We contacted Trees Company to get an estimate to kick off our backyard project (needed to clean up a large tree and remove several smaller trees). Shortly after we completed their online contact us questionnaire, we were contacted to schedule an onsite visit so they could see first hand what needed to be done. The arborist arrived on time, was nice and offered input on how to achieve what we were needing/looking to do. We received a written estimate via email 1 business later. In the end, we chose to go with another company but would highly recommend Trees Company as well. They are extremely professional and responsive to your needs! read more

Christopher and his crew did two jobs in the last 6 months for us. They completely it down one tree with a huge branch leaning threateningly over the neighbors fence. The kind of tree and branch that makes you hold your breath during the winter storms. The second was a giant eucalyptus which had never been trimmed in 50 years. Trees Company listened to our concerns and wishes, proposed a plan and submitted a bid. The team showed up on time, quickly but safely moving up and out among the branches, removing large branches and trimming throughout to open the tree both to light and breezes. Equally important, they were careful of the neighbors' yards and concerns and did a brilliant job of cleaning and removing the considerable debris. We could not be more satisfied. Highly recommended. read more

Highly recommend. Our backyard was fully overgrown with trees of all ages that needed thinning out and cleaning up. Christopher came with an aesthetic eye and discussed different options for achieving our goals, including a number of suggested solutions that we hadn't considered. Followed up with a detailed estimate, and careful work. read more

Our magnolia tree had been mis-expertly trimmed and never properly thinned. Julie and Herman took extra time and care to do the job right. Opened her up and redistributed the weight so she looks fantastic and so much healthier. By the end of the year I expect she will have filled in perfectly! I recommend them unreservedly. read more

Christopher and his team are absolutely stellar! I have a very tall Monterey Cypress in my backyard that required major pruning, along with a variety of smaller trees that had to be removed. Chris and his team tackled it all within a few hours. It was awesome to witness them work together - pruning those massive trees is no joke! Chris has built a truly skilled and solid team. Couple that with his prompt communication and punctual timing - it's awesome! Highly recommend! read more

The team from Trees Company showed up this morning as scheduled, did a marvelous job trimming our tree way back just as requested, then left everything clean and in pristine condition. From the owner's communications to the excellent work done, it's such a pleasure working with professionals who care about their business and the service they provide. LuLu, Duncan, and the other two men on the team did such a good job. read more

I recently had major problems with a number of arborvitae in my yard. Of the 16 trees, I had problems with 5 at first, then 3 more. I had heard good things about Trees Company and called to ask for an on-site visit by their arborist. The owner arranged an appointment within two days. He showed up, masked and ready to assess the situation. He examined all 16, and the 8 trees that needed attention. After checking them out, he provided a very clear, easy-to-understand explanation and his recommendation. He provided a treatment plan, in writing, for the trees. The owner and his crew arrived at pre-arranged time the next morning and expertly handled what I thought was a lost cause. The owner and crew were very professional and knowledgeable and I would highly recommend them to anyone with a tree or bush problem. read more

This is the second time we have used Trees Company and both times the entire team was excellent. We are happy to recommend their service. I was also very happy to see that this year they had a lady as part of their team. Congratulations! read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE GUYS! They were really terrific. First, they responded to me immediately and gave us a very reasonable quote via email - our tree was in the Google maps photos and they were able to know exactly what to do. How cool is that? They showed up on the appointed day at their appointed time and went strait to work. Everyone was really friendly and kind - they greeted my new puppy and made her immediately comfortable around them. They did the work, cleaned everything to perfection, and gave us a 10% discount for paying in cash, which allowed us to tip 10% which is always a win-win. Overall, excellent service and we will definitely use them for all future tree services. read more

Trees Company gets all my business. They're not the lowest price, but they're by far the highest value. Chris and his crews are true professionals, carefully pruning, removing and extricating trees from my tight SF backyard, and leaving the yard better than when they started. They show up right on time, ask the right questions, and complete their work quickly and cheerfully. read more

