Looking for something different that was low carb, high protein but also not too heavy, I came across hula poke. The inside is a cafeteria/deli style, create your own bowl down the line ordering with a lot of options to choose from. I can't honestly remember all the options I put in my bowl as there were soo many to choose from but my bowl was delicious. The proteins, veggies and sauces I added were all my favorites so it couldn't disappoint. All my proteins were some sort of seafood which kept the overall meal light yet satisfying. This review is for the boba drink. We ordered two Taro boba milk tea. It wasn't mixed well and we had some powder in the bottom of our drinks that we needed to be mixed. The drink itself tasted more like milk. I couldn't taste any tea flavor. The boba is chewy and tasted good. Because of that, I didn't leave a tip, if she had been friendlier and given me the time to actually finish my order, I absolutely would have tipped. As for the food, the bowl itself was decent, but not great. I'd give it a 6.5/10. The flavors were fine, but the service really left a bad taste in my mouth. With so many poke places around, I don't think this location is the best option. My daughter and I called in our order for pick up on our way home from Pipe Creek back to Converse. We called at 8:30pm. Their scheduled hours were until 9:30 here on Yelp. We would get to the restaurant to pick up our food just after 9pm. Perfect right? However during the current pandemic, like more businesses they close early. So we were very surprised to find out they had closed at 8pm! They did NOT decline service and tell us they are already closed. These wonderful people took our order. To top it off...Knowing we would not be there for another 30 minutes, they still fulfilled our order. They even waited a little bit to make the order as fresh as possible knowing I wouldn't be there right away. They were incredibly kind and delightful people. Their food is so fresh and delicious! It was our first time ever trying the Sushirito and I was amazed at how delicious it was! My daughter also ordered a sushirito and absolutely loved it. My husband ordered a Poke bowl with everything spicy he could possible get. The lady gave him a bonus side of wasabi aioli, saying she thinks he would enjoy it. He did! He LOVED it! Soon as my sister and I walked in the server Haley greeted us & asked have we been there before, once we told he no she immediately began to advise how it works. She did a great job at explaining the process & describing the menu to us. She made excellent recommendations. I ordered 2 scoop protein bowl (chicken, shrimp tempura, broccoli, spinach, jalapeño, red onions, red cabbage, house classic dressing, toppings wonton crisps, crab salad. My sister order 2 protein bowl as well with Chicken and shrimp tempura lettuce cucumbers sweetcorn with the house classic dressing her toppings were avocado and also Wonton crisps. This is the first poke place I have ever been to. Anyways... my girlfriend convinced me we should try this place out. The first time we went, I decided to get a sushi burrito! Let me start off by saying, I don't do the raw fish yet... I am trying but the texture is taking awhile for me to get used to! So for now, I am sooo thankful they have a couple options of cooked meat like there shrimp and chicken! I love the fact that they have your proteins, your veggies and then sauces and then various toppers to give you an extra crunch factor if you love texture... which I do! I was not all that fond of the burrito... but its completely personal preference. I just didn't like the cold seaweed wrap. I ended up scraping everything out onto me little tray and just ate the filling. Which was delicious! I was somewhat skeptical and it all being cold... but it was super refreshing and light. The second time we went, I obviously went with a bowl instead of a burrito and let me tell you... even if I did like the burrito... the bowl would always be my choice! In my opinion you get so much more product for the bowl.. I wasn't even able to finish mine! I only got a few veggies this time and once they realized that... they went back and added more of the ones I selected which was awesome because Edamame is one of my FAVORITE things to eat!! My son wanted to go here today. I was open to it. I am a big fan of sushi. I liked this place and didn't like it. First of all, I did somewhat enjoy my sushirito, which is like a giant burrito-sized sushi roll with whatever contents you select rolled up into it. Unfortunately, that is what I didn't like about it. I don't like having to go through a line picking stuff to put on mine. I have a tendency to put too many things and lose the taste integrity of the elements I really like. I ended up with a semi-pleasant mismatched blob of "semi-sushi" tasting stuff. I was full. I liked the taste. But, I left craving sushi. With a tip, we spent over $51.22. I think I would rather go to a real sushi restaurant and really get what I like at that price. read more

I was in a new area and craving sushi. Hula poke was the first restaurant to pop up on yelp, it also had great reviews so I figured I would head out there. The first thing that struck me was the set up. It reminded me of a chipotle-style venue. You tell them what you want in your bowl. The price a dictated by the amount of protein you would like in your bowl. You can choose between two and three scoops. Additionally, you can get a burrito, but I wanted a bowl with sushi rice this time. You can choose from specific bowls (those are in the menu) or you can choose to make your own. I chose to make my own. I went down to line adding in whatever I thought looked good. The time came for me me to choose my sauce. I asked a staff member what they thought would work with my combination, that recommendation was great. I think it was a combination of spicy garlic and something else. I topped my creation with ginger and went on my way. The flavors worked really well together. I loved that The sauce brought everything together. The bowl was surprisingly filling. Decided to give this place a try and they were not busy at all the night we went. Ladies, were just sitting around on their phones. One poke bowl with 2 proteins and extra toppings came out to $17, a bit pricey but thought as long it was good it would be worth it. Made a good sushirito. The menu is pretty easy to understand. The ingredients where fresh.

When I walked through the door, I was impressed how clean and organized everything was, and when a place serves raw fish, that definitely gave me a warm and fuzzy. After exploring the menu, I decided on the two protein bowl with salmon, spicy tuna, and white rice. I added some crispy veggies, chose my toppings and crunchies, topped everything with the house dressing, and set out to enjoy my bowl. The fish tasted clean and sweet. Even the spicy tuna tasted fresh, and had just the right amount of heat without overpowering the flavor of the fish. The veggies were also fresh and impeccably crisp, but when I took a bite of the krab salad, the enjoyment stopped there. Although most krab salads don't taste like real crab, they generally have a slightly sweet flavor to them, without any "off" odors. This krab not only had an off odor, it tasted extremely "fishy" (old), and was completely inedible. This fish was far past its' prime! So I removed the offending fish from my bowl, placed it on the metal tray, and continued with the remainder of my meal, which I enjoyed. I stopped at the counter before leaving to advise the woman of the unpalatable food, and very politely suggested she might want to check into it. She became quite defensive and told me this krab has a different taste, but it wasn't bad. She then rolled her eyes at the girl standing next to her as I began walking away. I can assure you the flavor of this fish was unpleasant, and it reeked of the familiar ammonia odor seafood develops as it ages. The fact she chose to provide excuses instead of pulling it from the cooler, tells me far more about this establishment than its food. My advise: If you choose to patronize this establishment, stay clear of the krab salad, and be sure to get a good whiff of the fish you ordered prior to taking a bite. If you find the quality of your meal isn't up to par, don't expect resolution from the staff. I'm glad I didn't get sick that evening, and I sure hope no one does! I'm giving this establishment 3 stars because the entire experience was not horrible. The employee I dealt with should definitely be retrained, or they are bound to lose business. read more

What a great find! We adore sushi and first time here. This place offers a sushirrito which is just like having a sushi roll that's uncut you eat all by yourself and don't have to share.
