Totally adorable!!! They have an outdoor play area for kids! Tables outside when it's nice. Inside is a very old school diner feel! they have some old photos on the walls so you will get like an old school when you're inside. Strongly recommend you stop in for a hamburger and ice cream. I love the drive inn burgers and sandwiches here! The fries are the best, hand cut, and nicely served! The staff are extremely nice! You'll receive a very Canadian "hello and welcome." There was not much open in Cache Creek so we decided to try Hungry Herbie's. They have indoor dining but you place your order at a window inside and they call your number when your order is ready. The menu is posted on a large board on the back wall. It is mostly burgers, chicken and sandwiches. It is a very old style diner inside with no charm or redeeming qualities - arborite tables and chairs. The food is very expensive for what you get - $3.00 for coffee, $9.50 for 2 piece chicken snack and $2.00 for a small soft drink. Because the kitchen is open you can hear the staff talking among themselves and we heard a disparaging remark made about us. Note to staff - when you make comments about me I can hear you and I do not appreciate your comments. The food was disgusting. We both had a 2 piece chicken snack. The French fries were well beyond well done and the chicken was greasy. When I lifted up my chicken I noticed that the oil on the plate from the chicken was green so I don't know how often they change the oil if at all. Old fashion dinner sum up the food, atmosphere, and menu. We kept see signs on the hwy about monster burger. My husband who LOVES burger couldn't help but not stop. We were greeted nicely by the front staff and took our order, I ordered three pieces chicken meal of course my husband the monster burger. While we waited I enjoyed looking at old times items on display and the old photo. The 50 music was a nice touch to the feel of the old fashion diner . I used the washroom and clean. Once we got back to the truck, as we took it to go. I noticed my Big piece, of chicken and fair bit of fries . Both where hot and not greasy. Sadly the chicken skin next to no flavour. My husband burger I had a bite and juicy Yes, but again the frozen patty lack flavour. The patty seemed a bit skinny nothing like the photo you see before you get to the diner. I was hoping that they might stay true to old fashion hand made patty nope. Poutine was fine, along with the coleslaw. Food can be hit or miss and it's arguably overpriced, but the fried chicken is great when it's not a miss and, if you want a old-time-y drive-in on your road trip, this place has as much of that atmosphere as you're going to find between Vancouver and Calgary. I don't know that I'd recommend this place, exactly, but if you're taking the scenic route, it might be worth checking out if you're into this kind of thing. read more

We went for a quick bite to eat. I was initially a little hesitant as the reviews were somewhat mixed and all over the place. Neither of us were really hungry so we only ordered their basic burger and a couple of sides. The burger was served on a brioche bun (extra points for that) and was a good quality burger for the price. The sides were fries and onion rings. The fries were cooked to perfection, and the onion rings were perfect, not greasy and a good crunchy batter on them. Many places either use someone else's frozen variety or just don't know how to make them. These onion rings deserve a top rating based on what we were served. read more

I've visited many times while travelling through Cache Creek & always had good burgers & great fries here. Tonight, however, I was so disappointed! Probably never comeback. We ordered a chicken dinner which came with fries & cole slaw. The only decent part was the Cole slaw. The chicken had no taste whatsoever ' the fries were overdone to the point of dry & tasteless. I am a French fry fanatic & this is a very important part of the meal. To be served such a waste of time, flavour & barely edible was such a disappointment! This is a little diner, in a little town, and it's exactly what you would expect. Greasy. Tasty. Honest. Friendly. The food isn't fancy by any stretch of the imagination, but it's tasty. I had one of their famous monster burgers. Lots of extra bacon and onions. The patties could have been a little more flavorful, but they were tasty. I would eat here again. I DO NOT RECOMMEND! My partner and I were travelling to Williams Lake to see family. We seen a large billboard on the highway that said Hungry Herbie's and it had a big delicious looking burger on it so we desided to stop in. We had to try it out. We both got 2 different beef burgers, fries, large pop and shared a pineapple mikeshake. I love burgers, but these FROZEN burgers didn't have much flavour at all (didn't look anything like the billboard) and for the money spend it was very disappointing. Fries were decent but very small portion for $2.75. "Large" pop was a small Styrofoam cup and no refills. And milk shake was pretty tasteless. Not much if any pineapple flavor and the vanilla ice cream didn't taste like vanilla, just tasted like cream. Definitely not worth the money. Will not be going there again on our travels. read more

The only reason I give this 2 stars is because the staff were nice. There is a certain expectation that when you stop at a diner the food will be greasy. To put it in perspective we had been on the road for 8 hrs and were starving. Wife had the basic burger with mushrooms. She said it had no flavour. Home cut fries they used look like they'd been recooked and were burnt/mushy. I had fish and poutine. fish was soo greasy I couldn't eat 2.. the fries in the poutine were the same as the wife's but covered with gravy/curds... I will say the gravy was good! Everyone knows that when roadtripping you end up having to eat fast food....greasy greasy goodness....however most of us will likely grab some A&W or the likes as there is almost always one in any small highway town. Everytime we travel through the cariboo on our way home we always stop to gas up in Cache Creek and regardless of the time of day grab a bite at Herbies. The staff are incredibly friendly and while we sat and waited for our food the counter person remembered the next customers order from the previous year. I guess Herbie's is a yearly tradition for many. I highly suggest getting some fried chicken and yes they will warn you that it takes 11 minutes for the chicken....that's because it's dipped and battered to order and served super fresh and hot! Definitely worth the wait. I've also heard that the burgers are good too. They also serve real fresh cut french fries with the skin on! Crispy yummy goodness. They put butter on the buns of the burgers they serve...ughh...and it doesn't say on the menu. I don't like mayo so I order no mayo. Stopped in for breakfast as we were I town for a wedding and this diner was within walking distance of our motel. Very much a diner feel when you walk in, complete with green vinyl covered chairs. We tried the hotcakes with a side of sausage and bacon. The hotcakes we're dinner plate sized and you got 3 of them! Hubby did not finish his breakfast so we had to take it to go. Oh and we enjoyed chocolate shakes for breakfast too! Only thing that took away from the meal was that it took a bit longer than normal for the food, but that was only because they have a tiny flat top to cook on. We are here on our way to UNBC. 2 people in our group have gluten allergies. I asked for a burger patty on top of their garden salad with mushrooms. It was good. Especially considering it's a small town Burger place. Another person ordered a basic burger without the bun and that wasn't as good as the salad option. They only had shredded lettuce. Breakfast is served 8 am to 11 am and was/is very good. Lots of choices. Restrooms are super clean. The cook and lady at the order window were very pleasant. Love the Monster Burger! We took Hwy 1 from Vancouver instead of the Coquihalla just to pass through Cache Creek for a Monster Burger. That said, the view was amazing and I recommend Hwy 1. The burger was excellent! Thick, juicy patties on a fresh bun with all the fixings. Served hot. The gravy for the fries was also amazing. After eating fast food all week, we were thoroughly pleased with some old fashioned home cooking. The "old school" milk shakes are excellent as well! read more

Happy Herbies. Well. I was sceptical. But I am a food snob. This has the quirky street appeal of a small town diner. In and outdoor seating. A window to pick up your food. Straight out of a 70's movie. Right down to the plain but pleasant lady quietly taking your order and then bellowing it to the kitchen staff. It becomes the constant chatter as diners come and go.
