Love love huhot. Live in Portland now and there is not one here but a slightly more expensive similar chain called Changs. Huhot is so much better and has better sauces. The rewards program is great! I admittedly dont eat much portion-wise so it's not always a good deal for me, but the hubby does a pretty good job making up the difference. I like to just get 2 bowls to go so I can make 2 meals out of it instead of 1 and leftovers are just as good. Anyway, when I'm somewhere there is a huhot now, I definitely go. Only thing is, around the dinner rush lines can get quite long at the grill at this location. Oh, but the crab rangoon is terrible and the cheesecake is good. I cant fault them for one bad menu item; I just skip it because you pay extra for it anyway. read more

It's Mongolian BBQ, so, really, if you don't like your food you have no-one but yourself to blame. Me, I love Mongolian BBQ, and I love it every time I have it. I went in a party of 3 on a Saturday night and had a good experience despite the long line (it moves pretty quickly). The guys at the grill were loquacious and friendly, joking and singing with each other and with the clients; it really made a positive out of what could be the most tedious part of the visit (the waiting in line). I didn't love the staff (servers/bussers) in the seating area. Most of them did not seem to give much attention to their appearance, coming across as sloppy at best, if not outright dirty. Ours in particular was hard to find the two or three times we needed her. Of course, the focus of Mongolian BBQ is on the grill and not the dining area, and what I got from the grill I was happy with. read more

We've been making occasional treks up to HuHot for a long time. The format is one of the better-executed "mongo" restaurants. Food freshness is generally very good (an occasional problem at other mongo restaurants). I'd have given it four stars except for two things: 1) We had visited maybe two years ago and I had asked to be seated near an outlet, because I was on-call and had a little problem that I needed to address. The laptop's power-hungry and only good for maybe 45 minutes. I was told that they "didn't do that" and the hostess proceeded to walk us by two different tables that had outlets by them before seating us at one that didn't. So rather than leisurely poking at a broken server while eating, I was instead having to obsess about the possibility my battery would run out, and so I ended up not eating. We didn't return for at least a year after that. Stupid not to accommodate a patron. 2) On our most recent visit, it was pretty much a disaster. The food bar was a mess, and despite having someone up there pretty much continuously filling things, they were running out of staples such as broccoli (empty over 5 minutes), the sauce stand was a mess, and several times the grill was so backed up that a line formed behind the sauce stand, along the refrigerators, and all the way back along the wall separating the food bar from the restaurant. At one point the line was longer than the wall. I was watching what was going on at the grill and it didn't seem to be any deficiency on the part of the workers, at least five of whom were working non-stop in an impressive display of coping with the situation. They appear to suffer from (not-so) little "rushes" where a huge line develops for a bit and then gets manageable. Unfortunately, the design of the facility adds confusion to this, because as that grill line shortens, the people who have just finished at the sauce stand will tend to look around and not really "get" that the dozen people standing behind them are actually a line for the grill, so they just stand where they are waiting for the grill too, and basically as things move forward, they effectively cut into line ahead of the people that have been waiting 5-10 minutes because there's no separation between the grill queue and the sauce stand. Overall, a good mongo stir-fry joint though. read more

HuHot Mongolian Grill - Mongolian Near Me - Appleton, Wisconsin

Place was great I loved huhot but after coming here makes me want to come back great service

I go there once in awhile and always remember why I don't go more often: the food quality is often lacking. Don't get me wrong the service is usually good and the atmosphere is great but the ingredients tend to look a day or so past their prime. There are better Mongolian BBQ grills out there. Overall: overrated but worth it if stir fry is your thing. read more

Read my tip for carry outs!

This is a good Mongolian grill but not my favorite. The food is cooked properly and the staff is very friendly.

This was only the second time I have been to HuHot because I typically cannot do buffets justice. (Maybe because we are not meant to?) You have plenty of options; from meat to veggies to sauce. The food is quite tasty and slightly above predictable. However, I can cram two plates in and call myself in a food coma. There are no flavors that I have never experienced before. However, it is a solid buffet and that is what we were there for. Go for the lunch special so if you are unable to eat your weight in food, at least you did not pay an arm and a leg for it. read more

Calleigh was a relatively new server. Pretty nice. Asked for a refill and she promptly brought it.

