This was the worst service/ cleanliness place I have been to! We started off ordering in the drive thru, we had never been here before, and the girl taking our order was very rushed. When we got to the window we paid for the order, and waited for the order to be ready. The girl working behind the drive thru HAILEY, proceeded to hand us our straws, that were not wrapped with her bare hands! Not only that she didn't wash them nor did she have a glove on! I asked for a wrapped straw or if she could please wash her hands and get us new straws. She rolled her eyes and went to do so. We got new straws, and then while still waited I watched HAILEY GRAB HER MASK AND TAKE A DRINK FROM HER PERSONAL BEVERAGE WHILE HOLDING THE STRAW AND WITH NO REGARD FOR SANITIZATION OR CROSS CONTAMINATION OR COVID SHE PLACES HER DRINK BACK UP ON THE ICE CREAM MACHINE AREA NEXT TO THE SYRUPS! Daughter loves their burgers here. yes, the burgers were worth the longer wait. We always save our tummies for hula's on the way home. She had guacamole burger with fries. The lettuce were not shredded like at other fast food place and they had all the goodies fresh and tasty. (Just paid $50 for a hamburger, a grilled cheese, and kids chicken strips, and 3 medium milk shakes- when I asked at the window why.. they informed me that prices went up 5% a week and a half ago). This was my husband and my first visit. I was charmed with the atmosphere but the drawback was no handicapped seating out front or inside. My husband is in a wheelchair so he had to lean in from the side table. Filthy, poor service, and food made me sick. The baby chairs were crusted with food and sticky. Once I lysol wiped the chair and the table, I began to notice more filth. There is memorabilia everywhere which is fine, if you can keep it clean. Didn't dare do the finger test anywhere in this place. I could visibly see dust and grime everywhere. Didn't even want to take my chances with the bathroom so my 3yr old and I just "held it." Service was terrible. People seemed unintelligent and lazy. Couldn't get anything we asked for. I had to get up 3x and track down a server for what we needed. Our food took a long time to come. The food was good even though in the back of my mind I was trying to ignore the fact that we were sitting in a cesspool of germs and filth. We ate, paid, and left. I'm quite surprised at the low reviews! I've been here probably 3-4 times now, going there every so often when we are driving through Escalon (what else would you be doing there?) I will agree there is no "system" that they have, but after you've been here once you know to just sit down with a menu. Now up until yesterday, I probably would've given this place 5 stars because of how good it has been. I need to start remembering names, but the burger I got had pinneapple on it, and my BF got the bacon cheeseburger. Both were DELICIOUS! And of course we can't come here without getting a milkshake. Equally delicious! The problems I had yesterday were with the garlic fries & the heat. The garlic fries were cold and incredibly greasy. I've had these before, and they aren't usually this bad. But I couldn't eat them. Yes, it was very hot outside..but inside should not be equally as hot. That's great that you have a big ass standing fan, but you're just blowing more hot air into my face. I have driven by this place hundreds of times, and finally stopped by on my way back to the Bay Area from Pinecrest. Service was friendly and efficient. Menu choices were plentiful (burgers are the focus of their menu) and there were vegitarian choices which made one person in our group very happy. We sat outside on a Sunday afternoon. Traffic whizzes by and the flies were around, but that didn't detract from a nice lunch. Hula's is now on our list of places (along with Shively's)to eat when heading to or from the high Sierras. read more

The drive through sucks! I waited in the drive through for 30 minutes. Waiting at the speaker for 7 minutes and no one came on to take my order. I pulled around to the window and there were two cars in front of me. Finally got to the window to order after another 10 minutes. Once I ordered it was another 15 minutes or so until I got my food. I would say call and order over the phone but the last time I tried that they hung up on me twice because they couldn't hear me. I tried calling from my work phone and my cell phone. Maybe they need to invest in a better drive through ordering system and phone system?!?!? Foods ok. I ordered a BLT and they put onion on it! Who puts onion on their BLT's?? So, this is my second time here and I will be back. I love a good burger and they have just that. It's a perfect stop for me on the way to or more likely the way back from backpacking in Yosemite. They have many burgers to chose from but I've had a burger w/ Avocado, Jack cheese, Bacon and Jalapeños both times and both times it was the bomb. They also sever breakfast all day which is awesome and I would have given it 5 stars but feel like I should taste more of the food first. The service is friendly and the food came out pretty quick. But one of the hidden gems is that you get a free mini ice cream with your meal. Gotta love that touch. read more

Finally went here for a late lunch to try their burgers. Had the pineapple teriyaki burger with sweet potato fries. Burger was huge and very good, sweet potato fries were crispy and hot. Owner was there and was very friendly. Clean and safe place to go right off the highway and they have a drive thru where you can call in before pick up. Came with a complementary soft serve which hit the spot because I would have exploded if I had anymore food. My husband had garlic fries which were good as well. I would recommend to at least try the place as prices are reasonable for what you get. Will be going back for sure! read more

Asked if it was made with hot fudge and the lady at the register took $10 out of her Register and opened her window and said here take it and get out of here. First time here at Hula's. The place is pretty average sized. It looks like a small hut or house in a parking lot. There's an indoor and outdoor seating. Indoor is just like a dine-in restaurant where you order from a menu and the waitress caters. Outdoor is just like a fast food restaurant. Kind of reminds me of Zippy's from Hawaii. Considering it was my first time, I ordered a Hula Burger which comes with fries or salad and a complimentary ice cream (What?!). The waitress(es) are very kind and attractive ;p And the service is pretty good. No problems ordering or waiting or nothing like that The food came out rather quickly and was made fresh. The burger and fries is probably one of the best I've had in a while to be honest. ...and as I was looking through the menus, I couldn't help but notice that they serve beer. I might have to bring a couple of friends here to just have a beer and eat. I'd definitely stop by here again. Hubby and I have driven past Hulas from Oakdale for years and regret not stopping here earlier. Today we finally stopped! Ordered the teriyaki burger and sweet potato fries which were finger licking good. The COLD Sierra Nevada made this meals ending memorable. I ordered a milkshake, it was "eh". I may have been expecting an In and Out milkshake but that may be a whole new set of milkshake standards in itself. Overall we rate this little burger and everything else stop a 4 of 5.
