Received a message from Hun's yesterday saying I would not be reimbursed for the dress being ruined, only for some of the tailoring fees. After going back and forth via text for several hours and explaining multiple times that this was an unacceptable solution, they finally agreed to reimburse me. When I went to the store to to pick up my check, I was told "thanks for all the trouble" and that I would not be receiving my dress back. Horrific customer service. I'm thankful to be reimbursed but very disappointed in the way Hun's approached the situation. Terrible value - do not spend money here. I would just like to say this rating is based on pricing, not on customer service. In fact, I had a fair customer service while I was there. I brought in a bridesmaids dress that needed to be hemmed about 1 1/2- 2 inches, so I wouldnt trip while walking. This is not my first time to get alterations done to a bridesmaid stress, however this was my first time at Hun's tailors. The woman quoted me $60 to get the job done. When in the past, I've had my dresses be altered with the same modifications for $30-$40. So I politely said that was out of my budget, she handed me back my dress and the next day I found another tailor in Irving who did the exact same job for $40. In my opinion, just like other reviews it is overpriced. read more

My coworker swore by Mr. Hun's work. I used Mr. Hun for a bridesmaid dress. Was there a language barrier? Maybe. Or people just aren't accustomed to accents. Maybe I'm a little partial because I know how hard my parents work to get by, and even though people say they don't speak English, they actually do. I brought my dress to Mr. Hun, and tried it on for him. He pinned it where everything needed to be. He took it in, shortened the halter, and added extra fasteners to make it more secure. I picked it up a week later, it fit perfectly and was charged $30. Sounds like 5 star service to me. read more

I took in a cheap dress to be hemmed up a few inches. It was double-lined (a cheap lining at that) but I've had suits hemmed that had much thicker material and have never paid an outrageous price on them, so I wasn't worried about it. I mistakenly didn't ask the price as I assumed it would be $20-30ish max... it was $58. More than I paid for the dress, and just to hem it. No rush, nothing fancy. Just hemmed it up a few inches. Never going back and seriously regret going. I'm super upset that I had to pay that much. read more

Just picked up a Tuxedo for my Uncle and tuxedo pants from being hemmed.... Informed her that I need it by Thursday and brought the suit up there on yesterday. JUST THE BOTTOM HEMMED for my pants and charge me $12.99. They charged me $55 to cut the tuxedo jacket, $45 to take in the waist pants and $45 to move up the buttons. She said the total cost for alterations for this tuxedo suit was $190.00. The total cost with tax came to $212.00 The cost of the tuxedo cost me $90. I have NEVER paid more than $$$ alterations for the cost of purchase. After she performed the measurements and asked HER the price. SHE NEVER quoted the price of the alterations. She told me it would ready on time, but when I called today to query if they were on target. She said YES, but never provided me an update on the price of every alteration. We argued with her over the cost and she said the most she could do is take $15 which is the cost of tax. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HER TO ANYONE... read more

I've been going to Mr. Hun for alterations for at least 10 years. They do an outstanding job, and charge a fair price. I used to live near the shop in Las Colinas. I now live about 15 miles away, and probably pass half a dozen other tailors on the way, but Hun's is worth the drive. read more

It's a shame I have to give this place even 1 star. Horrible horrible customer service. I took 2 pairs of jeans in for simple patching and he told me they would be done in 4 days. 5 days later I called and he told me he could not find my pants, would go look for them, and would call me back but did not take my name or number, so I offered it. After 30 minutes of waiting, I called back again. He seemed clueless, said they did not know what pants I was talking about, and again said he would call back. He never called. 2 hours later I went into the store. He looked at my ticked, pulled my pants out (which had not been touched), told me they would not be ready for another 4 days and did not apologize or offer any reason whatsoever. 9 days to patch 2 pairs of jeans??? And the original finish date was 4? With no apology or explanation? On top of all of this, when I went in on the 5th day to pick up the pants and they weren't ready, I asked how much it would cost and he had no idea. He rudely told me that he'd let me know the cost whenever he finished patching them. I told him that I was going to take the pants elsewhere and, again, he offered no apology. If he thinks this is the way to operate a business, then he is sorely mistaken. I have never been treated so rudely and will never take anything back to him. I started to use Hun's about a year ago and I love this place, I do not dare take my clothes anywhere else. I have taken jeans that were ripped in the crotch area and he fixed them perfectly. Just picked up a dress from being hemmed....JUST THE BOTTOM HEMMED and they charged me $70. After almost crying and saying that's more than the dress, she just swiped my card. I heard her on the phone tell someone a hem is "$10". Go elsewhere. I've gotten over 15 dresses hemmed elsewhere and I've NEVER been charged that much or even close to that much. Absolutely ridiculous and awful customer service when disagreeing with the price to swipe my card. read more

