I had two juniper trees that needed trimming badly. I called, Dave got back to me right away, he and his crew showed up the next morning at 7:30. He brought a crew of three and a wood chipper. The guys got to work right away and within a short time, everything had been trimmed hauled out, put through the chipper and cleaned the whole area as if they were never there. read more

I've trusted this tree service for over 15 years across multiple family properties, and they never disappoint. Today they tackled a massive 41‑year‑old Monterey Pine leaning dangerously toward a building--over 50 feet tall and 30" wide. The crew of seven arrived promptly, worked safely and efficiently for 6 1/2 hours, and left my yard and the neighbors' yards spotless. Fair pricing, great teamwork, and reliable follow‑up. Highly recommended! read more

Great service! David was very responsive from our first conversation through completion of the tree trimming. I got two other, more expensive estimates, prior to Hummingbird's. Based on a neighbor's previous experience with, and recommendation, I chose Hummingbird to do the work. We had three smallish trees removed and three larger trees pruned to get more ambient light, restore some views, and stop dumping needles onto our roof. The large crew of very experienced and knowledgeable trimmers made it look easy and finished before lunch. Really happy with the work completed, cost, and results. Without a doubt I'd use Hummingbird again and will recommend them to my family and neighbors. read more

We were in need of clearing our backyard trees in preparation for the next project. Wife contacted many tree companies and found Hummingbird as the most responsive and best-value. In a crisis you need to rely on the right person and Dave is that guy! We have a preschool (Happy Hall School) in San Bruno, founded in 1951 and there are a number of mature trees that are on the property. A few weeks ago our teachers arrived at the school after a storm, to their dismay our largest tree had snapped in half. There would be no way the kids could play on the playground unless we cleared this tree, anyone who has children knows that keeping a whole class of four year olds indoors for hours is not treat. I contact Dave and left him a message, he called back a few minutes later, he said he would pull some guys off a job in San Francisco and come down immediately. Within an hour Dave and his guys were there to the rescue, he is a really compassionate guy and it's obvious his crew likes working with him. They cleared the tree, pointed out two other trees that were dangerously needing tree work and we are very appreciative of Dave and his guys. If anyone needs tree service, after meeting Dave, I cannot imagine going to anyone else. read more

When you need the tree trimming done right, this is the service to call. We bought a house for the view, but it was partially obscured by overgrown wild trees. On the initial estimate appointment, Dave noticed many live branches spreading on the ground -- a fire hazard. He gave us a fair quote, not only for the trim above, but also included the branches below for our safety. The crew showed up on time (early, actually), worked efficiently and checked with me several times to make certain the job was going to our satisfaction. Great communication and work ethic. I'm posting the "before and after" photos, and we couldn't be happier for choosing Hummingbird Tree Service! (Also, the neighbors two houses down asked for the contact information "for future tree work", too -- now THAT'S an endorsement!) Highly recommended, will call them for the next tree job as well. read more

They love what they do and show it in the work they do. Highly recommend. They also mounted a large owl nesting box in the tree, helping to keep these birds flourishing. Nice work. read more

These guys came with a very strong recommendation from a neighbor and exceeded expectations. Dave came on a Saturday, gave a very reasonable estimate for a bunch of work, including removing a very large (24" diam) branch hanging dangerously over the driveway and power line. Returned the following Wednesday (on time!) with 2 pick-ups, a box truck towing a chipper and six guys. They were all great, working quickly, efficiently and safely (!) but the two climbers were really outstanding! They were done and gone by 2:30, leaving the yard and sidewalk clean and our trees looking better than I've ever seen them. read more

I just had an excellent experience with Dave of Hummingbird Tree Service. I saw a huge, threatening crack in my backyard ficus after Sunday's storm and was afraid that an enormous branch was going to fall on my neighbor's house. I called 7 arborists - some who didn't even respond - and Dave was the first to call me back; (it was Monday morning of the huge storm). He said he could come over in about 3-4 hours. To my relief, he showed up earlier than that. He said he could do the work first thing the next morning. His price was shockingly fair. I was certain I would get gouged under the circumstances. Because it was so reasonable, I told him to top the entire ficus and prune two other trees at the same time, and still the add-ons were very reasonable. There was no drama about parking his truck and the chipper which most people will want to get permits for. The next morning, Dave and a crew of 6 showed up on time and carefully removed the very rotten branch, though I did have to lose about 40% of the tree (better than 100%!) The crew worked very efficiently, swiftly, carefully and cleaned up in front and back perfectly. There was no yelling or crazy blaring music. I had no complaints from adjoining neighbors about debris on their side of the fences. I had no collateral damage to the plants in my garden. Dave was a really nice guy; thoughtful, professional and very easy to communicate with. I was thoroughly impressed and would highly recommend using his company. read more

