I've been following this shop for a while because I love their variety of different styles and artists. I came in on Friday the 13th to get a flash tattoo, and I have to say it was one of my best experiences at a shop. All the staff were nice and patient with the customers, and their system for the discounted flash was efficient. This review is for Jake! Big thanks to him for making the experience so enjoyable. We talked almost the entire time and I felt very comfortable despite how nervous I felt getting tatted in a painful area. I couldn't send him exact reference photos for my idea since canaries aren't popular tattoos and it was hard to find them in flight in photos, but Jake definitely studied the bird and the ideas I sent him! I loved how it turned out. I book a consultation in May, spoke in July, and got tatted in December. Definitely don't be scared to double text when planning. Came in at 10am on a Saturday. The setup took pretty long and the breaks in between were super long. I left around 2:30. The rate was $180/hour. I was charged a bit over 2 hours. The time went by fast! I was super impressed by the difference in styles from the artists around the shop. They are crazy talented! read more

This review is for CJ who did my shoulder tattoo. He was very professional and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. He drew exactly what I wanted (a snake wrapped around bamboos). It's probably my favorite piece on me and I have a lot of tattoos. I wish I knew about this shop and CJ earlier because I would of just stuck with him for all my tattoos. Had a consultation with Toti last Saturday and he's booked 'til April-May next year. Luckily, someone cancelled this month and I was able to get my tattoo today. When I asked about what his plan is, he said that he didn't have an idea yet. I was so curious but my husband said just to trust Toti. He started drawing on my leg and the layout looks fine. After almost two hours, my tattoo is done. Toti did an excellent job! Even my husband liked the outcome. For a first timer like me, the pain was not that bad, except for the knee part but it was tolerable. Now I understand why he's fully booked. read more

This is my fourth tattoo shop, and it is by far the best! Now that I know this place exists, I can't imagine going anywhere else. Chris is the best! He is thorough, has great attention to detail, works very hard, his technique is gentle and precise, and he is a high-character guy. I can't speak any higher of Chris, he exceeded all expectations. I really enjoyed my time with Chris, and everyone at the shop. They really make you feel like family. It is very clean and very comfortable. The vibe in the shop is the best that I've been to. Tip for parking. When you see HBTat2 on your right make the next available right turn into a small parking lot behind the buildings. Location is beautiful , easy to get to, safe, clean, warm & welcoming. CJ is the man. Always on time, professional, personable, and a SICK artist. He's gone to San Jose HBtat2 for me because I wouldn't be able to leave work in time and this time he came straight from the airport to the shop for our appt today. Highly recommend this place. Artists are very talented and easy to work with. Location is convenient right off of the freeway and the shop is very clean. Came in for a consultation for our son and booked an appointment for the following week. The knowledge of tribal tattoos and the meaning behind them impressed me the most. 4 of my sessions with Chris have been at the San Jose location, but man was I glad that he took on the shop in the Walnut Creek area because the 20 minute drive is much nicer than an hour and a half. I came back to Chris to add to my shoulder, and of course, again, he did an amazing job. If you look at my review of the San Jose Humble Beginnings, his quality of work hasn't changed at all, and you'll know how much I love his work and respect this establishment, but this Walnut Creek location needed some yelp love too. The place is clean and such a great vibe, they make you feel really comfortable. Wouldn't trust my tribal tattoo with anyone else. read more

New East Bay location. This East Bay extension of Humble Beginnings in San Jose will be run by Chris Gonzales. His work is beyond exceptional and was the reason I went to the San Jose location to get work done. I will be coming out her to finish the chest piece Chris has been working on for me. The soft opening seems to be a hit, all the San Jose Humble family came out for this event. I can already tell this new location will be a hit with how many people have come out to support this new location. With Chris at the helm here amazing art will flow. Got my second tattoo from Langky Lefty Jake. We came by the shop a while back and let him know the main idea of what we wanted. He drew up a few designs and we came back a few weeks later and got them done. Everyone was really great and friendly. I called a couple of weeks ago to make an appointment for a consultation. I had a tattoo of my daughter's name on my back already but felt like it didn't have life and hated how plain and boring it was. Its not what represents my daughter at all. Well the person I talked to told me to just drop in since it was just a small piece and see which artist I wanted to do my tattoo. Chris was there and I got to talk to him a little bit. He had actually done tattoos for a few of my friends and other mutual friends. I love how their tattoos turned out so I made the appointment with him. A week later, he went over my existing tattoo with me and sketched over it a little with a pen. I wasn't sure yet what I was looking at but I trusted his work so I said to do what he thought would look best. He didn't even need a full hour (probably 45 minutes) and he was done. I love love love how it turned out. It's so beautiful and it means so much more to me. And let me add that he is super chill and all good vibes - as well all the rest of the whole shop. My experience here was so nice I already referred a few people. Hopefully they'll drop in soon. Thank you so much, Chris. I'm for sure coming back when I decide to add more. read more

I was meaning to write a review but it slipped my mind. It was my first time ever getting a tattoo and I clearly wasn't super prepared for it. I walked in around 2 hours before they closed, and Jake was available because he had a cancellation. He was willing to draw out what I had in mind for my tattoo, found a good spot on my shoulder for it, and was ready to jump in right away. While he was working on it he was extremely nice and careful with it, and was good at having conversation and easing me into the whole process. I was definitely a bit of a pain when it came to my inexperience but he was patient and I can't stress enough how important that was in deciding to follow through with getting the tattoo. He did a great job and is definitely a great artist and a great guy guy overall. The atmosphere of the place was great with art everywhere and it was really neat. My first tattoo experience was great and I owe it to Jake and the rest of Humble Beginnings. I definitely recommend you check them out, whether you are brand new or are looking for great quality work. Thank you guys! He turn my fuck up tattoo into a better one and also did a cover up n everything else he did on my shoulder and my whole forearm is clean. Highly recommend Peair if you want legit work to be done. She let us choose a jewelery and backing, and there were so many options. Shebalso answered all our questions before we were directed ti the register to pay. From there, we waited to be called up for the piercing. The wait is a bit long but is ubder 30 minutes. While waiting, I looked around and notice the shop is very clean and well organized. They have a price list on the wall and their piercings are decently priced. The piercing went well and thwy were so attentive and will definitely come back for future piercings ans def would recommend them.

I sent her lots of reference images and the tattoo she created was exactly what I wanted. Her communication was consistent and she got back to me quickly whenever I had questions. I wanted a fine line design with some ornamental touches and I'm so happy with my result. The studio is very welcoming, clean and comfortable. My tattoo was pretty large for my first one, but I felt fine the entire time and Arie checked on me consistently. Applying the stencil took time, but I'm grateful for that because the placement was exactly what I wanted. We ended up going bigger day of and seeing the piece on my body with a stencil was super helpful in getting it right. I really appreciated Arie's calm demeanor & attention to detail! I get so many compliments on my tattoo, and I'm already planning to come back for more. The healing process was a breeze and my skin was never irritated, even immediately after my tattoo was completed.
