The market always hosts fun live music, and more than once I have spotted an inter-generational dance party by the band. In terms of parking, I recommend checking if there are open spaces at the lot where the market takes place. People are always coming and going, so you might just get a spot!

When I walked in I could smell the cider donuts frying, so in addition to the bread I got an "apple cider donut bread pudding muffin" Yeah, think about that a minute. The corn I got last month was so good you could eat it raw, and this is a great place to pick up local apples as they come into season. If you visit at just the right time, you might even find some Concord grapes (they're like eating grape juice). The homegrown and local selections change with the seasons (oh the bok choy I got last week was so good too!), and they supplement those items with non-local fare so you can get more of what you need in one stop. We've been getting amazing apples and stone fruit from the Maynard farms at the Williamsburg…read morefarmers market for years. But last fall, we had an experience at the orchard itself that we will never forget. We had the best day walking for hours around the beautiful orchard and picking apples. On the way back to the car with our big bag of fruit we realized that neither of us had the key to the car! It must have dropped at some point in the orchard. We were doomed! There was no way we were going to find a small car key within the fields. We walked around for a while looking and gave up we were about to call for a tow. Then we came upon one of the farmers driving the tractor, and showed him the only picture we had taken that entire day. He looked at it for a few seconds and went off in search of the key. 10 or 15 minutes later, we saw him calling for us in the distance. As we got closer, we saw him laughing and shaking his head - amazingly, he had found the needle in the haystack, and we were saved! That day we also got to meet his daughter and grandson, who were taking a ride on his tractor through the orchard and picking apples of their own. Maynard's apples and stone fruit worlds above any of the others we can find in the area, and we stock up every Saturday. But in addition to the quality of the fruit, the farmers are all so nice and always let you taste what's in season before you purchase. And after this experience, it was clear to us that Maynard farms is truly family and community-oriented organization, and made us even happier to buy our fruit from them every week. The farm store, where you pay on the honor system (places like this make me so happy), also has kimchi, eggs, frozen meat of various kinds, and a few baked goods on offer. Just be careful when exiting the lot. If you have a non-SUV, you're likely to bottom out. p.s. Friends just stayed at a separate apartment adjoining the main home on the property and it was quite charming. The creamery / dairy farm also hosts full blown farm stays, evidently. p.p.s. I scoped out their website after our friends stayed at the farm and had to share this page (https://calfandclovercreamery.com/cows) describing the beautiful calves with their beautiful mamas, who are responsible for this delicious milk. We started with a trip to the country store where they had a large array of freshly picked fruits and veggies. We ended up choosing a large container of blackberries and they were fantastic. As someone that is not normally a fan of the tart fruit, these were perfectly tart with a tinge of sweetness at the end. They also tasted as if they had just been picked, so I knew food from the restaurant would be a treat. We ended up choosing the fish and chips. SO UNBELIEVABLE! This was absolutely the best fish and chips I have ever tasted! The fish was perfectly crisped yet warm and flaky on the inside. The fries were also crispy and delicious. The goats outside were also such a treat to see. I haven't left a place in so long with such a large smile, can't wait to return again!
