I ordered the Moroccan steak pita. God that "steak" was atrocious. Everything else in it was unbelievably salty. That "steak" was not a cut I am familiar with. It was very much full of disgustingly chewy and tough tendons/connective tissue. Granted the pita was loaded with it, but believe me, it was a mouthful of an unpleasant surprise. Maybe the steak isn't what typically one would assume it to be, but maybe some form of disclaimer would be great if that's the case? Aside from that, the cabbage, 6)3!olives, and the hummus were all waaaaay too salty. This left me completely and throughly disgusted at trying any other protein options this place offers. I have mix feelings about this place. After my husband dragged me in to check it out. I gave it a shot and the food is good if you have enough knowledge on food combos. The place is clean, the design of their shop is sharp, and the workers are nice. What I like about this place is how they label their ingredients to help you decide on your food/drink on the spot without guessing which I find helpful because I was able to order at ease. The price my husband and I got for the wraps is it's pretty worth it ($40). They last about the next day and are filling. Keep in mind that if you want your food to last longer, make sure to have your sauces in container as you order! When ordering, you do need some kind of knowledge on what food goes with what. As someone who cooks often, it was easy for me. My husband, however, had a difficult time because there was so many choices to pick from. And sadly, only 1-2 workers were able to help him out. The rest, not so much. Be prepared to talk to each other LOUDLY though. The masks and forcefield makes it difficult to communicate so it can be a bit frustrating to get what you want without repeating it. I wish I could give this place all stars but I didn't like how two of the workers act towards us. Due to our lack of knowledge on how to order for the first time (difficulty communicating) and having to ask some questions on the food (multiple food allergies so I had to ask). One of the ladies got so irritated with us that she walk away and had another worker take over which made me feel shameful for asking questions and the feeling worsen as I watch my husband struggle what to get for his meal. If the store had a list of ingredients on their hummus and ideas on what to put together for your meal on their website. It wouldn't be a struggle. Especially for first timers. I understand why the ladies did not want to suggest anything because people have different taste and didn't want to deal with an unhappy customer but there is no excuse to embarrass someone. Instead of glaring and sighing heavily at the customer for holding up the line, you could have at least help them out a bit by asking what they like and suggest a few ideas to help them finalize their decision. Things would have gone faster if you just helped. Lucky for them, my husband enjoys the food so we come here occasionally. read more

Some friends tried this place in Fresno today and I knew we had one locally so I decided to give it a shot. Wow, wow, wow! The food is extremely fresh. I chose the build-your-own bowl with lemon chicken over a bed of garbanzo beans and spring mix with three different types of hummus, cucumbers, kalamata olives and feta cheese. Amazing! A couple eating in the restaurant made conversation with me and convinced me to try the fried pita chips as well. I will definitely come back as the food looks and tastes amazing! This wasy first time at Hummus Republic. I love the simplicity of the concept and the overall vibe. There is a great mix of traditional and non-traditional options. The ordering process is super straightforward and all options are clearly marked. Since we were obviously new, an employee walked us through everything clearly and really took the time to personalize our experience. The serving size is great too. The wrap had no shortage of filling and kinda came apart halfway through, which was fine by me! I very much enjoyed the spicy options as well, and the ability to sample them! Found this place on Yelp while i was in the area working. Food: Served in a similar fashion to Chipotle, this place is a "build your own" type eatery. You pick a bowl, wrap, or salad and then all the additives. I personally chose to build my own bowl and got chicken and couscous as the base with some lettuce. There are so many options to choose from you are bound to find something you like. I must say i was highly impressed with their options, the bowl was so flavorful and delicious and you can tell the ingredients are fresh. I think this place is absolutely worthy of their rating. My coworker is a Middle Eastern immigrant so this is right up his alley, and he was super impressed with the food taste and quality. If he says its good, that's all i needed to hear. You get to choose whatever you want to put in the wrap and most of the items are available without extra charge. The options are also quite healthy. Absolutely loved my lunch here. Such variety and flavors. My friend and I both built our own bowls. She's gluten/dairy free and found so many options. I went in today and one of the workers was giving me attitude. I told them what I wanted and they basically threw my food at me. When they were serving they also slapped the food on my bowl. I went in there and go treated with nothing but disrespect! When I was paying I got extra change and I didn't put it in the tip jar, when the worker saw I didn't put no tip money she gave me the dirtiest look i have ever received. I came home and as I was opening my bowl I saw not one, not two, but THREE strands of hair inside of my bowl. I am completely disgusted with how I was treated and how I found literal HAIR in my food. I've been missing out on this place. I always seen it on my food search list but never hesitated to try it only because I thought it was somewhere in a busy shopping center. My partner really enjoyed it as he's never had Mediterranean food. The hummus selection was too much for me but she gave me the best ones. I got the regular, the cucumber kind and I can't remember the other one. Tasty and it gave my bowl some spark. I liked the fact that it came with the pita bread. I couldn't decide on what sauces so I got them on the side. I liked the cilantro one and couldn't get enough. The falafels were a bit dry but manageable when you mix it with the sauces. The cucumber was different but it was good with the stuff I got. Good portions and filling. Hoping to come back soon. Service overall was great and the lady was very friendly and knowledgeable. Such a disappointment... all over their website you're told everything comes out to you hot and freshly prepared but when i went, around 5 pm just before the dinner rush, i was served old falafel, old couscous, the last of the warm garbanzo beans (the worker was literally scraping the pan), and a big bowl of gobbley-goop mess. the second bowl we ordered was served in the same fashion. My hummus bowl was d e l i c i o u s. I hadn't tried Hummus Republic before, but I love Mediterranean food and lots of options, so it was already a good match. With easy online ordering and multiple kinds of base, hummus, and toppings, I wanted to try all the things. Bases -- I love love love that there are so many options for the base, and you can mix and match. The kale salad is delicious, the garbanzo beans are super filling, and there's even spinach versus mixed greens to choose between. Protein -- falafel versus chicken (lemon chicken or shawarma) are the included options, and there's an upcharge for other kinds of meat. I tried the falafel today and it was pretty good with a generous portion. It wasn't the best falafel I've ever had and was a touch on the dry side, but mixed with the hummus and other toppings, it was still tasty. I also sampled the chicken shawarma and found it flavorful without being dry, so I might get that next time. Hummus -- eggplant, roasted red pepper, traditional, olive, you name it! I tried the eggplant and olive ones today and thought both were very good. The olive hummus had a super robust olive taste, one of the best I've had. Toppings -- plentiful and fresh, I really enjoyed the fresh herbs (lots of cilantro) and pickled cabbage. There are also options for tahini sauce and tzatziki, and I preferred the latter for a nice tanginess. Ordering takeout through Yelp was fast and easy, and pickup was a breeze. Good value and great service. We decided to stop here on Sunday while we waited for Fedex to open. The ladies that worked there were professional and helpful for my husband and I who were first timers. I got a chicken shawarma bowl loaded to the brim. The portions were super generous as this was enough for three meals for me. The food flavor was ok- I prefer flavors with a more garlic sauce. The tzatziki was creamy but I really wanted more garlic.
