benedict and the Perfect Storm the first time for breakfast, the southwestern egg rolls, kickin' thai shrimp and tater tachos the second time for lunch, and the Eggs Benedict on crab cakes and biscuits and gravy the most recent visit for breakfast. First of all, the service is impeccable! Every time we've visited, it was a full house, but we were always immediately greeted by Anastasia, the bubbly and vibrant hostess who quickly seated us. The waitresses are also so thoughtful and friendly, giving this cafe the perfect ambiance! Everything we ordered was delicious! The eggs were cooked to perfection - not too runny or firm, the shrimp was tangy and crunchy, the eggs rolls were very unique with some spice in the dipping sauce, and the tachos were absolutely amazing with the perfect amount of crunch and sauce! My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy and the Perfect Storm and he only let me take a tiny bite because he loved them so much! He said it was the best Biscuits and Gravy he's ever had! The location is easily accessible from main street with its own private parking! We love that this cafe is oozing with delightful small-town vibes and so happy with the large variety and yummy taste! The ambiance was cute, they had signs with nice sayings up all around and the restaurant is attached to a little store with some cute decorative items as well. The service was just alright. The place was fairly empty because we came in around 3pm but our waitress seemed distracted. She didn't refill our waters without specifically asking, she forgot the ketchup and hot sauce we asked for twice. She was very sweet, but seemed preoccupied with something else. The food was hot and fresh, but the taste was alright. The breakfast burrito was pretty plain and lacked flavor, the chicken and rice soup was a miss because it tasted more like broth made with water than chicken stock. The buffalo chicken grilled cheese was delicious. The bread was crispy and the chicken was tender. The bacon could've been cooked a little crispier, but overall it was tasty. The fries were asked to be well done but weren't. Streak fries are difficult to get crispy though so they get a pass. read more

Had to pick up a Christmas gift in town and decided to grab a bite so we chose the Cafe. It's connected to a cool gift shop so that's a plus! It was fairly quiet so we were promptly seated given menus and drink orders taken. It's cool comfy little place really clean..kinda looks like the gift shop spilled over into the restaurant which gives it a unique vibe.. the food was delicious well prepared and house made, they even use real butter on the toast! Not whirl or some other yellow substance that most places use. Pictured is a western omelette and my wife's cinnamon apple French Toast. We wanted breakfast but the rest of the menu opportunities look great as well and the prices are reasonable. Check this little place out when in Lexington you'll be glad u did. read more

Currently waiting an hour or longer for our food. The waitress came up and told us she didn't send the order. She then asked if we wanted to wait for our food that would be 5 or 10 minutes. We said yes. 20 minutes later, we are still waiting to eat. People have came in after us and ate and left. She mentioned she would take the Coke I ordered off our meal. What? That's it? Not to mention I asked for another Coke and haven't received that yet. I walked outside because I'm obviously irritated and the waitress is currently talking on the phone outside in the back of the restaurant. Ridiculous. Never again! Avoid if you don't want to waste your day sitting and waiting for your food! Update, after 1 1/2 hours of waiting for our food and no Coke refill, we left. Waste of time! Update 2: Walked to Windjammer and was served immediately and the food was there quickly. Do better Huron Street Cafe. I certainly hope whoever is in charge has a discussion with their staff. read more

Been here several times and it was pretty good the first time. Food took a while and they were not very busy.... Every time after that something was wrong with food...and or slooow service. I may try it one more time for coffee and a small bite but I don't like wasting my money on food that isn't suitable to even bring home to heat in microwave! Ambiance is fair...but I go to eat and get going. The cook and servers need to be re-evaluated. I've been here twice now and I'm not impressed. For breakfast I tried the eggs Benedict- tastes like a premade sauce and not a good one. Potatoes were terrible and when the owner asked how my food was I told her they tasted terrible. She just kept saying "they refresh, I watched them cut the potatoes this morning " I tried to show her all the plates going back to the kitchen either potatoes still on them to no avail. Potatoes may be fresh but whatever they are doing to them is bad. My kid had the pancakes with fresh berries. Ok so it says a fresh berry compote if you read closely - but it didn't taste fresh, tastes like pie filling dumped out of the can, covered the pancakes, kid couldn't eat them. . . Prices are pretty high, quality and flavor is low. I won't be going back. read more

This place is a hidden gem! We are local to Lexington and just discovered it. The southwest egg rolls were so fresh! My favorite thing I tried. The shell was soft and puffy they didn't taste like they were frozen and then fried. The walleye was flaky and delicious. The Alfredo was creamy and the chicken was cooked perfectly. I hardly ever eat leftovers and I took it home and had the rest of it a few hours later. I also had chicken lemon rice soup that came with my meal which was super good. The atmosphere is awesome in here! You would never know by the outside. All of the decor on the walls is for sale which was very neat. The restaurant itself is very clean and not super pricey. Wait staff is very attentive. We didn't have to ask for refills or wait a long time for anything. I would highly recommend checking this place out. I will be back! read more

We had the Harbor salad which is in essence a salad many older people will recognize as a Hudson's Maurice Salad which was made for"ladies who lunched" in downtown Detroit. If you are in a hurry or hungry, this is not the place for you. Coffee was good. That was the highlight of the meal. Wait staff was ok. We waited over an hour for an over breaded fish sandwich and grilled cheese made with what appeared to be Kraft singles. My spoon was dirty with a piece of paper stuck to it. Stirred my coffee with a fork. After we sat there an hour, the waitress seemed to disappear. Had to ask for more water. No apology was offered for the incredibly long wait.
