The Food is ok not great. You would think after waiting an hour it be something to share. It not. It is not bad it just not a hour wait type of place. If people have wait so long they probably be so hungry they think anything is great. It small local restaurants that cook out a small kitchen. They take 45 to 60 minutes to cook your food. So if you have any 1 hr to wait for table and another 1 hr to have your food cooked for you it a ok place to eat. read more

We finally managed to secure a spot for dinner in this secret little slice of beef heaven!! It was well worth the wait. Appetizer..fried lobster tails..incredible. Nice cuts of steak to choose from...we shared the ribeye and they graciously cooked to our liking (two different temperatures). Our neighboring table had the filet and I just say..I had some serious meat covet happening. Next time.. So many side items to enjoy, our favorites were the mashed garlic butter potatoes, sautéed mushrooms and the grilled asparagus. I feel confident in saying there are likely very few things on the menu I would not consume. The service was impeccable (thank you, Cecilia) and we will definitely return at least monthly!! I'm probably not going to get good feedback about this and some people my say I don't know what I'm talking about. The steaks that we ordered were cooked right but no seasoning no taste and the outside of the steaks were seared a little too much. Our server wasn't friendly AT ALL! She acted like she didn't want to be there. She couldn't even get our drink order right (probably because she wasn't listening). When my husband went up to her to ask for 2 empty cups, she said what do you want! We had to mix our half swt unswt teas ourselves. She didn't even check on us until the end by saying yall need anything and gave us our check. After waiting for years to make time to see what all the hype was about. This place is very easy to pass by because it's really just a small, dingy building EXCEPT for the lot full of cars. The inside is a really small space with mostly 4 tops but the food. Oh, the food makes it worth it. A couple things to know: -they won't seat incomplete parties -they're 'not responsible' for steaks cooked well done (not sure what that means) -they make their own steak sauce (kind of like A-1 but slightly spicier) I ordered the small filet, rare with mushrooms and a baked potato. Rare here MEANS rare so if you don't want it walked through a warm room for rare then order it medium rare. There's a seasoning they put on there prior to grilling that sears itself to the meat and I usually HATE seasoning of any kind on my steaks but this one was pretty understated but tasty. I didn't use the sauce at all on the steak-I put a little of it on my potato to taste it. read more

Hunter's Pub and Steakhouse is truly a hole in the wall place out in the middle of nowhere. You run across this place not expecting the super long wait of the great food. First of all, get there early. They open at 5pm. People start lining up at 4:30. If you have a larger group, you want to get there closer to the 4:30 side so you can guarantee you'll have a place to sit in the first seating. Otherwise you may have to wait an hour or two. The line is usually 30-40 people deep by the time they open at 5. They always have fried lobster tails as a special. Order the fried lobster tails. You have the option of getting 3 as an appetizer, a fried lobster tail meal or adding on a fried lobster tail to your meal. We always get the appetizer order because it is a better deal. The lobster tails are served with this delicious grainy mustard sauce that goes great with the lobster and anything else you want to dip in it. Other noteworthy appetizers include the cheese toast and fried green beans. The cheese toast leaves me craving more for days. Beware it has a spicy kick to it. The steaks are reasonably priced for steaks. They have always been cooked perfectly. You can even get one of the larger steaks and split between two people for a small split fee charge. I'm selfish and eat all of my steak by myself. No sharing here. Sorry. They have a unique take on peanut butter pie. It's all peanut butter and served with whipped cream. Save a little bit of belly room for that. read more

Tender, juicy fresh steaks cooked to order, fried lobster tails are outstanding and every time I've eaten here the service has been friendly and pleasant. Went here about two weeks ago while I was on a business trip. A couple of friends have highly recommended the steakhouse and we made it a point to come here. We were not disappointed. We had some of their appetizers and I had a great steak. In addition, we had to try each of the pies they had for that night. We had come early and I'm glad we did because the place was packed by the time we got our food. I dug into the steak and the appetizers and frankly, it was the best food I had on my trip. I would gladly come here again. The steak was awesome, but that peanut butter pie was probably the best dessert I've had in a while. read more

