Create your own Poke Bowl #1
Joseph E.

Looking for something different that was low carb, high protein but also not too heavy, I came across hula poke. The inside is a cafeteria/deli style, create your own bowl down the line ordering with a lot of options to choose from. I can't honestly remember all the options I put in my bowl as there were soo many to choose from but my bowl was delicious. The proteins, veggies and sauces I added were all my favorites so it couldn't disappoint. All my proteins were some sort of seafood which kept the overall meal light yet satisfying. Overall, I really liked Hula Poke and look forward to coming back to try a different combination of ingredients and come up with a new favorite.

Made my husband take me here on a Monday evening when I was craving poke bowls. We each got a bowl and an order of Takoyaki. I must say I was disappointed in the cookie-scooper protein portions. Not exaggerating on the cookie scooper. Rice was also hard from it being so cold. But I did like all the topping and sauce options, which made it pretty good. My husband got shrimp tempura in his bowl and the girl made it when he ordered it so it was fresh. The highlight of the meal was the Takoyaki. I was pretty impressed with the crispyness and flavor. Overall it was just okay and did the trick for my craving. I wish their protein scoops were bigger than a little spoon. Service was friendly as well!

Craving for some Japaneezee poke, this is the joint. A nice service from the front lady (the owners sis), and the place is just nice to dine in with. Calm ambiance to enjoy your meal.

We stopped by here for a quick lunch and were instantly greeted. I was initially hesitant in coming here mainly because I genuinely didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised with how fresh everything looked and tasted. They had lots of options including spicy tuna, ahi tuna, salmon and even eel. I liked the choice to have brown rice instead of sushi rice if you so choose. My husband and I really enjoyed our bowls. I didn't however think it was worth the $46 to eat here, I would have rather gone out for sushi or something else instead BUT for poke & the times, I guess it's okay. I would eat here again if I was close by but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.

Very poor food quantity! You pay $17 for " 3 scoop protein " but you get 1 and 1/2 scoop in total.

Hula Poke used to be my go-to for poke but had a really negative experience with my last delivery order - got the 2 protein scoop bowl and the amount of fish was laughable -there were literally 3 pieces of fish. Not sure what kind of spoon they use to measure a "scoop"... Maybe a baby spoon? Also there was a piece of hair found on one of the toppings!

Inside was very humid, white rice I got was hard, and kind of expensive for a large amount of white rice and about 7 pieces of salmon with a light drizzle of sauce. Once I got home and added extra sauce I had, got better. I've had this at a different location and was much better at a different restaurant

My daughter and I called in our order for pick up on our way home from Pipe Creek back to Converse. We called at 8:30pm. Their scheduled hours were until 9:30 here on Yelp. We would get to the restaurant to pick up our food just after 9pm. Perfect right? However during the current pandemic, like more businesses they close early. So we were very surprised to find out they had closed at 8pm! They did NOT decline service and tell us they are already closed. These wonderful people took our order. To top it off...Knowing we would not be there for another 30 minutes, they still fulfilled our order. They even waited a little bit to make the order as fresh as possible knowing I wouldn't be there right away. They were incredibly kind and delightful people. Their food is so fresh and delicious! It was our first time ever trying the Sushirito and I was amazed at how delicious it was! My daughter also ordered a sushirito and absolutely loved it. My husband ordered a Poke bowl with everything spicy he could possible get. The lady gave him a bonus side of wasabi aioli, saying she thinks he would enjoy it. He did! He LOVED it! This is now our favorite place to stop for food on our way back into San Antonio from visiting my parents land.

Ordering is counter service, but we sat at the sushi bar so we were able to order everything directly and watch our rolls made fresh right in front of us. We were given extra kudos for ordering Japanese drinks to go with our food. All the food was great. The fry dumplings were hot and perfectly crispy and the rolls were chilled and super fresh. My husband loved his voodoo roll (crawfish, jalapeño). My spicy tuna was simple, but just as it was supposed to be. Price wasn't bad either. Two rolls, an appetizer, a bottled tea, and a beer came out to just over $40.

For ramen, I recommend the "red" Aka Fuku. For udon noodles, the tofu was delicious as well if you need a vegetarian option. There is a small kids' menu and other non-noodles traditional Japanese dishes available as well. For drinks, there are the standard soft drink options, hot teas(or cold), beer, and wine. The atmosphere is very casual, but not to the point of feeling like a rushed lunch hour. It was not very crowded on our visit, but I noticed they probably get more to-go orders than seated service. Hoka Hoka Fuku is an excellent choice in the area if you're looking to have Japanese food. I can't wait to go back and try this place for dinner.

Delicious rich broth and added some sriracha for a kick. Ramen noodles were ok, but would have preferred my fave, udon. I just love the thicker noodles. Server stated udon was a not possibility for the kuro black soup. Friends also ordered the steamed and pan fried chicken gyoza. Service was prompt and establishment was clean. Good food.

