BEWARE!! $90 + non-optional "25% + TIP" with 2-way lock (PRISON)...will hold you hostage if you don't generously "OPTIONALLY TIP" !! (I was offered a happy ending, but declined.) This is what I would call a "middle-of-the-road" place, pretends to be a spa but is somewhere between a $60 NYC massage parlor and outright rub-and-tug swindle joint. There is no "$90 tip included" massage (whomever planted that review is either female, or one of the staff/friend of the place). Expect to pay $90 plus be extorted for a generous "tip" that is NOT optional. They intentionally have a 2-way lock installed on the door that is controlled from the 2nd floor, so they can literally LOCK YOU INSIDE if you refuse to leave a "generous tip" (OVER 20%). They have a sign saying "suggested 20% tip" which is a JOKE. For a $90 massage, I asked to tip $15 and the woman basically refused to give me change, then rudely took a phone call while talking LOUDLY in (Thai/Chinese?), clearly saying "Eff You". I demanded change and was lucky to be let out of this prison. While the massage itself was good, I will not tolerate being HUSTLED and SCAMMED by basically sex workers who pretend to be a normal / semi-upscale massage/spa, and then hold you ransom if you don't PAY UP. [There is a word for this type of scam in Japan... These people are definitely not Japanese, but it's right up there with that level of shadiness.] Nice, relaxing massage RUINED by the scammer sex-worker "pay more or else we'll lock you inside and talk rudely on the phone while ignoring you while you ask for change" vibe. Generally, a run down "spa" that is just sex workers in disguise. BTW, get a new plumber, because your sad excuse for "tile work" where your lame "handy-man" basically slapped a bunch of grout and glue all over the wall all around the faucets while replacing your failed plumbing -- essentially ruining what was once a nice original tile job from the early 2000's -- is outright ghetto. At least for way you're hustling customers, it's reassuring to know you got scammed by a sad wanna-be plumber (probably your family member), who doesn't know WTF they're doing and destroyed your entire 400sf "sauna" tile shower with shoddy, horrid looking workmanship that looks like it was done by a 4th grader. read more

I went to get a massage and i could never relax. Technique was really bad and didn't let me enjoy anything it was hard, even though I asked for low pressure. When leaving the woman ask me for tip I was going to the tip 18 dollars (20%) for respect and she was like oh no you should tip more. We absolutely loved it the sauna was amazing the massage was so relaxing and my lady did amazing at pressure points on my body and the lady that did my boyfriend even stepped on his back. Went Sunday for a relaxing evening with my boy friend for a couples massage . I'm a massage therapist in NJ who works mainly in Hoboken. I've been a massage therapist for 7 years. Just wanted to change the scene and give Hudson Spa a chance . Will start with a positive . Spa was very clean and organized . Sauna had to be my favorite part . Onto the negatives . Beginning with our appointment , my bf and I were sent to the room. Without meeting our therapist to speak about our main concerns. Which in first time client we should consult with our client to discuss any surgical procedures, injuries and pain in areas that want to be worked on. It had to be about 20 mins that I was getting compressions with the sheet on. I usually only do 3-5 min to warm up the body before adding pressure . That's taking away a decent amount of time that could've been worked on trigger points . Then there was so much noise. Between them talking to each other throughout and then phone call in the massage room and my therapist answering and taking down an appointment while working on me. I wanted to speak to a manager but it seemed that they didn't quite understand me . Please don't visit this place if you're actually in pain and in need of a good healing therapist who will work with your needs. Your massage shouldn't be rushed and should be properly treated. First time massage at this quiet and private spa. Very polite staff. Very clean and complete facility which included showers and sauna. My attendant gave me an incredible body scrub that saw quite a bit of dry skin removed. After a good rinsing we moved into a private massage room. This woman had the softest hands but incredibly strong. Every knot or point of tension in my muscles throughout my entire body was kneaded with her hands, elbows and feet at times. Finding male technicians seems to be rare in the northern New Jersey area but finding this talented lady is sure to bring me back as often as I can find the time. read more