Great food and good atmosphere make this restaurant very popular! Be prepared to wait in a long line during the peak times to get your food cooked. read more

Love that it's all you can eat, the guys at the grill did a great job cooking it. It's super good and have a great selection of options to put into your stir fry! I packed on the peanut and teriyaki sauce and have no complaints. I suggest going on a week night (I went on a Wednesday at 5) if you're worried about proper service, because mine was just fine! Seated with no wait and got to ask for a booth too. Will be going back. Super affordable too. $13 for all you can eat, plus rice, and a soup or salad. Only complaint was the egg drop soup sucked. Other than that everything was perfect and still deserves 5 stars. read more

One of the best huhots I've been too. Friendly staff, very welcoming. Last time I was there my server brooke was very helpful and very pleasant. Would recommend. read more

The line can be very unnerving, but it's worth the wait. I have Celiac Disease and the cooks, no matter how busy, always accommdate me without a huff or complaint. Very loud, fun, and entertaining atmosphere, so if you're looking for a quite date night, this is probably not the place. Their allergy menu is very thorough and most of the staff I have encountered are very knowledgeable about allergies, which more than we can say for most restaurants. Our servers are usually so-so, but the cooks upbeat attitude and the roaming managers are very friendly. We went one time later in the evening not sure of their hours, and the front doors were still open, there were two customers in the bar, and a manager that greeted us, wasn't expecting guests. She had her uniform shirt off with just her undershirt and work pants. She proceeded to put her shirt back on and apologized that they were closed. We should have called, that was on our part, but the lack of professionalism on her part was not what we expected. If your doors are still open, expect people to walk through them, and if you're at work, dress that way until you clock out. read more

Not good. I've been to these types of places with MUCH better food. The meat choices were ok, but some of it seemed like fake meat. Maybe I'm spoiled by the local place near my house and we tried this while traveling but I was So disappointed. The grill had food stuck to the side of the insides of the center that are visible to the guests. It's quite unappetizing. I took pictures but it seriously looks like someone vomited because they spray the grill with water to clean it. The sauces are watered down and I was VERY unimpressed. I will not go to another HuHot ever again. read more

Having found a Mongolian Grill near my hotel while traveling, I was excited to eat there for dinner as I do not have one near my home location. This location was very busy but I only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. The server was very friendly and attentive. The wait to get my food cooked was way too long. Food quality was pretty good but the wait ruined the experience for me. read more

This is probably my favorite restaurant in the town. Mongolian grill is all together a different experience. You can eat variety of meat, veggies and awesome varieties of sauses from sweet and sour to hot n spicy. Cost wise it's good as well. Love this place. It gets pretty busy on Friday and weekend afternoons. read more

Finally a restaurant that will cater to allergies. This place rocks! And the food is good too. Will be back.

I have taken groups of student staff members to Hu Hot 3 times in the past year and everytime it's been a major success! I love the selection of sauces and mix-ins and don't think you can go wrong with the unlimited bowls worth of Hu Hotty goodness! It sucks when the lines are long to the grill, but if you're smart and don't go at the peak times for meals you cruise right on up! I love watching the grill guys do tricks! read more

This restaurant is amazing! I build 2 bowls at a time with everything I want. It's really fun to watch the grill masters cook it. I haven't found a time or day that they're not busy. That's a good thing! Tell tale sign that the food is delicious! I try to go at least once a week. You definitely get your money's worth. YUMMY! read more

HuHot could use some process flow improvement, but fun eats once you get through the serpentine sauce line. Could use a Mongolian warrior type to direct traffic. Kids would like it. read more

Good food, good atmosphere. Fast. If you love spicey, you can make it as hot as you like.

People really love the place, but it just seemed kind of sloppy and in all honesty - the whole experience just kind of bummed me out. I'll preface the review by saying the food was completely fine. One of the dishes I created tasted good, and one didn't. But, the fact remains, this is buffet-style, and buffets undoubtedly bring out "buffet people". Buffets lead to bad decisions, overindulgence, vaguely gross food intermingling, and piled, dirty dishes as far as the eye can see. As we ate our salad and awkwardly mixed fish, noodle, beef, pork, sauce, vegetable combination, I couldn't shake the general sense that at some point in the recent past, there had been some sort of violent corn or vegetable explosion in the dining room. And worse, as patrons clamored to get tables and fill bowl after endless bowl of foodstuff, it seemed my wife and I were the only ones that cared... Our waitress was nice, the food and prices acceptable, but this is one suburban strip mall joyride we shan't be taking again. read more

There's nothing particularly wrong with this place. You make your own combo and they cook it for you. The cooks are working as though you're not standing two feet away. More annoying than a problem. read more

I visit here with my family. My son loved it and we were there for him. I prefer someone serving me

this place is fun and busy, love the ambiance on a friday night. i can easily say the food is good and good enough to return, but with all those diff flavors you would think you could get more out of it. also, you only get small bowls which you cant fit anything in, this bothers me and everyone i go with says the same. you can carry two bowls but once you fill them up with food and sauces it can become a task to maneuver two of them w/o spilling some. get bigger bowls, please!!! read more

A fairly priced Mongolian grill. The sauce and ingredient selection is excellent and the chefs move food quickly.