The listening bar concept paired with their state-of-the-art custom sound system makes the atmosphere feel immersive from the second you walk in. The music, lighting, and outstanding service all work together perfectly when you're trying to unwind and decompress after a long week. The lychee martini was smooth, refreshing, and extremely lychee forward. I really enjoyed how they garnished the drink with two whole lychees. I was in heaven and I can honestly say this was one of my favorite cocktails I've had in the city (Thanks for the recommendation Annabelle). Food-wise, everything felt elevated and pieced together beautifully on each plate. The truffle creamy miso soup was warm & comforting with just the right amount of depth and the Asian pear cucumber salad was perfect to cleanse the palate after the soup. The Hawaiian ono was another standout that absolutely delivered. That cilantro oil and the yuzu dance together well with the soft & silky ono. I also really enjoyed the scallop crudo, it also has cilantro oil but this time with ponzu foam. This combination was so good that I absolutely had no shame sipping the married liquid components on the plate between each bite of scallop. Lastly, the wagyu mochi gnocchi is unreal--rich, melt in your mouth mochi gnocchi, savory shrimp and tender wagyu, and this velvety sauce that's semi addicting. This surf-and-turf style dish with seafood and wagyu is where Yozora really flexes; every bite felt balanced, indulgent, and beautifully plated. (This particular evening the sauce on the mochi gnocchi was a touch spicier for me than the first time I visited but I enjoyed every last bite nonetheless). I went a little ham and didn't have room for dessert this time unfortunately. Next time Huge shoutout to my server Annabelle, who made the entire night seamless. My water never even got close to empty, her recommendations were spot on, and she somehow balanced taking care of the bar while still making her tables feel attended to. The rest of the staff even tag teamed service throughout the dining room which I always enjoy seeing. It says a lot about how well the staff and overall concept works together there. Symphony for the soul. Thank you again Annabelle and team for making the whole evening easy to enjoy and adding so much to the experience. Yozora absolutely lives up to the hype. At $21.95, you get your money's worth with just (2) Chef's Special rolls! This information isn't readily available on the provided menu; I'm basing this off their online ordering prices. I started off with tuna tataki (2), spicy tuna nigiri, and red snapper nigiri. The toppings on the tataki were refreshing against the tuna. On the flip side, the spicy tuna nigiri had a nice kick to it. The red snapper nigiri was solid, but outshined by the tuna. I ordered green mountain, shaggy dog, and rainbow rolls after that. Green mountain was fresh, not too spicy! My tastes are veering to away from heavy flavors like spicy mayo or cream cheese currently, but I still enjoyed this one. The "crunch" in the description could have been crunchier for better contrast, but maybe it's an aesthetic thing to look like "snow" on the green mountain. The shaggy dog roll was my absolute favorite this visit! This roll gave me the crunch I was looking for in the green mountain roll. The flavors worked really well together. Rainbow roll is always solid! The white fish topping was my least favorite of the four, but every bite was fresh which is why it's such a staple roll. I was slowing down at this point so I ordered dessert at the same time as my last roll: fried oreos (2) & green tea ice cream and the spicy crunch roll. The spicy crunch roll was fine, but same issue with the green mountain roll of the crunch and mild spice. I really like spicy, so this may be hot enough for someone else. I also add wasabi to my soy sauce for a different type of spicy. The fried oreos had that classic light breading typical of tempura and complemented the green tea ice cream well. I may try other ice cream flavors next time. All in all, I'd come back for this deal and try more rolls. Cheers!

I was immediately annoyed because the music was very loud to me. That could have been due to the empty restaurant, the actual volume or my perception of the volume lol. I was really hoping for a more intimate vibe for conversation. The speakeasy lounge actually looked more like the vibe that I desired but I settled in and placed my order. I wanted some of the showier selections seen on IG, so I ordered the tuna tower and flaming Romeo & Juliet roll and a cute (albeit sweet) cocktail that came in a goldfish shaped glass. When the tuna tower arrived the young server asked me something several times which I couldn't hear over the music, so I just nodded. After she smashed the tuna tower, I figured out she was asking if I wanted it mixed. Lol my bad! I actually did not want it mixed but it was delicious anyway. The Romeo and Juliet roll took forever to stop flaming but once it died down, it was absolutely delicious. My partner enjoyed his roll as well and they gave him a complimentary birthday desert with sparklers. Overall I give service a 3. I would have liked a more professional presentation of the menu, hyping it up a bit. And a less soft spoken server. The food was a solid 5, everything was fresh and scrumptious. Overall I give Uni'ko 4 stars and I look forward to returning. I thought it was a good value given the extra razzle dazzle and food quality.