Chris and the Trees Company team did a great job pruning our trees. He was quick and responsive with the initial quote and provided several revised quotes as we refined the scope of work. They showed up promptly as scheduled, worked very efficiently and did a beautiful job. They cleaned everything up completely - the yard was neater when they finished than when they got here! I can't recommend them enough - beautiful work, good value for the price. read more

I can't recommend Trees Company strongly enough. Chris came onsite to review the work needed to be done (significant trimming of large Metrosideros tree in back, row of privet trees and strawberry tree in front). His bid was fair, timely, and better than another estimate I'd received. His arborist Duncan, along with Julie and Herman, did a great, efficient job - and were very friendly and communicative, ensuring their progress was as I wanted it and making excellent suggestions along the way. I look forward to using them again in the future. read more

Chris gave me a good quote based on photos I sent him. He booked the appointment in as soon as he had availability and he did a great job pruning a tall tree, removing a dead tree and trimming a large shrub. Highly recommend. read more

These guys (& a gal!) did a great job! It wasn't my property, I was letting them on/off the job site, but was very impressed with their work ethic. Someone phoned ahead of time to give me the window of when they would be there. They phoned that morning to ask a question about parking & they had actually gotten to the job early. I wasn't there yet because of cross-town traffic & apologized when I got there & the foreman was gracious & said: "no problem, it gave us a chance to go over safety regulations." I like that they take safety seriously. The crew was very friendly & fast. You could tell that they were knowledgeable, got along with each other, communicated well & liked working together. They creatively found a way to bring the scrap wood out to their chipper without having to drag it through the house. They asked a question half way through about a decision to leave a certain branch intact due to aesthetics & the health of the tree. I took a photo & sent it to the owner via cell phone. The owner appreciated their conscientiousness & agreed with their choice. They left the area cleaner than how it was when they got there. I can't speak for the cost, but they do good work. read more

Tried to get a quote. Told them what I needed. Sent a picture of the tree. They said they needed my personal info, none of which was needed to tell me how much trimming a tree, to give a quote. I declined saying I wanted to know how much it was going to cost before committing. Never heard back. Come on, guys. You know the situation. You've seen the tree. Just give me an idea and I'll be happy to work with you. read more

Chris's company was wonderful with my neighbors Douglas fir. My new neighbors have never ever kept the tree trimmed. It was overgrown in my yard and large branches had fallen occasionally when the wind picks up. Chris's company respects the trees they work on and took great care in trimming the tree on my side. My neighbors who wrote the previous review are just nasty. Chris's company was wonderful on time polite and cleaned up after themselves these Neighbors are just mean-spirited and don't understand the necessity to maintain the trees. All they thought is that I wanted to take it down that was not my intention and it didn't happen. These are the people who complain when people park in front of their house as well. So best to ignore they're posting and read all the other positive postings about this company. I highly recommend them. read more

We have a 'huge' avocado tree toward the back the lot that is not only thick and overgrown, it's also prone to dropping huge avocado bombs on a tenant's car. Owner Chris came out and spent time reviewing this 3+ story monster tree and then submitted a very detailed and explicit bid, which was impressive. There were actually 4 bids, but one was so low, I really couldn't consider it. Considering the three remaining bids, Trees Co. was higher than one and in line with another. The guys from Trees Company arrived right on time. The guys took some precautions by 'ladder covering' a neighbors 'immovable' potted plant, covering 1st floor windows, and they moved another very heavy potted plant to the back yard. The trimming job was absolutely impressive and actually quite artistic. I couldn't imagine this tree looking 'pretty', but it does! The guys thinned and shaped this avocado tree to perfection... the upper apartment will now probably have views, too. As expected, the clean-up was excellent. Highly recommend! Happy to dedicate my first review of 2016 to Chris and his team. There are not enough nice things I can say about him! I had him come trim a tree on my bosses property and through no fault of his, it ended up being the wrong tree. My boss made me pay out of pocket and when I reached out to Chris about the situation, he was kind of enough to offer me a discount even though it meant he would barely be making a profit! I fully expected him to laugh in my face because obviously the work was done and the mistake was totally on our end and not his. Instead he sent me the sweetest email and he was so nice I wanted to cry. Thank you thank you thank you. Don't think twice if you're in need of an arborist! read more

