I really don't mind the G train in the way that some other people do. I live off the Bedford/Nostrand stop and don't really wanna move away from the G. Of course, I have the option of walking a few more blocks and taking the A/C, which is really nbd, but I mostly use the G. Like my love for shittastic LaGuardia Airport - trusty in its untrustworthiness - I think I like the G because not unlike a virgin, the G will come eventually no matter what - and when it does you always (well, almost always) know where its going. For a while, Carroll Street was closed, but I took it from there last night and it was just fine. And besides, from the G you can connect to the F, which takes you to Coney Island/Brighton Beach, aka my favourite place in New York. I have worn a vikiing helmet on the G at 2am. I have ridden the G train of shame at 7am on a Saturday morning. I have been late picking my mom up at Grand Central because of the G. Many an Occupy protest started with a trip on the G train. When I first moved here, my cousin took me halfway to Queens before realizing we got on on the wrong side of the G train track. I wouldn't change the G train for the world.

Read below, a lot but details explain their failure and bad business practices. On Tuesday May 23rd, 2023, Best Trails and Travels located on 5 Sigourney Street Brooklyn NY 11231 sent a charter confirmation to the Southern Queens Park Association [SQPA] for a 56 Passenger Coach Bus for date of service starting 5/25/2023 at 6:15am and ending 5/25/23: drop off time at 4:00pm. Driver Shabazz was noted as the bus operator of the passenger coach that day. Sales Representative Nadia booked Charter #91638 with Dispatch #185149. As it is procedure, SQPA inform Best Trails we are a 501©(3), and that payments can only be made through check or ACH Payment. Best Trail and Travel notified us that they would only be taking certified checks and that ACH Payment would be the best option for them. The fiscal department at SQPA was then notified to process the payment. Once the payment was processed, Best Trails and Travel was then notified by director of community schools Herman Turner. Best Trails and Travels then verbally confirmed that they will be there on Thursday Morning for the students, for pick up, and the final drop off at I.S 008 108-35 167th Street Jamaica NY 11433. On Thursday May 25th 2023, at approximately 6:15am, our students were picked up from: I.S 008 108-35 167th Street Jamaica NY 11433. They were dropped off to: Honors Haven located at 1195 Arrowhead Road NY 12428. At approximately 11:30am, we SQPA was notified that Best Trails and Travels would no longer be taking our children back to the final drop off location due to lack of payment. The Fiscal Department at SQPA was then notified about the situation. The fiscal department then sent proof of ACH Payment for the Charter Company. Best Trails and Travels then transferred us to yet another sales representative named Pru, that also stated they will not be bringing the children back on the charter with the Driver Shabazz. Operations Manager Robert Shields, who was notified of the situation confirmed that our students will be stranded and that their driver was leaving them at Honor Haven. Showing no interest in the wellness and safety of the students, Mr. Shields demanded that we pay using a credit or debit card most promptly. Shields' repeatedly stating that our children would be left indefinitely, mentioned that the SQPA was in contract and that we should have had the payment sent over at an earlier date. Shields then demanded once more that we make a payment by credit or debit card immediately with threatening tones. When asked why the bus was sent over if the verbal agreement was not enough, Shield's stated "My driver is coming back." Shields then hung up the phone and all available staff then started to assist in finding other bus companies that can assist us because our students were now being left stranded over two hours away from home with no direct form of transportation. At approximately 2pm, we received another call from a female Representative from Best Trails and Travels that they can confirm that the payment was made to the right account and that they were no longer going to leave our children stranded. They apologized for the behavior of Mr. Robert Shields and our children were able to come home.

Expect a busy platform due to the above reasons. The one star is for how filthy and unkempt this station is: it's a disconnect considering all the overtime transit workers put in and thus us the end result. It's insulting to all passengers to ride the subways and endure unsanitary conditions especially with a pandemic going on. I do not expect any improvements from the Governor or next Mayor. The only person who understood our Metro system was Andy Byford. New Yorkers deserve better than this.

For only $2.75, same price as a subway ride, you can travel from American Veterans Memorial Pier to lower Manhattan Wall Street and Corlears Hook ( south of East River Park ). But alternatively you can take the Governor's Island direct ferry back into Manhattan. It was such a smooth ferry ride from Bay Ride -- 10 minutes total (second stop from here) and the bottom/inside of the ferry had AC, a bar and snacks area!! Since it was my first time on this ferry I went to the top to enjoy the view and it was so nice! The ferry was late but I think you should still get there on time just in case because they left as soon as everyone boarded! Was nice to take a ferry in the summer vs. the MTA trains!