I drove 30 mins to this place, second time visiting. Massage was great but when I was about to pay the lady in the front desk told me how much I had to leave.. I told her I understand the percentage but you can't tell me how much I have to leave because it's up to the customer. She said she was explaining it to me and that she'll charge 15% to 20% on my card.. I asked if the person that took cared of me was still working because I wanted to tip her cash and it would be more than 20% but I did not feel comfortable with the lady charging me. The worst massage I've ever gotten took place here. The place is clean and pretty nice overall but that's where it ends. The massage was just straight-up bizarre - a lot of places start with massaging you through a sheet so I didn't think anything of it in the beginning. But the "sheet massage" continued...and continued...and continued... In fact, most of the massage was performed through the said sheet. And no, there was nothing to justify not touching me without the sheet - I did take a shower before I went to the spa as well as AT the spa since they send you straight to the showers as you walk in. ;) It was baffling. As I was raised to be polite and tip even when something sucks (though I probably shouldn't), I asked the front desk lady (who also looks like she runs the place) for change for a $20 so I could tip 20%. She asked me THREE times if I didn't want to just give the massage therapist the $20. I insisted on getting the change back at this point since my sheet massage was bad enough (there are limitations to my politeness) and she seemed annoyed. Returned a year later for another massage as I was in the area and I also wanted to get my niece one for completing her first year as an undergrad! Well...it was awful. The first 10 minutes started out fine enough. They DO NOT use oil/lotion anymore. It was strictly over the sheet. After about 10 minutes the lady at the front desk came in and loudly spoke to both ladies while we were getting our massages. Then my nieces therapist leaves the room. For FIVE MINUTES....I had to ask my therapist to go get here. So then I'm also left without a therapist. Needless to say when they both came back, they continued to speak the entire time. I mean THE ENTIRE TIME they spoke, laughed...it was insanity. When I asked if I could just have a moment to meditate they ignored me and kept chatting. Last but not least, they end the massage by finally pulling down your sheet and lathering thick oil all over your back...they do not rub, they literally just brush it all over your back. then they put a hot towel on to wipe it off and they are done. Somehow, what was supposed to be 60 minute massages each ....turned out to be 48minutes each and somehow we both ended at the same time...(So my niece got about 43 minutes). I too left with a horrible shoulder pain that I had to have resolved at another spa the following day. Needless to say, I won't be returning. read more

Modern beautiful interior, the pictures are real! The staff was very nice, lacking some English language skills but non the less courteous. The deep tissue massage I got was wonderful, not the best I've ever had but it was unique, relaxing, stress relieving, and pain reducing. I thought it was kinda weird they left the room door open while getting massaged but was closed when I requested and the music didn't stay on consistently. I couldn't get over the amount of space this location has! I think this would be ideal for a bachelorette party or bridal party day-of-wedding festivities. They are equipped with flat screen TVs, massage chairs, lockers, saunas, showers, and a hot floor room! I started my spa experience with a sauna followed by a shower, then ended with a rest on the hot floors which is excellent to have your massage set and for your back. Great experience! read more

Just finished getting a full body scrub/ massage. It was simply amazing. It was exactly what I needed, First, your told to go to the sauna for roughly 10 minutes and once your called, they give you a body scrub to thoroughly clean every inch of your body. Then, the full body massage begins; you're given an option for either light, medium, or strong strength. Once that's all done, you feel revitalised and energized. Their prices are decent, especially for the amazing experience that is much more valuable than the price. *as a side note: they do not bother you about the tip, if you give a decent amount. read more

EXCELLENT!! Very relaxing and refreshing experience. Everyone was very very nice and did a great job. I went in for a Message and was treated like royalty. The Dry and Steam sauna were complementary and was the ideal start to the relaxing journey. Loosened up the muscles perfectly for the amazing message that I was given. Very thorough, very detailed and very experienced masseuse. She worked out my shoulders and neck perfectly; applying the exact right amount of pressure to work out the stress! Lovely experience--- the hot huts were super cute. My friend and I were in the area visiting and were looking for a place to warm up and relax. The whole place is very dark and zen like. So we signed up for a 1 hour massage. We were pleasantly surprised that it included access to the rest of the spa. We started for 20-30 minutes in the dry sauna. They give you bottles of water, towels, robe, and slippers. Then they give you soaps to shower off and move into a medium heat hot hut to dry off. The massage is a typical Thai massage. I got oils with mine; my friend did not. Once done they put you in another hot hut to lay down and relax your muscles. It's not the kind of quick in and out spa. They seem to encourage taking the time to relax and such. I would recommend just a little more lighting. Over all clean and happy with services. Would go back for a scrub if I had more time. read more

