Sunday rare roast beef with all the trimmings. Don't worry there was plenty of roast beef to be had in that plate of freshness!

First class old pub. Small like most of the good ones are. On Sunday they just had Sunday Roast: Roast Beef Chicken Vegetarian. I caved in and had the classic Roast Beef and a local ale that was just perfect with the food. It was a lovely crowd on a rainy Sunday in Bath. One of the most beautiful cities in all England!

A great little pub. My husband and I had just gone to the Roman bath house and were trying to get some good food and beer away from all the other tourists...heh. Fortunately we found this gem tucked away. We sat in a corner and enjoyed good beer and good food. He had a manly meaty potato thing that he loved and I had something with potatoes sans meat. It's been a couple years since we've been but so memorable was the food and beer as well as atmosphere that I had to dawdle back by and review it. If I remember right they sell the local Trappist beer too which is always a great route to go :)

This place is easily on my top 5 bar list in the world. It's not fancy, big, or have some special cocktail list. It's just the definition of an old English pub and it's fantastic. There's plenty of regulars and they have a good rotation of local beers plus the typical assortment booze. I've never had their food but the menu always looks great. If youre into the traditional summertime Pimms cup they do them with fresh fruit which is also really nice. Despite being small and 300 years old (1700s) there's a fair amount of seating although if you do want to stand that's probably the most limited for space. Unfortunately you can't take your drinks outside so if they're busy be ready to be a little close to fellow patrons. I'm not sure what else to say other than if you want to have a local pint in an iconic English pub this is it.

Great half pints!

What a lucky find when we took a small street off a main street. Confirmed with yelp and we were set! Tiny front room, four tables, friendly diners, good looking food. I enjoyed the cold crisp cider they had on tap and bf liked their house ale. Celery Stilton soup was delish and the fresh bread and butter was very good, lovely salad on the side of every sandwich. Perfect hidden spot, solid food, nothing pretentious about it. Happy we found it.

One of the smallest pubs I've ever been to. However, the beer and ambiance are delightful.

This is one of the smallest pubs I have ever visited. It is very cozy and the bar tender is very friendly. It might be small, but they carry a large variety of rotating craft beers. We stopped in for a drink before dinner and thoroughly enjoyed our time. I will stop in again the next time I am in Bath.

The bartender was really nice-she chatted a bit about the area and responded to my request for a local beer.

My husband and I went for beers today. There was a good assortment of choices. There was no food there, however.

They have several local ales on tap and some "Real Ale" cask conditioned for a traditional experience. Sadly, there was no roast beef when we arrived so we'll have to wait for the classic Sunday roast. Steak and ale pie, and a butternut squash pie were good substitutes. This is a popular spot, especially for outdoor seating. We sat inside in a cozy dining room but if the weather is dry outdoors is a nice option. Just on the outskirts of…read morecentral Bath, this delightful classic British pub has lovely interior with whimsical decor yet classy at the same time. Service was a confusing at first, but was just swell once we were seated...the leftside is a side is a traditional sit down restaurant service, the right side is a classic pub style where you order everything at the bar, and the expansive outside patio is self service as well, a completely taken over by smokers and vapers like every other European patio. £20 FISH & CHIPS! The fresh beer battered haddock was thick and crispy on the outside, and moist and tender on the inside, perfection!, The chips were pleasant enough, though crushed minted peas were just okay...maybe because they day prior I had some incredible mushy mint peas at another pub. Still a great plate overall! £20 SHORTCRUST PIES...wife went with the Chicken, Leek, and Herb...wonderfully rich and savory, with flavorful scent and warm, buttery pie crust. Lovely! Also came with seared greens, braised red cabbage, buttery mash potatoes, and rich decadent red wine gravy. £7.5 STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING...gooey, sweet, sticky, buttery, and fantastically wonderful!

The pub is unassuming on the outside but nice inside. There are two sections those for indoor dining and those wanting to sit outdoors or hang by the bar, we chose the latter. Outside is wonderful with a nice patio, plants, and plenty of shade. With the warm weather, this was a popular spot for folks. Service was friendly but limited. You order and pay for your food and drinks at the bar, they bring it out to you and that's it. I had a Lemon Chicken Pesto Sandwich. It was fine but nothing spectacular. I wish there was more filling to the sandwich, it was very bready. The fries (chips) were crispy and soft. My group enjoyed their meals as well and they looked good. Bath has lots of eateries and shops. If you're going to the Roman Baths or are in the main area, Crystal Palace is a nice spot to stop in for a bite or drink. They're located off Abbey Green near the courtyard.