Hunter's Pub serves better than average food in a "rustic" setting in the middle-of-nowhere. That combination makes me a fan! If you have a group, you'll want to get there about 30 minutes before they open to get in line, because, yes, there'll be a line, wrapping around the front of their cinderblock building. Don't try and open the door before 5pm! Once you're inside, you'll realize that you truly are there for the food. And the food is great, so that's a good thing. The fried lobster tails are always a special, and they are a must-order menu item. Lightly fried in a tempura like batter with a wooden skewer holding them straight, they are served with a sweet whole grain mustard dipping sauce. You can add a single fried tail onto a steak, or order them as an entree with two sides, or an appetizer which includes three tails. We've done the math, and if you're interested in a lobster tail, the cheapest price per tail is to order an appetizer and share. If you're not a lobster fan and want an appetizer, I can highly endorse the cheesey toast. The steaks are a couple of notches better than Longhorn or Outback, for a dollar or two cheaper, and a heck of a lot bigger. They have been cooked spot on to temperature each time I've ordered. Each steak comes with a dinner roll and two sides - I recommend the fried okra, fried green beans, loaded baked potato, and/or mushrooms/onions. One large steak and sides is enough for two people to share, and the $3 split plate fee means they will actually split the entree up for you. The service has always been great here. It's a friendly, small town feel. They will keep your drinks full and always perfectly split the check in whatever crazy way you need it. Hunter's is a local instution for a reason, and a welcome stop on the way to Columbus from Atlanta. read more

This place is a COVID horror show. Zero distancing precautions inside the restaurant. Packed on a Wednesday night and no masks by patrons to be seen. The waitresses wore masks half the time and just fiddled with them taking them off and putting them back on while conversing with diners which does zero good. FORTUNATELY they have put three tables outside for dining. Seated right away at the outside table. The food was excellent and the portions were massive. Definitely difficult to eat everything they give you. Steaks well seasoned (cooked maybe a few minutes too long for my liking though). fried okra, fried green beans, loaded baked potato, and fries were all great. If they didn't have the recently implemented outside tables I could only recommend to take it to go and food usually is never quite the same after traveling. read more

I went to this restaurant for a group event. We sat in the side room so I am not sure about the actual restaurant. I really want to give this place a 3.5 star and then again a 5 star so I will settle for 4 right now. I will state my reasons for both 3.5 stars - Walking into​ the room I was not completely sure about the health score and I am still not. I feel like we need a good cleaning maybe even a pressure wash. With the number of​ people they have coming to their restaurant I am sure they can budget a renovation. 5 stars - The food was GREAT! They are known for their rib eye steaks and I can see why. As long as you are willing to overlook the ambiance and restaurant​ then you will be okay. Me, I live for a nice ambiance so I don't see me trekking down south. read more

I've been here before and the last time I came I had a great dish that was one of the specials. I told myself that I will be back to get a nice steak. When I first saw this place you almost miss it because it's not very big or extravagant. It looks like a little bait and tackle shop from afar until you see the line of people. My father visited and wanted to go to a good steak joint so I thought coming here was great. His initial thought was mine when we first got there, "what the hell is this place?" The wait wasn't very long which I was pleased about and we got a nice table away from the door (that people forget to close all the time for some reason). We got the jalapeño poppers for an appetizer and my wife and father both got salads as well. The poppers to me were somewhat lacking. You can't cut straight through the jalapeño slice and it was somewhat chewy. Also there was by no means enough cream cheese in them but that's personal preference. I will say though that it seems like they made the salad dressing in house because it didn't taste store bought. I got the New York strip and I never get steak cooked medium because I'm a medium well or well done guy. I took a shot to taste the flavor and for my wife to stop nagging me. The steak was cooked beautifully and so was my fathers. Even the baked potato was perfectly cooked and had great taste. I was so full but we decided to split a key lime pie three ways and the pie was stellar. Overall, I know it seems like I'm giving places five stars a lot but they are honestly worthy. Places don't have to be a five star restaurant to have good food. Hunters pub is one of the best restaurants in Columbus. If you visit you have to come here! Da bomb.com! read more

I'm going all-out (in terms of stars) in my review for this hidden gem of a spot. Certainly an unexpected find (came to me via a recommendation from a good friend) and so glad I took his advice and got off the highway traveling between Columbus and LaGrange. This roadside dinner place is about the size of someone's house, but don't let the outside fool you...they are grilling up some righteous steak here! Cooked to perfection and accompanied by a large salad and a potato, this meal hit the spot. Steak were cooked to the exact temps we all ordered, and the sides and salad were quite tasty as well. Prices are reasonable and the staff is as friendly as they come. The place was completely packed by the time we got up from our (early) dinner table. The steaks were good but the side room where we were seated was just so obnoxiously loud it ruined our dinner. (Loud just from talking, not music) I enjoy a good time as much as any. This wasn't the people's fault. The room has a metal roof with no insulation. We had to yell just for the waitress to take our order. I feel sorry for the waiters who have to work in that back room. You can't drink enough beer and wine to deal with that sh!t! read more