The best Arborist. We've have the fortune/misfortune of owning one of the largest Monterey Cypress trees in SF. Over the past 20 years we've hired many Arborists with mixed results. This tree is over 3 stories high and we dread having to get it trimmed. Chris Altman was a pleasure to deal with. His estimate was fair and they did an outstanding job. They removed a considerable amount (which is what it desperately needed) and pruned all around PGE and telephone wires. We highly recommend Trees Company and will be using their services from here on out. read more

Christopher and his team are truly awesome guys. Excellent at what they do and I could tell from the minute they arrived to remove two large cedar trees in my yard, they work extremely well together. Their estimate for the work was exactly in line with what I was wanting to pay and I couldn't be happier with the quality of their work. You can absolutely trust these guys to do an amazing job at a very fair price. NOTE: You can also see my other yelp review from another landscape company I would suggest avoiding read more

Awesome Arborist! Chris and his team pruned our Victorian Box Tree (Pittosporum undulatum). Trees Company was on-time and on-budget in providing a quote. They showed up during the agreed upon work-window, did the job, cleaned up the area and hauled away the trimmings. Chris is a top-notch arborist. I had been pruning the tree myself each year, but now that the tree has grown to over 30 feet high I needed a professional arborist to fix my previous mistakes and disentangle the foliage from overhead wires. The tree canopy now looks great. Our neighbors hired Trees Company for their property. read more

We had great service from everyone at Trees Company. They were easy to schedule with, gave a good quote, and I'm so happy with the work they did on our overgrown tiny back patio. They trimmed the Jasmine, Angel Trumpet, Cherry Blossom and Lemon trees, cleaned up after their work, and were very clear with instructions for how to prepare. In and out in less than 4 hours! I'll definitely hire them again. read more

I had a big tree in the back yard that was way overgrown. There were also 3 trees between mine and neighbor's house that needed to go before they damage either house. They came, they trimmed, they put it in a BRIGHT PINK shredder, and they were done in 1 day as promised. read more

The stellar crew from Trees Company did a fantastic job of pruning a variety of larger trees in our Inner Sunset community garden. The work included Monterey Cypresses, Elms and a tricky situation with a damaged Grevillea-Silk Oak at our entrance. The crew included experienced tree climbers and arborists and they couldn't have been easier to work with - great clean up, mindful of people walking around, flexible about finding the right place to pull their trucks and chippers in. I would recommend them for any job, large or small. read more

Was really happy with Chris and his team. We just had one Japanese maple we wanted pruned a little to let more light through. I got quotes from 4 companies all with great reviews and theirs was the most reasonable. I was looking for the work to be done several weeks out and it was no problem getting my preferred date. 2 guys worked for a little less than 2 hours to get the work done. They also trimmed back several branches that were hanging over from my neighbor's yard. Overall, a great experience. Cleanup could've been a bit more thorough. I wouldn't expect it to be spotless and they did get the blower out, but there were some thin/small branches under one of the other trees that they didn't pick up and we still swept up a bunch the next day. Would definitely use them again. read more

Great company. Great communication throughout and best price from three companies that bid, Came on day for estimate on time and quickly assessed job. Got quote in 24 hrs and scheduled one week out. Wonderful people and amazing job. I had a magnolia tree that was getting a little out of control in front of my house. I got Chris's number through a friend and he responded right away, was at my house the next day, and by the end of the day I had a quote and was on the schedule. These guys have a smooth process and were very communicative throughout the day. The most important part--my tree now looks fantastic, it makes the front of my house look so much more inviting and brightened up the whole area in front. I couldn't be happier with the job they did and the entire process of working with them. Thank you guys! read more

these guys are the real deal if you are looking for arborists or landscapers...punctual, within budget and with a can do attitude..they took out a 40 foot, twenty year old yucca palm for me..and even popped across the fence to trim a neigbour's palm (with their permission)..meanwhile Penny the dog hung out with me and my dog inside..watching the work Thanks Chris, Randy, Alfredo, Ricky Suave... and Penny..! keywords: arborist, landscape, tree removal read more

