The worst. Wasted half a day of my holiday. Car wouldn't open. Called support 8 times and waited on hold. Each time the support person would pick up the phone and then just hang up without saying anything. Eventually got through. The agent recommended obvious things (turn on Bluetooth and Location Services and reboot the phone) that were already done. The agent wasn't able to help me get the door open. She ultimately said she would escalate to a technical team who would call me back in a day. Not useful. The car was not discoverable on Bluetooth. There was a flashing light in the windscreen of the car that turned from green to orange as I was standing by the car. I explained this to the agent. She didn't seem to have any idea what this meant. Simply, the system didn't work for me and there was no meaningful support, I have no idea if I will be charged and the whole experience was a waste of time. read more

The reservation/getting the car/car itself/driving all was okay. But be aware you may be renting a car with an empty tank. I had booked a tour at Kualoa Ranch which was about 20 miles away. When I got in the car, the tank was nearly empty and I had to find a gas station on the way put enough gas for the trip AND leave enough gas that would be more than 25 % of the tank. The previous driver left the tank empty, and I had to take my reservation time to do that on the way to my appointment, which I had not taken into consideration. The HUI policy is to charge anyone for inconvenience fee, but why does the company get the money if I'm the one who was inconvenienced? read more

Something fishy. I was concerned about the 3rd party liability insurance provided by HUI. The agreement says it is the primary coverage and the customer agrees not to seek contribution from any other insurance they have. The limits are very low, $20k for injury and $10k for property damage. I was concerned about being liable for much higher amounts and if my personal insurance could be used if for instance I totaled someone's $100,000 sports car while driving Hui's vehicle. I emailed them 3 times. They could not provide an answer to my question. They just repeated what it says in the contract. I called them directly and they still could not answer my question. They said they would have their insurance carrier call me. Nothing yet after a week. So I spoke to my insurance company. They said do not even consider renting from HUI under these conditions. read more

The service is actually very good. Customer service is generally good when you can get them on the phone. The app is not bad when things go smoothly. I would've given them a 5 star review but I don't like their interaction with a customer service rep, Evan was his name. Walking thru Waikiki, some guy gave me a flyer. The flyer said you get a $25 credit signing up and referrer gets one as well. Trouble is, it's misleading. Things don't get automatically credited to your account. I didn't get it so I opened another email account, then another. If you had a similar experience, you should write about it here and share. I left the next day so it wouldn't do me any good anyway. I ended up using Uber. HUI makes you return the vehicle to the same location. Not efficient at all unless you are renting a car for a few hours and going back to where you started. The rental process with Hui was quick and easy. I had no problem reserving a car, finding it, using the free gas card, or getting the car to work. I'm only not giving 5 stars because the car was dirty (especially for a brand new 2021 Corolla), but that was somewhat expected from a ride share car. Also, the car didn't detect my key at times, which caused the car to make annoying noises, but it wasn't a big problem. read more

First time using hui and terrible experience. The car wouldn't unlock. And the first call I made had me go through a number of steps none of which worked. Thereafter I was asked to restart my phone and then when I called I had to wait 20 minutes before being connected to someone. The issue was not solved and when I asked for a ticket number I was not given any. Be careful not to rely on this service as you might end up wasting your time and having to take uber or left anyways. They don't have any fail safe option. Extremely unreliable. Hui DOUBLE BOOKED my car and me and some guy was standing there dealing with this. Upon contacting HUI, they would ONLY TEXT me. I kept calling and calling their number but got their generic customer service that's actually on the mainland. I called three times and had to leave a message with the mainland reps!! They wouldn't even be professional enough to CALL ME back especially considering I rent from them pretty much WEEKLY. The guy standing there with me was becoming agitated and kept asking me "what are they saying, I have to go." Like dude, I HAVE TO GO TO! They double-booked us!! This situation could have really gotten ugly. Literally 30 minutes went by before anything was resolved. HAD THEY CALLED ME, it could have been resolved sooner. This goes to show they could care LESS about loyal drivers ...plus I ended up getting back to work late because of THEIR ERROR!! They gave me a credit of $6.00 FREAKING DOLLARS!!!! You can't even buy a burger for that. Remember HUI - WE ALL REAP WHAT WE SOW! We needed a car for a couple days during our trip to Oahu and it was super easy and convenient. The service is really simple and I love how you can always park it in the same spot so you don't have to worry about parking. We had a Toyota Prius Prime 2020 and it was very clean when we got in. The car is easy to unlock and lock right from your phone and it's just overall an easy system to navigate. I thought that the gas card was a little confusing and I had to put in gas with my own money. However, I was reimbursed within the next few days so it wasn't a huge problem. read more