Unfortunately, I had to replace an overgrown and out of control tree in my backyard that sits right next to a shared fence. David at Hummingbird was very easy to work with. Tree removed, stump grinded and replacement trees planted within 4 hours. Very professional and they cleaned up after themselves. Thanks David!! read more

We had a huge tree fall down and David and his team were fantastic. I can only say great things about the entire experience. His team did a phenomenal job removing the tree and providing his expertise on what to do in a time of crisis. I definitely recommend him and will use him for any future work. A true professional! David's crew trimmed a tree on the border of my home and my neighbor's property. His crew did a good job, at a very competitive price, cleaned up well afterwards, provided some advice on how the tree will grow over time, and - perhaps the most challenging part of this small job - gracefully handled disparate opinions on the scope of work between my neighbor and myself. Highly recommend. read more

David and his team were very professional and highly skilled. We definitely received value and a reasonable price for the removal of three huge Monterey Cypresses that were starting to decay and needed to be removed. This team managed to bring the trees down without any branches or wood falling into our neighbors' lots. It was amazing work and really quite breathtaking to watch. I definitely would recommend this company to anyone looking to trim or cut down trees. They are the perfect combination of value and skill. read more

They handled my mulch delivery - and were GREAT. They came by to see the space and set up the drop off - were professional and on time. Then when they delivered the mulch their guy helped me sort out some pure wood and move it from my drive way - very courteous - beyond the call service. If we ever need tree service (i.e. removal or trimming) I will call these guys - in looking for mulch I must have talked to and dealt with over 10 tree services in the city and Marin - and far and away Hummingbird was the most professional in their customer service (and I wasn't paying - this is a FREE service - the mulch delivery) - HIGHLY recommend them. read more

It took a bit of time to connect with David but, once we did, he was quick to check out the trees I needed trimming, getting me a quote and completing the job. I have three trees in front of my house that were just over grown and tall. Dave did great job prunning and thinning the trees to a manageble size. The trees look great and it is nice to see the sunlight through my front windows again. 5 stars for quality of work and price. read more

Hummingbird Tree Service is awesome! Got a call back and a site visit the same day I called. When David came for the quote, he made a plan for my property as if it were his own (letting me just sit back and experience his expertise), took care of EVERYTHING, did the work so quickly and efficiently, and worked with me on price! Now my trees won't fall on my house AND they let so much more light through, so my grass can grow! Can't recommend highly enough. read more

Dave will do a good job with your trees, IF he ever gets around to it. In the meantime, he WILL waste your time. He will not return texts for days, will string you along about showing up for an estimate, and then, after you take the day off work and clear the street in front of your house for his equipment, he will cancel on you the morning he's scheduled to do the work. If you have all the time in the world, it may be worth it... read more

Very happy with the trim job that David & Hummingbird crew did on my Magnolia tree. They were on time & the price was reasonable.

Dave was great in trying to schedule my appointment to trim a crazy overgrown tree in my backyard ASAP, easy to communicate with, flexible with times etc. and terrific to work with. On the scheduled day, Dave couldn't come himself due to a family emergency. He called me early to let me know and apologized for the changes. The two guys who trimmed the tree did an outstanding job. They were fast, pleasant and efficient. They explained what they were doing and asked for feedback before finishing the job. Not only did they do a fantastic job in picking up the tree debris but they also cleaned up some other plant trimmings and swept up the yard leaving it looking really well. I highly recommend Dave and his crew and would use their services again. read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! They lie about being licensed/bonded. We hired them with the impression that they were licensed/bonded Every single time they were asked to prove that they were licensed/bonded (as they still claim), they used evasive answers (verbally and in writing) and totally ignored the questions. So, I went to the International Society of Arbor culture's (ISA) website and typed in their information. Guess what? No record of them! I then emailed the ISA to check again, and they said that there is no company/person with this company's name and owners name that has credentials. Yes, they may do good work. BUT WATCH OUT FOR THESE LIARS! read more

Great work! I called a bunch of arborists to trim my front yard tree. Dave was very knowledgeable about my type of tree, professional, friendly, and had the best price of the 10 arborists I reached for quotes. Highly recommended! read more

Gotta give them props. They removed a massive tree, cleaned up and were gone in less than three hours. Best price and super quick.

Out of all the people that I met for a quote, Dave was the most personable and friendly. With a shake of the hand the deal was made and everything went as planned, except they had finished a day early. This was not a small job at all! The tree was in danger of destroying my house and both my neighbors being it had a split trunk. At least half the Arborist who came by didn't even want to take on the liability. If you are thinking of having any type of tree work done big or small I would highly recommend Dave at Hummingbird Tree Service! read more
