Light Rail is a nice augmentation of the path and train Services of New Jersey Transit. I do wish it was connected on the monthly pass for another service, it remains completely separate though. You can get as far down as Bayonne and as far up as Port Imperial, with Hoboken in Jersey City in the middle. You buy a ticket and then have it stamped at the station which leaves you some time for rides for the next hour or two. Seating is ok, like the hard felt of a bus seat.

Hudson-Bergen Light Rail is a tram system around New Jersey - it carries on from the PATH, meaning you can get off at Exchange Place, Hoboken and Newport (probably more too) and continue your journey with here. Journeys again are a set price no matter how far along the line you go which for me is pretty stupid and unfair if you're only travelling one-stop but at $2.25, its still 50 cents cheaper than PATH / MTA travel in NYC. The trams didn't seem too nice or modern and I do feel they lacked room, I'd hate to experience one at rush hour! The routes also should have been clearer laid out as if it wasn't for a combination of CityMapper and asking a fellow passenger, I wouldn't have known which stand to wait on for a tram, let alone which one to get from that stand! Most stations are accessible which is a bonus as it serves one of the few ways to get between the stations, usually served by PATH with their long ongoing renovation which is temporarily using lifts, so it serves a more reliable and frequent service to replace the Shuttle and if you are affected you can use your MTA ticket for no extra charge (even though it does take longer and is more inconvenient) The UK - Manchester and London in particular and most of Europe (Amsterdam, Stockholm and co) really does trams so much better, by comparison this is a mediocre disappointment with the only extra star being as its an alternative to the dire PATH when travelling within NJ 2*

Jersey!! I'm in Jersey crossing two rivers in another state where it is less densely populated. Hudson-Bergen Light Rail transports me from the NJ PATH system to my destination at a moderate price for Zone 1 at $2.10 one way, which is far lesser than New York's MTA subways and buses. Self-serve ticket machines are fully functional and very instructive to follow with a separate machine to validate one way tickets with a date/time stamp. Service is prompt and trains are functioning. A three car train that enables my travels further to see Jersey in a new light. The screeching sound of Hudson-Bergen Light Rail's trains do not resonate an ear deafening noise as New York's MTA subways.

A bargain at $2.10 each way, the light rail runs just over 20 miles from start to finish with a total of 24 stations that are perhaps a little close together, but that's just me. The trains are surprisingly clean and comfortable, perhaps because food and drink are not permitted. And the next station announcements are amazingly clear and totally understandable. I caught a train this week from Pavonia (behind the Newport Center Mall near Newport PATH station) down to Liberty State Park. A good ride. You do need to purchase a ticket before boarding and validate it. And then hang on to it. I didn't see a ticket inspector, but I'm sure that they have them.

I use the Richard Street Light Rail station, the pro are it gets me to the Lower East side of Manhattan in 40 min, which is great. The cons, i am not a fan of the Bayonne flyer I think its pure political and a bit racist. I never take the Rail on the weekends I rather drive. The weekend service is pretty bad, not frequent, and the train is way too small. I usually by the monthly pass because who has time for stamping tickets? Not me.

transit officers suck, the light rail should be free, it's never on time, half the doors don't open, the list goes on and on

Great concept, hit-or-miss execution…read more Let's start with the good: it's free. The Downtown Connection has been serving the community for over 20 years, and it remains NYC's only free circulator bus. It's a good resource for connecting Lower Manhattan and Battery Park City. The buses run daily from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., each bus seats about 22 people, and they're easy to spot thanks to that bright red branding. There is, however, room for improvement. They claim to have an updated tracking system with real-time maps and apps for iPhone/Android, but in my experience, the tech doesn't always match reality. The biggest frustration? I've had drivers cruise right past me while I was standing at a designated stop. I'm not sure if they're just trying to stay on schedule, but it defeats the purpose of a commuter service. Bottom line: If you can actually catch one and the driver is willing to stop, you certainly get your money's worth. Just don't count on the GPS being 100% accurate.

It is free and the people I interacted with are nice. One…read moreof the employees was nice enough to hand a brochure to me with the routes, and was disappointed when he found out that I didn't regularly visit the city. It was habit for me to accept the brochure out of politeness, in case I might change my mind about visiting, and the idea that it is easier for me to read a piece of paper sometimes than trying to navigate a phone browser or phone app where something might not sync up because of bad connection or bad programming. Usually, it's the bad programming that gets me more than anything. At the same time, something is better than nothing at all though, right? I am thankful to save a few steps along my route.

I mostly go to the front of the platform the J going to Jamaica since the front of the platform is much more bearable. The end of the platform got a lot of smokers. J trains take forever to come compared to the 4 and 5 trains, which come like every second. Sucks that the J trains take forever. Got so much anxiety and impatience waiting in this train station. Also sometimes the train is packed when the previous station is Broad Street, the last stop on the J train. So why is the J train packed with no seats at Fulton?!?

We picked up OurBus right across from the Javits Center, in the middle of the street…read more The storage bins were labeled, one for Baltimore, the other for DC. He scanned our ticket and we boarded. The bus was pretty full, so we ended up sitting separately. The above head storage bins are kind of tight, so I had to take something out of my over stuffed backpack to manage to wiggle it in. While my purse sat on my lap. I liked the foot rest and the hook on the handle on the seat in front of me. Trash bags were hung here and there. Looks like they also provided small bottles of water for us, though we had to grab those ourselves. The electric plugs didn't seem to work, but perhaps the ubs plugs in the ceiling did. Our driver was a great communicator. He set expectations so we knew that we had a 20 min rest stop before arriving at Baltimore, and pointed out things to help us to pay attention and to get back to the right bus. He warned us that given current construction that we were sure to arrive later than what our tickets said, and gave us his best eta given the circumstances. Another passenger later commented that the bus bathroom was clean. We kind of ended up being dropped off on a brightly painted bridge in the middle of no where - perhaps on Maryland Ave?, by a bus stop. A short walk from Penn Station.

Very disappointing experience…read more My family arrived at the Worcester, MA bus stop at 7:35 PM for a scheduled departure. We waited continuously until 8:10 PM, and the bus never arrived. When we contacted customer service, we were told the bus had already left at 7:47 PM, which is simply not consistent with what we experienced. Instead of investigating the situation or showing any empathy, customer service insisted the bus had departed and refused to offer a refund or any meaningful resolution. It's extremely frustrating to be told we missed a bus that never appeared while we were waiting at the designated pickup location. Reliable service and responsive customer support are essential for travelers. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this service and hope the company improves both its bus tracking and customer service processes.