Not going to lie... the main reason I am giving Hui 5 stars is because in my and my fiance's eyes, they threw the winning touchdown with 1 second left in a tied game. We booked our flights to Oahu on a weekend where tourism was crazy insane and there was a huge concert... there were literally NO cars available at ANY rental car companies. Not even the small sketchy ones in Waikīkī! And to give you an even better picture of the island at the time, there were a couple of rooms left at $1k+ per night. LUCKILY for us, I remembered Hui so we didn't need to Uber everywhere. Aside from coming in clutch, here are the other reasons I loved Hui... 1. They have a huge lot of cars all over the island. There were some near the airport, near Target and all over Honolulu. I saw them even further on the map, but I was only focusing on one area. We ended up catching an Uber to Ala Moana then walking to a car near there (so convenient). 2. They have a range of cars. From Prius' to Tacomas (even Lexus'), they offer all kinds of cars to suit your needs. 3. SO EASY TO USE. You literally just download the app, get verified then reserve your car! Once you get to the car, your phone connects to it via Bluetooth and that's how you lock and unlock your car. It is super convenient, but not gonna lie, it gets kind of old. The car is push to start so no keys required. 4. You don't have to spend money on gas. The car comes with a gas card! You are required to enter the mileage at the time you put gas in the car so dont think you can steal gas for yourself or friends. LOL 5. It comes with insurance! Perfect for people without car insurance. 6. You don't have to wait in line at the rental car company and go through that whole mess of them trying to upsell you insurance and whatnot. It is so nice! You get an hour back of your life. LOL. The cons (that honestly didn't detract from my experience): 1. The price to rent the car is pretty pricey... but when you're in dire need like we were it doesn't matter. We rented a Camry for $119 + tax and that was with a $10 coupon. The Tacoma was $159. 2. You have to make sure your phone has battery and doesn't die, for obvious reasons. The Bluetooth tech does drain your battery if you are using the car a lot (like we were), so I charged it every time we were in the car. 3. The Hui runs on an honor system... so be warned you may not have gas in the car, even though they ask you to keep it at least at a quarter tank. Ours was almost on E, so one of our first stops had to be a gas station. I highly recommend Hui and definitely plan on using it again, just for ease and convenience. Thanks for the service Servco! Not for everyone. It's a high tech solution to car rentals and it requires some getting used to which isn't made easier by the lack of instructions. Good phone support when you need it, and you might need it. But overall I got a great car, in clean condition, at a great price. If you have a smart phone (who doesn't?) and you're reasonably tech savvy, give them a try. Terrible. They make you give them all of your personal info before you can get a quote. Then, when you realize the incredibly low amount of insurance they put on their cars, and the super low amount of liability insurance which offers you almost no protection, you have a super difficult time getting them to delete your stored info. read more

Rented a car through Hui for the first time. What a great idea, process was easy and price was fair. Everything is done via the app. I had to call support only one time and they were quickly there to answer my questions. The car did not have any trash but the person before us left a lot of sand. Did not bother us much but perhaps there could be a was to quickly vacuum vehicle before next renter picks up. I also had Clorox wipes that I used to clean the commonly touched surfaces of the car as it is not cleaned before the next renter. Otherwise it was great to be able to rent a car near our hotel and not worry about paying overnight hotel parking fees since we only rented car for a few hours. read more

