Sushi Seven 7-1-24. / We popped in to try a new place and ate so glad we did. Not busy at this time (early afternoon) and friendly host to seat us and take our order. We ordered the Vegetable Rice and a Spicy Salmon Roll (no spice add avocado). Fresh and delicious! Only thing I'd change is the music choice. It's a bit loud and not the peaceful music that compliments sushi meals ;-) We will most definitely come back. ~LindaD

Amazing sushi made with love and smiles! Great atmosphere with professional friendly staff. Food quality is way beyond the best in town. Well done Sushi Seven, keep it up.

I got the rainbow roll! I liked the variety of this option with the avocado and the salmon and the tuna. I am not the biggest sushi expert, but I thought this was pretty good. Doug uses were OK. Nothing too special about them. They might have been more fresh if I had ate it at the restaurant. I ordered this through Postmates!

Well I hate to be the guy that doesn't give this place a 5 star rating, but seeing how Sushi is my absolute favorite food, I have a tendency to have strong opinions on this type of cuisine. I have been pretty excited to have a sushi place open that so close to the house, but after my first visit to this location I was not overly impressed. Let's start on the overall appearance of the place. It's minimal in decor which is fine, but the folding table with a table cloth over it for the cash register is not a good look in the overall appearance of inside. The menu is the same as their other location, which offers a ton of options which is a good thing for those that aren't just going for sushi. We started with their soft shell crab and spicy edamame. The edamame seemed like it was cooked a while back and was barely warm when we got it at the table. There is nothing like edamame that is steamed and brought to the table hot, but this was not the case here. Regarding the soft shell crab, it also seemed like it was cooked ahead of service and reheated, however this too was barely warm when we got it and a bit soggy. The rolls we ordered were ok, but honestly nothing to write home about. I ordered the snapper nigiri only to find the sushi rice was cold, not warm as it should be and the fish was cut thicker than it should have been for nigiri. The place was clean, and the service was good, but if you are looking for great inspired sushi that will leaving you wanting to come back for more, this isnt that place...at least for me. I'll give it a couple months to work out the kinks and try it again. I'm hoping my follow up review will raise it's star rating.

    Salmon Sashimi cut thinly
    Ashley A.

This was my first time here at Sushi Seven... I ordered the salmon sashimi cut thinly which was extremely fresh tasting. Many people would think the silvery bit on the salmon is not okay but it indicates getting the belly portion of the salmon which is extremely tasty. I then got a fried roll, this roll was not my favorite but still I think people who like Japanese mayonnaise would like it. My service was good and prompt my server Juan was informative and very friendly, I love being able to see the chef work. The ambience could be worked on though, it seemed very cold decor wise... I would think this would be the perfect date night if the decor was a tad bit more inviting. Otherwise, Great food, and great service.

First time here visiting from Dallas and I have to say, this spot is legit! Do yourself a favor and get the Toro Roll! Service was prompt and the flavors were wonderful! Definitely will come back when I'm in town!

We had been wanting to try this place for a while and so glad we did! We've found a new casual quick date night spot. The rolls were delicious and we finished our meal with some mochi (also delicious!) Ulysses provided excellent service, we'll be back shortly to try other menu items.

Super good! Was looking for a to go sushi spot near me since my normal place closed. Decided to give this a try for Valentine's Day and over all was over all really happy with how easy it was to place an order on their site and the pick up process. The sushi seven roll is amazing! Definitely will order from here again.

I am willing to give better score later if the following items are addressed. It could be a 3 Star or 4 Star normally. Arriving at Sushi Seven was a little inconvenient when you come from UTSA Blvd. Visually there doesn't look like there is an entrance straight ahead, and instead I turned onto Vance Jackson . This causes you to have to do a U-turn by apartments which seems dangerous as people leaving the apartment will not be expecting you turning around. Issue 1 (minus 1 star), I looked online and saw they had Bento Boxes for lunch so I decided to bring a guest and try it out . They ended up not having that "yet" on their normal printed menu as told by the waitress. Seems they have been open for a while now so what is the deal?? Issue 2 (minus 1 star) there are NO PRICES on their printed menu nor are there any lunch specials after finding out they have no lunch Bento boxes. C'mon, just put the items on a plate I don't need a tray. Also we were recommended to look at our phones anyway, so there is a conflict if you aren't offering what is online!!!(see issue1) Issue 3(minus 1 star) although the waitress was VERY NICE , she was annoyingly at the table way too much, in a matter of minutes just passing by, almost after every bite. "We are good...everything tastes great" at least 3-4 times, then another for refills and another for if we would like to order more food, and another for ordering more food. (We did not want to order more) I'd recommend to relax, we can wave you down. It's not critical to interrupt that much. Highlights of the meal include the presentation of the food being top notch so kudos to the chef. Another highlight was the taste of the food. Both the Dragon roll and Rainbow roll were nice as well as the bowl of miso soup. It was around $50 for lunch (approx $40+$8 tip) so prepare your wallet. Definitely not a dine-in type of place for lunch if you expect specials or to keep it cheap. I did hear a lot of printed online orders going on so take that as a recommendation to order it and pickup to save on lunch time meals. I'd say this is more of a dinner type place but do take caution as there is very limited seating. It's small in there.