Who doesn't love all you can eat awesomeness??? Be sure to load up on the meat, veggies, and sauce. Take about 4 or 5 noodles (literally). When cooking, the meat shrinks and the noodles expand. read more

Delicious. It is a bit unsettling that you place raw meat in the same place you put your pasta/vegetables.

Great place! You can make your lunch or dinner any way you like it. Nice atmosphere with funky lighting and wall paintings. Good lunch prices (still all you can eat)- go early or late though, because it gets very, very busy. Be sure to get a VIP card- you get a free meal after buying so many. read more

Good place! After having been there more than 10 times, it feels like there's not much selection, but that's probably because I'm not a cook and don't do very well when I choose the meat and vegetables to put in my food. It's very nice and warm though, with LOTS of drink selections. read more

Great food in a funky atmosphere. This is the best Mongolian Grill in Appleton. It's no Mongo's but it is still very good.

We will never go to a Chinese buffet again after experiencing this beautiful place. Great service and great food. The atmosphere is also beautiful!!! Can't wait to take our kids next time! read more

One of my favorite resturants. Most of the staff is friendly, and it's usually kept clean. I drive all the way from fond du lac to come here, and am never disappointed. read more

Ive eaten at several of these Restaurants. This was my 2nd visit to this one. I can honestly say i will never eat at one of these restaurants again. This partially because I'm not a buffet person but the overall cleanliness of this place is disgusting. Greasy floors, dirty buffet area etc. Just not for me. read more

My husband loves this place, me , not so much .. that being said , I took him there for his birthday "dinner date " . It was a Saturday night about 8-8:30, well before closing time . We got to the hostess and told her table for two . We specifically asked her if we could have a table , her response " I'll see what I can do " WHAT ? Wtf ? Plenty of places to sit , so I wasn't quite sure if she was serious or not . She was . After a couple minutes , she leads us to ..... what else .. a booth !! Not just a booth , but it was a dirty one , while the table opposite it was empty and clean!?!?!? I said , " can't we sit here at this table ?" She retorts, " oh yea , sure " . Incredibly stupid . I managed a restaurant for 15 years and I have been in retail for over 20 years . This is NOT how you get return business ! Thankfully we had a great waitress who worked her ass off waiting on the whole section . Although my husband will probably go back , I however will have to decline read more

A wonderful place for all-you-can-eat. I enjoy the fun of the restaurant. I usually visit with my teenager. She uses 2 bowls to keep the meat separate from the veggies. The freshness and cleanliness is always a priority on the line and on the grill. During the rush, they have difficulties having enough people cleaning. The customers are sloppy. They are too busy refilling. Don't wear your good shoes since overfilling the bowls with sauces is common and it slops onto the floor. Any issue that I had and informed them about has been cleared up in a speedy manner. They even send discount coupons to you for your comments, good and bad. read more

My friend and I decided to take her child who has autism to this place for his birthday he is a very picky eater and also is at times hard to understand. Right off the bat the hostess heard him say something and got down on his level and asked what he said to her we explained he has a hard time forming words and she didn't bat an eye and responded to him and lead us to our table. Our waitress (Samantha) was amazing waiting on us she grabbed some chop stick cheaters for him. My friend has never used chop sticks so tried them out and thought they were pretty neat. Right away her son wanted to try. Thanks to him being extremely interested in the chop sticks he went up for seconds and even THIRDS. Knowing what an awesome accomplishment this was for him I asked if we could keep the little cheater tool and explained the situation she immediately said she could give me a few more and brought some back for him so my friend could try out at home if he would continue to eat better with the chop sticks. She said she also has a picky eater so completely understands that as a mom you have to try everything. We appreciated how thoughtful and understanding she was and she made us laugh so many times!! I highly recommend this place to anyone with a upbeat child or child with disabilities they are truly amazing wait staff! read more
