Had this catered today for my works weekly lunch. We had a little bit of everything from the kebab to the green shakshuka. All in all everything I had on my plate was super good. My family came for weekend brunch. We started with the free hummus appetizer from Yelp check-in. Both the pita and hummus were delicious! Two of us ordered from the brunch menu - which is $19 for a small appetizer sample plate that comes with cauliflower, stuffed grape leaves, and fava beans along with your choice from a list of entrees. We both ordered the quinoa kale salad, which was fresh and more substantial than I expected due to the addition of lentils for protein. I was happy with both the appetizers and salad! The other two diners ordered from the pita tacos section. Their meals were generously portioned with two tacos and sides of hummus, babaganush, chopped salad, and tahini. The traditional hummus was ok albeit too thin. The beef kabob was rather dry and could have used more sauce. Love this spot, went in the afternoon with a friend and got the chicken couscous while he had gotten a hummus platter. Service was great, wasn't too crowded. Small spot so it could get filled up pretty quickly, although since it's so close to my work, I would probably just plan to pick up orders to go. Prices are reasonable, and food tasted so delicious, healthy. Chicken wasn't dry at all, well flavored, and not overcooked which is easily done at restaurants. First of all, the cauliflower is an absolutely MUST. It comes on a bed of delicious tahini. The mushroom hummus was also incredible - the mushroom was super flavorful and the hummus is one of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend the cabbage slaw as well - it was the perfect addition to the rest of the sides that came with the make your own pita bar (baba ganoush, tomato / cucumber salad, tahini). Pretty good Mediterranean spot in Hell's Kitchen. Came here on a Sunday evening and it was a quiet, small space. We ordered the hummus kitchen appetizer - came with 4 different types of hummus. There was 3 of us and it was a lot of hummus, yet it only came with 3 or 4 pieces of pita bread. We could have never eaten that much hummus with that little amount of pita... we asked for extra pita, which they charged us for. But the hummus was tasty. I have been disappointed every time I have been here. I always have high Hope's and walk away regretting having gone. We ordered the hummus sampler, the pitas entree with salmon, and the pitas entre with ground beef. The hummus sampler was the best dish. Why? Because they have good hummus. But let me tell you a secret, they will try to sell you different types of hummus. They taste all the same, it's just the base hummus with different toppings. The sampler is an example of this. One plain, one with tahini, one with "shawarma", and one with chickpeas. Plain and tahini were good. The one with the shawarma, was covered in a terrible soggy dry (how did they do that) chicken, certainly not shawarma style. The one with the chickpeas, why; why do we need chickpeas in top of mashed chickpeas? The pita dishes were mixed. The one with ground beef was quite alright. I was just too full of hummus to enjoy the dish, but there wasn't anything bad about it. The one with the salmon was not good. There was what appeared to be two pits halves stuffed full of salmon. But guess what, the salmon was just on top, and I think you know what was underneath. Chickpeas. Not sure I need to say more. Clearly there is a target audience that wants chickpeas with everything, unfortunately I am not a member of this group. So why two stars? Well the food was solidly in the three star group. But service was lacking. And honestly I think that safety was not high up on the staff's priority. Halfway through the meal the server dropped a tray of dishes while clearing a table. Instead of cleaning up the broken glass and food immediately, it sat there in the floor for at least 10 minutes while the servers went about their business collecting checks. Finally one of the back of the house staff came to cleanup, and while he was trying to be thorough the server shooed him away. This means that there was quite a bit if broken glass on the floor which didn't get cleaned up. When I got up to leave I discovered even more broken glass under my chair. I found this to be unacceptable. First priority should be to clean up the mess and broken glass. Add to that the fact that I wasn't impressed with the food, I see no reason to go back. read more

This place is decent for some Mediterranean food but a few setbacks. The chicken platter is around $24 and I was expecting more chicken for that price. I also ordered it with rice and salad and redeemed the free check in for hummus. However, I was still charged 8$ for a tiny little bowl of salad that was cut tomatoes and cucumbers. They should've put the entree in with rice and salad and the free hummus separately. I didn't complain and paid anyways. It's disappointing if you're offering a free item and being charged anyways. There was also an AC in the establishment that splashed out lots of water onto the chair below (thank god nobody was sitting there!) but the staff seemed oblivious to it. The service was well in general and food came out in 40 minutes. However, my coworker got a falafel and hummus lunch special and they brought her food out with the rest of everyone's appetizers. Took my wife here for her birthday after-show dinner. Middle Eastern cuisine is our favorite and Hummus Kitchen was a WINNER! Food was superb. Hummus with roasted veggies appetizer was to die for. Entrees were also excellent - healthy portion, my salmon was fresh, not frozen! Rice done perfectly with some lentils mixed in to garish. Mint tea and Turkish coffee prepared and served in traditional copper pots! They were out of the chocolate dessert, so we opted for the baklava which was perfect and not overwhelming or too sweet. An older woman entered the restaurant and requested a table for one. She was told that she could sit at the bar or outside. The bar in the Hell's Kitchen location is barely a bar. There are seats, however, the staff congregates behind the bar. It was a warm afternoon with the two outside tables directly in the sun. In a half empty restaurant, the woman was denied a table whereas there had been a single person seated alone just shortly before she entered. She declined and left. The staff was not kind and it was an uncomfortable scene to observe. I will think twice about returning given the treatment of someone who just wanted to eat alone. read more

Nestled in the heart of Hell's Kitchen in the City is Hummus Kitchen. My friend and I stopped by for brunch. The Brunch Special unlimited mimosas or sangria $10, prix fix is $16 with coffee! You can also opt in for an additional $5.50 for brunch apps & coffee or tea. We love healthy and delicious appetizers! The cauliflower was fried and tahini was to die for! My friend was obsessed with the onion and apple confiture. We fawned over the lemony cabbage with sesame oil and roasted black sesame! I could have this salad for the rest of my life! Just as we were filling up in healthy veggies, we saw the gravlax salmon with garlic aioli and mustard dill sauce. It was the perfect teaser for our brunch entrees! We finished off with grape leaves stuffed with basmati rice served in a tahini mint dressing, dill, and pomegranate. Normally I'm a bit wearing of stuffed grape leaves, but both my friend and I promised to give these a chance, and boy were we glad we did! They were perfectly tart and savory. After the wonderful sampling of appetizers, was the main show! I ordered Kitchen Benedict smoked salmon with Mediterranean chopped salad home fries. It was perfectly light and filling, the eggs were wonderfully poached and the Holland size-like sauce, totes on point ! Meanwhile, my friend was loving her omelette with red pepper, wild mushroom, scallion, oregano and served with a side of Mediterranean chopped salad and home fries. I snuck a bite and it was fantastic! Since we couldn't turn down dessert, we shared the Loco Morocco. $7.50. It was absolutely delicious.