After Tuesday visit, the rating remains on 5, but only because we had an amazing time on Sunday. Maybe on Tuesday there was a different chef, but food just didn't taste the same, and a few Sunday dishes we asked for on Tuesday (standard menu) were sold out. Both times I had rice lager specially brewed for the restaurant, and it was delicious. An absolute highlight on Sunday was the dish called Hand of God - the smoky wagyu on top of the rice cake was just an absolute perfection, not anything I had before (this dish was not available on Tuesday). We also had similarly smoky vegetable roll which was also experience in itself. This was my first time at the sushi restaurant where waiter suggested that the nigiri pieces are perfectly ready to eat, require no extra soy sauce or wasabi, and should be picked up by hand instead of chopsticks - another wonderful experience. I also had few different nigiri piece, two different types of mackerel and uni - an absolute wow (on Sunday). Service was good both days, but still a little bit better on Sunday (better recommendations). Definitely recommended.

Fortunately, the atmosphere was enhanced by the Spurs game, which was entertaining despite the disappointing outcome. The service was attentive, professional, and contributed positively to the overall experience. Would I return? Quite possibly - particularly with a companion whose company better complements the quality of the venue.

We didn't realize this place was a cousin of Shiro and owned by the same guy until we saw some similarities in their style, layout and menu but nevertheless, the food was still absolutely amazing. Even though the ambiance had some similarities, I'm glad their food options were distinguished because otherwise could have just gone downtown. You cannot go wrong with any of their food options. Highly recommend doing family style so you can get a taste of everything and all the different flavors. We started with the gyoza and calamari which were to die for and were not greasy at all. Pork ssam, wagyu, miso pasta and octopus all brought a little bit of their own element and flare to your palate that it's hard to describe unless you try it. Wagyu was just melt in your mouth delicious. Pork ssam and octopus had their crunchy texture and umami flavors. The miso pasta added a light refreshing touch to balance everything out but don't let it fool ya, the noodles will expand in your stomach. We topped it off with their yuzu cake. Our only disappointment was they were out of their other desserts but nevertheless everyone of us left full and happy. Would come here again.

When I first read about Yozora, I honestly thought it sounded a bit pretentious. Fascinating, but…read morepretentious. Because the idea of music being an actual integral part of the dining experience--not just some kind of background noise--felt a little precious for my taste. I'm glad to admit I was wrong. So let's start with the ambiance and the vibe of Yozora. It's in a fairly non-descript kind of center; not bad but not specially memorable. But the space itself is open and has an air of restrained sophistication. And then there's that hi-fi set up. The music at Yozora really is part of the experience, but it's not intrusive in the way that you'd think. Most of what my dining companion and I heard was 50s and 60s jazz, and it was perfect for the occasion. Sushi and Coltrane are a great mix, and even though we were not far from the hi-fi system, I could hear every word of our conversation, without the need for either of us to raise a voice. Somehow, it's like the music operates on a different frequency from regular table chatter. Suffice to say, the music enhanced the mood and really set a scene for Yozora's chefs to tell some stories. And that, they do really well. We started out with seasonal tempura and miso masu ceviche--ocean trout marinated in miso, soy, and lime juice--that was sublime. But funnily enough, the real star small plate was a truffle creamy miso soup that was earthy and slightly sweet at the same time and was silky in texture. From there, we ordered a series of crudo and battera, each unique in its own way. It was wonderful stuff, accompanied by a rice lager. The kitchen at Yozora is not shy about experimenting with non-traditional flavors and ingredients. Sometimes it works really well; sometimes, not as well, but it's never bad, and the servers actually ask for feedback for the kitchen, which is something I rarely see. Yozora honestly seems to be most concerned with creating a great dining experience, and it does that, from the chefs to the line cooks to the servers (who are helpful and attentive without hovering). The music, the mood, and the menu add up to a memorable experience.