I chose Christopher after getting other estimates. So happy about that decision. It makes a difference having someone who really knows what's possible with a tree: an actual arborist. My advise: Hire Trees Company and let them do whatever they think is right. That's what I did and the outcome is better than I imagined. He made a large and damaged Ceanothus, one of the most attractive parts of the yard. It was inspiring. Now I look at every tree in The City and think, wow, if only they hired Christopher ... an arborist who knows what he's doing. read more

Chris is, simply, the best. I have not encountered a business like this in all my years in SF. He has provided services to our home for the last 6 years. He is kind and professional, always on time, and does exactly what he says he will do. I inquired with 5 arborists and he was, by far, the best priced and the one I felt the most comfortable with. I do not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who is requiring this type of service. read more

I have a fig tree that I have been pruning myself for the last 5 years or so. It has continued to grow and I finally realized that, for the long term health of the tree, I needed to find a professional. A few searches and some time on Yelp and I found Trees Company. As their website promises, they were quick to respond. In a few weeks Chris came by to take a look at the tree and we decided on a date about 3 weeks out to do the work. I chose them based on their philosophy of doing what is best for the tree and the customer. I find so many that don't treat trees as living entities. I recommend them, as the work was excellent, on time, and maticulous. As noted elsewhere, they are a little expensive. But, sometime you really do get what you pay for. read more

This is a strange vote/post . . . but it seems relevant. They were the first to respond to my inquiry to several companies on the same day . . . and give me a bid on the work. We tentatively scheduled the work out about two weeks. Meanwhile, another outfit weighed in with a bid and the ability to do the work in one week. That worked better for my schedule, so I pulled the plug on the Trees Co. I thought they'd understandably be annoyed or worse. Instead, I got a gracious response to keep them in mind down the road. That I will. read more

I have used Trees Company several times over the last 3 years and they always do a great job. I have a heavily wooded acre so always have work to do. Their prices are affordable so I can have work done as needed. They always clean up and haul off the wood. Also grind stumps if necessary. Michael and his crew are friendly and fair. All-around very good company. read more

Trees Company removed two small trees for us. They did a good job removing the trees and grinding down the stumps but there was more collateral damage than I expected. My plants which were 7 to 8 feet away from the tree were stepped on and either partially destroyed or completely killed. They also did not cover the surrounding area, so the plants and soil were completely covered in tiny wood shavings. This was avoidable and disappointing so I wonder whether we should have used a different arborist. read more

We had a very positive experience with Trees Company. Last month they trimmed a large eucalyptus tree on our very steep back hill. They were responsive, friendly, and flexible with coming out to the house for a free estimate, providing the estimate via email, scheduling the tree trimming, and then the actual trimming of the tree. Their crew were great! They asked for my input multiple times to ensure they were meeting expectations. They were concerned about safety too. Plus they were flexible enough to take care of a couple more trees which required some minor trimming from staff located on the ground. Also, they arrived early after calling me to ask if it was convenient and then they cleared away the debris quickly after they were done trimming. I would like to use them again for future projects. read more

This was as easy as it gets -- I sent an email with a photo and quick description of the tree I needed trimming. Christopher got back with a very reasonable quote and then came by the next day with his crew and the job was done. They did a superb job of thinning and shaping an out of control tree, cleaned up and were out of there. He answered my questions about the health and protection of the tree as well. Highly recommended! read more

I chose Christopher to deal with the monstrously overgrown fig tree that had taken over our backyard because of the glowing Yelp reviews, and he did not disappoint. He returned my initial phone call quickly, came by the next day for an in-person consultation, and painlessly scheduled the work day for the following week. Once he and right-hand man Randy arrived, we talked again through our plan -- to cut the tree back quite a bit -- but Christopher was very mindful of the aesthetics of our yard as well as the health of both the fig tree and other plants and trees around it. He also took the liberty of trimming back a lot of overgrown plants in our yard, doing so within the time he had quoted me in the estimate. And they cleaned everything up to such a meticulous extent that you'd have never known they were there. In short, our yard is completely transformed. I wish I'd taken a before and after picture. Christopher cares about his work and has the skill to match. read more