I booked a couples scrub-massage. For the most part it was good, clean, private and respectful. The only problem was the scrub, they don't use oils or soap, so it's too abrazive. I complaint and I was been taken care of, but my partner wasn't. He complained that it did hurt three times, none of which they were aknowledge, they scrape the skin over the moles till it bled. The doctor says thar's dangerous since it could trigger a melanoma. I am a paying customer, I tip well, I wan't to have a relaxing experience, not suffering treatment. Same thing always happen to me with this place, I would pay and tip and the owner would hassle you for more tip, if you don't add to the tip to her satisfaction, she would have an ugly remarks... So I went for a scrub yesterday, I make sure I made change with exact payment and tip from a grocery store before I got there. (The lady / owner always push you to give more tips) at the end, I gave a 15% tip, she pushed for more (I expected it cause she does it all the time). So I asked her how many % is proper for tip, she said, "15, 20, more, more, you give more alway, good scrub, you like right?" So I said to her, "that's 15% tip in your hand". To round it all up, The Lady called me, "CHEAP" in Chinese thinking I won't understand. I was like, "Wat", did you just called me cheap? She said, "you give more before, you give more" ... To cut the long story short, I said my good night without adding to the tip that I already gave. Good scrub and massage but I have had better. I would advice you to get your cash ready when going. Absolute worst massage and body scrub EVER!! Despite the relaxing atmosphere the massage was done without oil or lotion nor was the body scrub done with soap or an exfoliate. Went for a couples massage and both left with body pain and terrible back pain. Not to mention the lady insisting the tip wasn't enough. Worst 230 dollars ever spent. I set an appointment up just to make sure I did not have a problem. I rang the doorbell and as I'm coming upstairs there was a lady there making sure that I was trying to get into the spa and not somewhere else. She was quite nice and asked me if it was my first time which I responded yes to because it was. I was drawn back because this entrance is nice, I mean really nice for Bergenline standards and very spacious. I was then brought to the changing room. Another lady brought me in and then provided me with a robe, towel and slippers to get into. I waited and then she rudely brings me into the sauna like if I'm taking too long however, how would I know where the sauna is it is my first time there. The sauna was inside the scrub room so it was convenient. After maybe 10 minutes she comes and proceeds with the body scrub. What a scrub, she literally scrubbed every single portion of my body and was thorough. I did not feel as though she was using a good scrub since you did not feel any granular anything so that was odd but nevertheless, her service was excellent. They should have a shower head or something to wash off but she uses the old pot and bucket, which was fine. After the amazing scrub she proceeds to the massage. This is where I was very unhappy. One, no option of what type of massage only light medium or strong. She did not ask if I would like for her to work in a certain area more than another or if it hurt anywhere. During the massage she did not ask me if I was ok whatsoever during anytime - definitely not a typical massage anywhere (I'm a world traveler and this is nowhere near a Thai massage or Chinese massage or any Asian massage by any means). I left with a huge pain on my right shoulder which I will go to another massage place tonight to alleviate because the pain is just horrible! There was no water provided before, during or after the massage and I was DYING of thirst. All she did was apply pressure to my pressure points, no rubbing or massaging for that matter. Above it all, there was no oil or lotion used - I have never experienced something like this. When I finished I proceeded to the sauna hut which was so cute......I did lay there for quite some time since I was in pain after that awful massage. I was stretching and massaging myself because I was in bad pain after that horrific massage. During checkout I provided my gift certificate and gave a $25 tip just to not even experience what others wrote and because the scrub was good and she did a very good job. Even with a $25 tip she was looking at me like I was a little odd but either way, I have no intention on ever returning so it was fine with me. This is definitely a cute spa with some amazing space which was well worth it but I would never go back. If they applied attention to the little things (customer service proper etiquette) perhaps give a tour and don't make me feel like I'm stupid for not knowing where to go or rushed during my services they would get better feedback and consistent clients. read more

This was the worst massage I have ever had. I brought my daughter with me so we can do it together and even though the lady gave us a towel and slippers to take a shower in the beginning afterwards the massage was horrible and painful. No oils used and I had to tell the lady 3x she was hurting me. She would just laugh very rude! I've had massages before and never one like this nightmare. My shoulders hurt and my daughter has body aches as well. They also leave the door open while massaging and the therapist would leave to get things with my body bare naked without the sheet on. To top it off the lady at the desk exceeds you to give more than 15% tip. Will never ever go back! read more
