This is the Small soup! A whole pot. So delicious. After 4 bowls, I packed the rest.

I started craving for their food this past Sunday and savored quite a few dishes. Everything tastes so good!

Vegetarian Egg Rolls
Jayne M.

Ordered online in Nov 2024. Wonton soup and veggie eggrolls were average. Scallion pancakes are so good! They are greasy and kinda chewy but delicious. Beef Ho Fun was good. Penang curry with chicken, ordered mild spice, it wasn't bad but seemed really bland for curry. Maybe if I got it spicy it would have been better but overall not bad. Also I have never seen cherry tomatoes in curry before.

Hunan Solon with a sign I can read.
Debra V.

Ordered a carry out on my way home from their website, and it was ready when I arrived--twenty minutes. When I drove up the sign lights were off, and it looked closed. I told the lady. I was thinking that people staying in the nearby hotels may look for a dinner place, and would never see the restaurant in the dark. I hope the outside lights get fixed soon. The tangerine roughy (fish) I chose included a sweet sauce, and was delicious. I made two meals of it. The crab Rangoon was fried wonton filled with a cream cheese, crab and onion mixture. Crunchy and good. Hunan is a good choice off Aurora Road as you go into Solon.

Walnut chicken
Annette A.

So flavorful and huge portions. The scallion pancakes were out of this world. Walnut chicken was crispy- even as takeout! My son loved the jalapeño chicken and Tom yum soup was the perfect flavor. Highly recommend and wish I lived closer so I could try more from the Chinese menu

This what they call Teriyaki Chicken. Looks like they had been sitting all day. Dried out, no teriyaki anything going on here.

The wonton soup is pretty amazing!, but everything else is poor quality. Pretty bad. Imperial wok in solon is much much better.

We were in the middle of Solon so we decided on Imperial Wok. Busy Friday night but we beat the majority of the crowd and sat right away. Ordered a combo plate moo goo gai pan, fried rice, egg roll, wonton soup, coconut ice cream. Server was very prompt and fast. Food comes out hot and fast. Tastes good. Really there are no complaints. Everything was good. I enjoyed my meal. Took some home to enjoy another day. Prices are average. I do have to say the portions are a bit smaller than they used to be. But I almost expect that now. Parking is always packed. But you typically find a spot. Overall, no real complaints.

I'm sure this review won't affect their business at all as it is always bustling, but I wanted to share this experience. The food is always good. That's not my complaint. I understand that customer service is not what it used to be in these days of exorbitant prices, and overhead costs. Having spent quite a while in the restaurant industry, if you want keep customers, you can't just do the bare minimum. I'm not saying that I won't patronize them again, but this evening was fairly disappointing for me. I ordered takeout using the chow now platform. I use it all the time. One sushi roll, an appetizer of their Goldfingers, an order of moogoo gaipan, and an order of sweet-and-sour chicken. I rarely order sweet-and-sour chicken, but I had a taste for it tonight. The restaurant is about 17 minutes from my house. When I got home and took all the food out to relax with my wife and enjoy my dinner after a long day at work, I realized that there was sauce for the sweet-and-sour chicken, but there was no chicken. It appeared to me that this was because there was an order of their Goldfingers that perhaps one of the staff mistook for the chicken that was supposed to be my entrée. I called and explained the situation. I was handed off to the manager who apologized and offered to either a) have the chicken ready for me if I drove back or b) refund the amount of the missing food. Nowadays, it's about making the customer whole, legally. That's the bare minimum. I didn't receive something so you refund me for it. But it's not enough. Like I said, it's the bare minimum. Although she did apologize, twice I believe, it just seemed insufficient. It would've been nice if she had offered me a dessert, a small coupon, a discount, or anything else of compensatory nature. But none of that was offered. The business made a mistake, inconvenienced me, and disrupted my evening. Then they said I could spend another half an hour going back-and-forth to pick up the food that they forgot to give me or simply be refunded the exact amount that I paid for the food that I didn't receive. As I said, just disappointing overall.

We've been here before and enjoyed their classic dishes, especially the fried rice, but this time we wanted to explore their dim sum menu. We tried the shrimp and pork dumplings, Thai curry, chicken corn shumai, and pumpkin dessert mochi custard buns. The Thai curry wasn't really for us, and the dumplings overall were good but fairly average compared to other dim sum we've had. Our favorite savory dish was definitely the chicken corn shumai! The real star of the meal, though, was the pumpkin mochi custard buns. They were TO DIE FOR! Definitely save room for dessert. Pricing is reasonable, especially for a restaurant this nice. One thing to note is that the dim sum menu is only available for lunch on Fridays and Saturdays, so plan accordingly! Overall, Lao Sze Chuan is a solid choice if you're looking for Chinese food in a beautiful setting with good service. We enjoyed trying the dim sum, but we wish they had more soup dumpling options and a few more standout dumplings. We'll happily come back for their classic dishes, and those pumpkin buns are worth a return visit alone!

He has charm, detailed knowledge of the menu and sharp witty humor...also extremely easy on the eyes...but that's not the point. He knows the menu intimately, can craft a cocktail and share unknown insights. Sit at the bar! We enjoyed my regular apps, cuc salad and potstickers... never fail. But.. We ended with the Three cup chicken with basil and garlic and it is a real experience for the palette and tongue... no doubt. I am going to try to give it justice. A large warming dish is brought out with a side of steamed rice. No big deal, but nice start. Crispy chicken in all sizes, tiny pieces of peppercorn and chili peppers and huge slices of endless roasted garlic. Incredibly delicious and no garlic left behind! The key to this plentiful entree is the hidden surprise of the Chinese peppercorn delicacy that gives the sides of your tongue an unexpected tingling and "numbness" that awakens your senses. A zing of citrus hits the center of your tongue but not in every bite. If you have never tasted a dish with these, it is a must-have! I told the manager upon leaving that this is the best dish I have actually ever enjoyed , fully. A little heat but beyond that, the meal was not only tasty but genuinely satisfying. Take this to heart from a foodie and a food snob!
