And you know how that "I really need to back up my hard drive" procrastination goes, right? Let's just say - I've been up since 2:48 a.m. stressing about this situation. #1 - commandeer hubby's computer (not a laptop - why is this screen SO BIG??) #2 - try to get as much work done without sitting in the corner and rocking (stress does weird things to a person...) #3 - Check YELP for the closest IT Repair Specialist who has awesome reviews (and isn't shady ;-) ) YELP "matched" me with Nick, the Computer & Network Expert here in Simi Valley - PERFECT!! Called and left a voicemail message for Nick. Promptly received a text letting me know he would call me in 20 minutes. Fast Forward: Spoke with Nick and he immediately put me at ease by letting me know he could save the info on my hard drive (feel that breeze? It's me finally exhaling after a l-o-n-g night). I drove to Nick's - what a nice guy! SUPER intelligent and very down to earth about his incredible talents. I don't want to divulge "trade secrets" (capes, magic wands, etc.), but he really did magically get my laptop working, provided me with a robust external hard drive that he built right in front of me (CRAZY!!), repaired the inside (SUPER techy stuff), cleaned out the inside (ahem, I have 3 cats and their hair gets in EVERYWHERE, evidently), and ran some double-triple checks on it. We regret not getting her name, but the young woman behind the printer counter today around 11ish was such a kind heart. Without a word she told us she would provide us with some coupons to make the price for the brochures go down. Was patient asking what we needed and had a wonderfully calm spirit during the whole process. Later today my Mum went to pick up the finalized brochures and inside was a condolences card from her and the staples team. Made me and mom melt. He asked for my printer model first, which seemed harmless, but then refused to provide any actual prices or quotes until I gave him my full company name, phone number, and physical address. It's now been almost two weeks, and I've received zero pricing information despite multiple follow-ups. He continues to push for more personal/business details while dodging basic questions. The use of a free Hotmail account with two different names is a massive red flag, and he claims to represent "this company" without ever naming it clearly or providing legitimate contact info.