Parking around waikiki especially overnight can be super difficult and expensive at husband and I came to find out. We originally rented a car for a few days from turo but returned it early because of the parking headache. We still wanted to do more driving and exploring so my husband found Hui! We gave it a shot and it worked great! We picked up from the international marketplace location. And everything was really simple, the approval process on the app, pick up, free gas refueling, parking, etc. it was super convenient to have the car key activated on my phone through my Hui app. The car we used rode great, and was super clean! The rate is really reasonable especially factoring in not having to pay overnight parking in a garage (which we paid $50 for one night with our turo rental), wnd the free gas! Overall it was a super seamless process and I would highly recommend it for anyone staying in Waikiki wanting to use a car to explore more of Oahu and not stress about parking! read more

Five minutes before my reservation was about to begin, Hui calls me to tell me that the car I reserved was no longer available even though I was already at the location. They still charged me for that reservation. Their app is currently not working and I am unable to cancel my upcoming reservations. I have reached out to customer service but no response. First you have to set up an account and get verified. You have to give your info like driver's license number, picture of drivers license and picture of yourself holding your driver's license. It's so they know it's you renting the car and not somebody else. Verification took me half a day. Use the Hui app on your phone to locate and select Hui cars to rent. You must select when you will rent the car and when you will return it. There will be a price quote to show you how much it will cost to rent the car for your selected time. Price includes insurance and gas. Use the gas card in the middle console to purchase gas for the car. Your cellphone is your key for the vehicle. Make sure to turn on your Bluetooth and it will sync with the vehicle when you are near it. Use it to unlock/lock the doors. Check for damages in and out of the car before. Note down any damages in the app before driving the vehicle. I made a reservation for a Camry at Ala Moana near Shirokiya. However, when I got there, the Camry wasn't there. I got a call from a Hui rep and she told me the car is by Ala Moana hotel instead. She also texted me a pic of where the location is. When I got there another Hui rep was there (Julie?) and she apologized for the mix up. They had to change locations of some of the Hui vehicles so that's why my Camry wasn't at the Shirokiya location. They also didn't have time to clean the inside of the Camry because of this. I asked her if I could extend the rental duration for 30 minutes since it took an additional 30 minutes to get the car after the change of pick up location. Not only didn't they honor my request, they also compensated me for the mix up!! Julie said Hui didn't want me to have a negative experience. All I can say is that their customer service is outstanding!! All their cars are fairly new Toyota's (2018-2020) and affordable. Perfect if you need the car for a few hours or have family visiting and you need a van (Sienna) to take them around for the day. The only negative is that you have to return the vehicle at the same location you picked it up. I had to return the Camry on Mahukona street and parallel park it. Do you know how difficult it is the parallel park along Ala Moana during rush hour? Lol. All in all Hui is a great program. I will definitely use it again. You should give it a try too! read more

Always had good experiences with Hui whenever I needed to use a car for a day before. It was always very convenient for those of us on the island who don't own a car, but might need a car on occasion for errands and such. But now it's completely booked, seemingly by tourists, so unless you plan your errands a month in advance, you're out of luck. This is very inconvenient for locals who have been customers from the beginning. Really a bummer. read more

First off they say you can dock the car at any docking station but when we went to a different docking station then where we originally got the car from it wouldn't accept the car. Come to find out the customer service rep said that's not a feature yet then why do you put it up on your website then??? I find great convenience and value in HUI Car Share, which I use on a weekly basis at minimum. Booking a vehicle is a breeze, and there is a selection of vehicles from which to choose based on budget and need. I also switched to HUI Car Share from ride share options like Lyft and Uber, because it is much cheaper, and I appreciate being more in control of my trip.
