Excellent steaks and drinks. We had a couple of margaritas and daiquiris. Fantastic service too!

Firehouse Rotisserie - Fresh flowers on the table and a water pitcher all to ourselves

After some browsing for a few blocks, we came across Firehouse Rotisserie and decided to give it a try! First off, the restaurant is in a very beautiful, charming, old building. The building, like this city, seems to ooze wisdom and history! On to the food! I decided to go with the rotisserie chicken with potatoes and other veggies on the side. It was soooo flavorful, tender, and juicy! Seriously! And it was a very filling and hearty meal that fueled our further sightseeing for the day. Service was quick and friendly as well. I highly recommend stopping by and trying the rotisserie chicken!

My sister and I are a bit picky, but I'd had this spot marked for months in preparation for our trip to Bath as one of the few restaurants that had something we'd both eat, and boy did it turn out. We split the margarita pizza and a side of asparagus, which the chef ran all the way upstairs to make sure they had, -- it was so good. Possibly the best asparagus I've ever had, and we were stoked to get some veggies with dinner. The pizza crust was perfectly thin and crispy, but thick enough at the end to really sink your teeth into. Fresh basil and expertly roasted tomatoes (absolutely bursting with flavor) made for an off the charts margarita. It's hard to go wrong here but, this one really knocked it out of the park. Seating was quick, though we were on the earlier side, with water pitcher all to ourselves, which we love to get, and very clean well kept restrooms! -- though not very accessible, you must climb four flights of stairs. Try Mr. B's Emporium of Reading Delights if you have time before or afterwards, which is a beautiful and well stocked bookstore right across the street. Definitely stop by if you're in town, this one was a win! (Try the chocolate ice cream).

I know it's a restaurant chain, but The Botanist makes me smile. Every time we come here:…read more1) We eat REALLY well! (... and somehow wish we'd ordered more despite being pleasantly full) 2) We get lost going to the bathroom (... and get reprimanded by the staff) It's become our thing, really. I'll echo some of what I said in my previous review: The Botanist in Bath offers a beautiful, minimalist, plant-heavy, environment. We've always sat on the second-floor mezzanine underneath the incredibly high-vaulted ceiling. Because of this cavernous space, the acoustics can be a bit all-over-the-place especially when it's packed and they've got live music going! Any iteration of their menu offers many gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. We particularly enjoy: + the Rhubarb & Sage Spritz (if you like gin and tonics, this isn't to be missed; it's slightly fruity [without being sweet] and herbaceous [without being herbal, if that makes sense]) + the Vegan Board: There's SO. MUCH. GOING. ON. HERE. Definitely something for everyone, but the stand-outs for us continue to be the incredibly satisfying Bang Bang Cauliflower (which have a crunchy exterior and pillowy soft inside), the Giant Couscous salad (which somehow feels so light in comparison to other things on the board), the Houmous (so creamy, so flavorful; you're going to have a hard time wanting to share this!), and the Crispy Mushrooms (which are fried in a light polenta coating and come with a truffle/mustard mayo dip; it's okay that you love the dip more than you love the mushrooms - you can order more of it!). ^ you can order all of these things individually too! + [if they have them] the Sweet Chili Fries: perfectly golden-fried and topped with a sticky sweet and spicy sauce, coriander, and spring onions? Moreish! Get some to share even if you think you've already ordered too much food. + the Banoffee Sundae: made with caramelized banana, plant-based vanilla ice cream, Biscoff chocolate sauce and cookie crumb, it's absolutely indulgent and a little phallic looking. It's a reliable spot for shareable food with friends in a beautiful atmosphere. What more could you want?

The fish and chips and baked camembert were fantastic. The "chips" were well crisped and came out hot. The fish was delicate, flaky and tasty and the tartar sauce balanced and filled with herbs and pickles. The chicken katsu was dry and over cooked; it looks good but isn't worth it. The fried onion (think blooming onion if you're an American) was pretty good but nothing unique. The drink menu is extensive. They are well made and the bartenders can steer you towards what you'll probably enjoy most. I did think they tended to be a bit light on the alcohol, but hey, it's the UK! Overall enjoyable and would recommend - especially if I'm the hunt for good fish and chips or baked cheese!

I did manage to select a table in the "conservatory" - a "Florida room" glassed enclosure that faced the river. The menu is what I should call "Classic British" with pastas and burgers, plus a few of the usuals. Somehow, the Cottage Pie called me and I ordered that, with a single trip to the salad bar. I should have skipped both. The salad bar was a poor collection of 12 trays with mixed lettuce, tomatoes, corn kernels, beets, cucumbers, hard boiled eggs and (like a fish out of water) pieces of smoked fish. The cottage pie was a reasonable portion and you can rest well knowing that the mashed potatoes were at least not from a packet. The beef underneath was more mushrooms and brown gravy than minced ("ground" in American) beef. While the flavor was there, I was disappointed with the chjoice. Four or five different beers offered on tap, plus a full bar, I enjoyed a large (I wasn't offered a small) Staropramen, a Czech lager. That, at least was good. Would I return? No, there are so many other places in Bath that look good. Not sure if it matters, but Garfunkel's has several locations which perhaps qualifies it as a chain.

We…read morewere drawn in by the location with a great view of Pulteney Bridge, but with the short amount of time we were in Bath, eating here was our one regret! They had free wifi once you order, so unfortunately that's when we read all the reviews! The food was mediocre, the service was pretty close to terrible, and the ambiance was blah! We bought a special multi-course menu they were offering, which wasn't a bad deal for the price but was for the quality. Our starter was the bruschetta, and it definitely needed some vinegar/flavor besides ordinary red and green onions. For our entree, the vegetable and blue cheese pasta had enough chicken (that we paid extra for) added and was decent but not that impressive. Dessert: the creme brûlée tasted good but was cold even on the top, so it must have been pre made and torched then chilled for a while. The service was decent (as toward the end it got better) but definitely not the friendliest as we've had everywhere else in the UK. Our waitress was having a huge discussion with another table while we made every effort to get her attention for the check, but no dice for what felt like an eternity. The location and restaurant itself was beautiful, but I was surprised to hear younger genre/modern music in a very elegant setting. They did decorate well for the Christmas holidays, but my review will be like so many others and say, "SKIP IT!!!"
