Japanese Udong Noodle
Christina P.

I've eaten at Hunan cafe twice in the past few weeks and was very impressed. I'm on the hunt for a go to take out spot in Augusta and this one is close. The sesame chicken was delicious! Egg rolls and crab angels were on point. Japanese noods were very very tasty! The only thing I would change is their fried rice. It's basically just white rice cooked with soy sauce. If you're like me and want your fried rice with all the extras (green onion, egg, carrots, peas, lil pork chunks) do yourself a favor and just stick with their normal white rice. The lack of ooomph in their fried rice is the only thing stopping this from being a 5 star for me.

Ambience. B Service. A Food. B Price. B Found in strip mall along with Publix. Lots of private parking lot. Good clean inside with nice ambient lighting. Service is quick and swift. Very accommodating. Today the appetizer pork ribs (3 pieces) were very dry. Nice flavors but inedible. Too bad today. The chicken and beans with black bean sauce was tasty. And the moon Shu pork was tasty. Love the fish mawl soup. Still would come back...

I wish I could have gave this place no stars. When I tell you I will never ever ever go back again. The food was horrible payee 70 dollars and had no flavor. When I ordered the wings and they said they only had one flavor I should have hung up the phone. Don't eat here.

One of Augusta's best Korean fusion restaurants. I got their fried rice bowl and at mirin, you get…read morean option of 2 or 3 meat choices. I went with the 2 meant option which is about $20. Got the grilled chicken & steak, which was solid. The grilled chicken had a great char flavor, while the steak tasted like something you'd eat at a hibachi restaurant. The fried rice wasn't oily or dry, best part was how's the portion was. Got a side of 6 piece gyoza which was meat and vegetable filled; that was also non oily and fried just right. Took about 7-8 minutes for the order to come out which was a fast then around. Plenty of room for dining & facilities were pretty clean. They also have other menu items like bubble teas and ramen. Definitely a diverse menu, will certainly be back.

The atmosphere looks nice, if a tad plain. But some of the tables had to be scooted out to get into the seat and they were heavy on a granite floor so loud screeching accompanied the otherwise silent room. Fast food style service and the annoying receipt signing which fast food shouldn't have was present. Also, the toilet wouldn't flush. All over, I'm not sure it really earned the star I gave it.

The food still felt authentic and full of true Hawaiian flavor. Coming from a family with roots in the Big Island and Maui, I can appreciate when a place captures that genuine island-style taste and atmosphere. One thing that really stood out was how they start you off with fresh in-house made pork rinds, similar to how Mexican restaurants serve chips and salsa when you sit down. It was a unique and welcoming touch. We ordered the spicy poke, Spam musubis, and a mixed BBQ plate with two scoops of mac salad. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and satisfying. The mac salad especially had that classic island-style taste that's hard to find done right. The staff was friendly, the decor looked great, and the restaurant had a warm, inviting feel. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for authentic Hawaiian comfort food.

Service was quick to seat and take orders. Love they give complimentary pork rinds to snack on. Friends order masubi - spam nori wrapped rice. Nice. 3 for $9.50? I see different prices online vs menu. The shrimp tempura was okay for fried shrimp. And friends garlic fried chicken was good. I had the double meat plate. And wanted small but they charged me regular charged for $30. 3 slices of short ribs extra $6 up charge for 3 pieces ?! and 1/4 lb of pork belly bites. Also orders kimchee of cucumbers and cabbage. Nice flavors and not overly spicy. I do think they forgot to give me my rice. For $30. Thought this was a bit high for what I got. Food is delicious. Service. Good. Just not sure of how the portions are created for platters. My fiends dish for one items were under $15. Oh well...shall keep an eye on portions and prices in future. Will still go back but así es toy what get for the price I am paying. A. Small order vs regular order.

That alone should have been a red flag. I ordered three appetizers and two dinners. Shrimp toast, cream cheese wontons, steamed dumplings, a General Tso's combo with plain fried rice (because pork fried rice was not an option), and a pepper steak combo with fried rice as well. The shrimp toast was burnt and tasted of old stale burnt oil (see photo). The cream cheese wontons were not fresh. Definitely frozen. They were very dry and had a powdery mouth feel and were somewhat rubbery. Would not order them again. However, I want to think that the shrimp toast would be great if it wasn't burnt. The steamed dumplings were good. The dipping sauce was the best part of the entire meal. Very strong enjoyable garlic flavor in the sauce. The entrees..... Where do I begin? The Pepper steak itself tasted decent. However, there was only about a cup worth of pepper steak, and only about a tablespoon of actual meat. I wish there had been more. The rest of the container was stuffed with about 3lbs of really dry and crumbly fried rice. (see photo) The portion size of the General Tso's was about the same. Just an insane amount of rice compared to the actual entree portion. Zero pieces of green peppers or broccoli. Usually one or the other is in there at every Chinese place I've eaten at. I've never seen it made with just straight up chicken. Also, I ordered it "Extra Spicy" and it literally had zero spice to it. It tasted more like sweet and sour sauce on it. As others have stated, the food did not taste fresh overall. Just really disappointing. The egg rolls that came with the combo dinners were very small, about the size of a spring roll. Even the fortune cookies were rubbery. We didn't crack them in half. We basically unbent them to a flat state. Very odd indeed. Overall, I was left questioning whether any of the food that I ordered was actually made in house or if it was all al-a-restaurant-depo. I would probably not order from here again. If I did, I would probably give the shrimp toast another try in hopes that it didn't come out burnt again.