Mr. Hun is fine for very basic alterations, such as taking in the waist, putting cuffs on pants, and adjusting jacket sleeve length. But I've been less satisfied with more complex alterations like adjusting the rise or taking in a jacket from the back seam. I've had to take a couple of items back to him when the initial alteration wasn't done right, e.g. things were made too tight or left too loose. I now take my clothes over to the tailors in Preston Center - they charge more but are more dependable. read more

I'm so conflicted about Hun I can't figure myself out. That's pretty dramatic especially since he is a tailor and I only see him maybe once per month. On one hand the tailoring has always been perfect, so kudos! On the other hand he was judgmental when I brought in a short babydoll style dress and asked me multiple times if I was sure it was a dress. Not sure if he was judging me or trying to determine what sort of alteration to charge me for, either way I wanted to thunk him on the head. I feel his is overpriced when it comes to certain alterations as well. A bridesmaid dress cost me almost $100 to alter! I understand it has multiple layers and is definitely more time consuming, but I paid enough for the dress itself, geez! So, if you do use him don't make the mistake I did and not ask price upfront. If you are comfortable paying what he quotes you then go for it. Fair prices on pants and shirts. Lastly, I dropped off a dress to be altered telling him that the next weeked (7 days later) I would need it for a party. I came in the day AFTER he said it would be ready and it still wasn't done. He tried to say come back in a few hours but I laid down the law and told him he had 45 minutes to make it happen because I was leaving the city. He went sour-old-man on me and grumbled something I couldn't hear (probably for the best) but when I came back 45 minutes later it was done... impeccably. Then tried to charge me $30 for it when he had originally quoted me $25, so I had to lay down the law again - in training to be a police officer by the end of the visit apparently. So, needless to say, I am conflicted. I would never give them a totally bad review because they are really good tailors, but on the other points I am tempted to try another tailor... read more

I had used this tailor for years but had a problem with them recently. I brought in a blazer and showed them a place on the sleeve that needed stitching. When I came to pick it up, she said there were several other places and charged me $41.00! They should have called me if they found additional things that needed repairing. I went out of of town and came back 20 days past the date of pick up(my fault), and he had yet to of even touched the pants. I was told another week and they would be done... Nope! I have taken several items to thus establishment first there is a language barrier. The alterations have been sub par. He doesn't listen to my request and I've had to bring alterations back several times to be fixed correct. The prices are too high and there are plenty good places around that do great work and charge less. Stay clear from this place you will be frustrated!!! read more

I only gave it 1 star because I had to. If I could have given it a zero I would have. I called before I went to the location to confirm they could perform a simple zipper replacement and the man on the phone laughed and asked me to come quickly. I immediately left work early go get there quickly. When I showed up and gave my item to the same man I spoke to on the phone he kept arguing with me that the zipper worked and that it didn't need to be replaced. He reminded me 3 times before I got a word in and then I told him that the zipper was cheap and my friend with the same item had her zipper break after one wear which I was not willing to go through. Then the unexpected happened he folded my item and handed it back to me. For the second time I told him even though it works I wanted it replaced just as I stated on the phone and then he turned and walked away! He refused my request for no reason. I guess his business is making too much money to handle a small request. I wasted time and effort for no reason and will tell everyone of this experience. read more

CAUTION - CLOTHES RUINED!! WORST EXPERIENCE! New ownership has chased away my decades long patronage (I have lived in Irving more than 20 years and have been using this alterer probably the whole time). When I walked in, the customer before me was through the roof furious, complaining about the price. The customer stormed out and warned me to be sure to get a quote. I had used this alterer for years and I did not know there was new ownership, so I blew it off. Big mistake. I was charged 3 times the normal price that I usually was charged. I also had to take back the clothes thinking they could be fixed as the pants were too short and the shirts were fitting oddly. I was not upset as I assumed everything could be fixed. BUT, when the alterer got really defensive and kept BLAMING ME FOR THE ALTERATIONS ("I can't help it if you pulled your pants up to high") , I realized the alterations could not be fixed. I looked under the hem and to my shock, there was no material to let back out - about 3 inches had been cut leaving no margin for error. She kept taking the shirts and pressing and stretching them saying that would be the fix!! When I finally told her she needed to stop blaming me for the alterations, she said she was going to CALL THE POLICE, which she did!!! This crazy crazy woman actually called 911 saying a customer was not talking to her nicely. Of course the police blew the call off and never came. I was somehow able to retrieve my clothes and leave that bizarre twilight world. As I was leaving, she said that if I gave her a bad review, she would "ruin me as a customer". I was able to repurchase identical shirts, but I cannot replace the over $100 pants as they are no longer available. Just going to the next door grocery store makes me nauseous thinking about that woman and experience. It's shocking, 20 years of patronage ruined by this individual. The city of Irving does not an establishment like this one. read more
