First time in a huddle house here and I was not disappointed, Angela my server was personable and polite and settled us right in. Huddle for the win! We were in town for a few days and on our last morning we wanted to try a local spot for breakfast...however apparently in the off season nothing is open on a Wednesday morning...literally went to three...THREE places in Helen proper and then just outside of town, they were ALL CLOSED! Then we remembered there was a Huddle House right in Helen and we went, were not disappointed. We had a wonderful server, the service was friendly and the cooks were fast. Food was okay. Service was not at all. Server was holding her baby while wiping off our table. No refills, had to get up three times to get refills for me and my fiancé. Restaurant was empty!! I are here twice Valentine's Day weekend. The first time it was because everything else was incredibly busy and the lines had no end in sight. I really enjoyed my breakfast here on both occasions. We pulled up to eat breakfast here today and we could tell there was a wait because there were groups of people scattered outside and inside the building. We asked a woman standing outside if there was a wait and she tells us that we need to put our name on the list. So my husband proceeds to go inside and put our name on the list, he comes back out and tells me that the server says, "I'm busy, there's no list so go wait in line." Needless to say, there was no line. We left because if the service is already this bad I wasn't going to wait to see the rest. My Favorite place to eat!...Yes...there are problems from time to time....management-type problems....but here's a good tip...if you go there when KIM (don't know her last name) is working, I guarantee you will be well taken care of...she is FIRST CLASS... your drink glass stays full...she is ALWAYS pleasant...and she gets your order right the first time....and she really makes you feel welcome....wish all restaurants had folks like Kim working for them! First of all, Miranda was our waitress and she was great and very friendly but we had to ask for several things including silverware(lol), food was ok, hasbrowns a lil too crispy and grits were like a rock, did the trick of filling us up but wont be back, I tried to get my friends to go to Hofer bakery and cafe' but they declined, next time they can go to HH and I'll go elsewhere. read more

The epitome of the old time diner, great breakfast. Eggs, pancakes, coffee, the works. The crowd is filled with locals.

It has been several years since I visited this location, but I went after a weekend getaway in the mountains & I remember raving over everything! The bacon was cooked to perfect (so much so that after eating what we had ordered we went for another round of just bacon), the service, & the cook (a younger gentlemen). I'm sure times have changed a bit, but back in the day everyone was extremely personable & knew how to cook some breakfast. Will have to try this again someday soon & maybe give a bit of a more updated review. read more

We just ate here last night. The cook/ chef was awesome! Good food. Cooked perfectly. We were very happy. It was late at night too... With two kids. We couldn't have asked for better service or food!! My wife, who really doesn't eat a lot, ate most of her country fried steak and sides! Then she took the rest to go! The service at this place is absolutely horrible. My server checked on us once, to refill my coffee. The second time she passed the table was simply to drop off the ticket. It's 8:40 in the morning and I just heard another server inform a customer that they are out of bacon. The server just passed our table, said nothing to us, and asked the table next to us if they needed anything. Had to ask another server for a box. The food was not good either. The bottom of my son's waffle was a little burnt. About 90% of the way through, he found a long brown hair. We looked around and realized one of the male cooks has long, brown, unbound hair. Ew. Next time we are in Helen and want breakfast, we will either go somewhere else or drive to Cleveland. read more

This was an amazing restaurant. The food was delicious and everything was super clean. The service was a little slow but they did an outstanding job. My family had not eaten anything since 2:00 pm and everything in Helen was closed but this was the only place that was open. And I'm really glad I chose this one. Our family had never eaten at a Huddle House before tonight. We had exhausted ourselves, looking for a decent place with a decent price. And, honestly, we had no thoughts of being thrilled with what we found...but we were! There is a tremendous assortment of choices, here...including breakfast all day. The butterfly shrimp were unbelievably good...10 for under $9, and I got Texas-style toast, baked potato, and a huge salad. Our waitress, Kim, could not have been more wonderful. The restaurant was clean, and our food came quickly. Our family of 4 ate for under $30 in a tourist town. Can't beat this! read more

Worst service ever. The two empty tables and ENTIRE counter area were vacant yet covered with food and trash from previous customers. It took them 15 minutes to clear a spot for the two of us. Then we waited another 15/20 minutes before anyone took our order. They made sure to take the order of a cook's girlfriend who came in 10 minutes after us, though. She was sitting right beside us at the counter. While in the middle of preparing our order it was brought to their attention that someone lost an entire table's order and they'd been waiting 30 minutes. They, literally, set my half done plate aside on the counter to tend to their lost order, letting our stuff (and others) sit and get cold. I ordered their steak tips with hashbrowns requesting the eggs on the side since I don't like eggs and my husband eats them. Not only did they fail to put the eggs on the side, but half of my steak pieces were STILL FROZEN. Given it took another 25 minutes to get our food I didn't ask to have it fixed. I picked through and ate what I could. Noone ever came to even attempt to refill our drinks. I want to point out all the while we weren't the least bit hostile or anything other than cordial. Don't really see a point in making a fuss, I'll let my thoughts show via tip. I've been known to tip far above and beyond for good service but this didn't deserve any. We were also sitting next to cash register and heard 2 other parties complain that their orders were wrong and cold refusing to tip. When we paid to leave, the waitress yelled out in a very rude and sarcastic manner, "Thanks for nothing! Have a great day!" in apparent anger of not receiving a tip. Class act, this place. Will never ever go back. This location would make a great place for a Waffle House. read more

Horrid service....keep focus on your waitress to make sure that they have not zoned out again.....Service is horrid. Took 10 minutes for waitress for acknowledge us even though we were sitting at counter in two chairs closest to register...after taking request for coffees, it was another 15 minutes for return of coffee...should have gotten the clue then and left but waitress finally takes order and we starting talking instead of keeping watch on our zoned out waitress....BIG MISTAKE. After waiting forever we start watching the grill master\chef working the tickets trying to predict which was ours...the nitwit comes back after waiting for 1 hr 15 mins and tells wife...sorry she stuck the ticket in her pocket and wants to know if we would like for her to retake our order again? We ate at this Huddle House late in the evening and probably received the worst service I have ever seen. Our waitress took our order and literally never came back to our table. A second waitress brought our food, which was wrong. We sent the order back, and received it wrong a second time. We never received a refill, even though our glasses were empty half way through our meal. We sat with empty plates and empty glasses for at least 20 minutes before finally asking for a manager on duty. The first waitress then stated that she thought we were just waiting to pay, even though we had never received our check. We had planned on ordering dessert, but never had the chance. The manager on duty did apologize and comp our meal, but after the terriblessing experience, it just did not seseem like enough. read more

I am honestly not sure how this place is passing health inspections. Every single staff member was handling all of the food with their hands. Never saw anyone wash their hands. Staff were sneezing and then continuing to handle food with their hands. Other staff handled raw meat with hands and then proceeded to handle cooked food with same hands. This is possibly the worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant in 28 years. My family along with friends were visiting for the weekend in Helen and decided to give the huddle house a try. We waited for 13 minutes before we were greeted by anyone to take our drink order. Once our order was placed it arrived 36 minutes later. The eggs were over done and everything was bland. Another person in our party ordered the Belgium Waffle which was undercooked.
