2 egg breakfast with no egg
    Bill D.

This is the second time we've eaten here in the past 8 years and it's always a let down. I'm this instance I came in with a friend and we ordered food to go since we had our dog with us. We sat outside and my friend went in to order for us. She ordered the "two egg" breakfast and I had the hash brown bowl with sausage and biscuit. The server who helped us was very kind and friendly and professional and even brought our food outside to us and my friend tipped her very well for being so nice. Problem is we got back to the condo and her "two egg breakfast" had NO EGGS, and my hash brown bowl had NO HASHBROWNS! Unsatisfactory indeed. For you all coming to Helen, take the drive to the Huddle House down the road in Cleveland, much better location and worth the drive.

It is what you expect from Huddle House.A great breakfast and hot coffee with just a short wait. The waitress worked hard at giving working people what they want earning a five star from The Working Man Review.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Smells heavenly![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Always a seat available each time I visited. Friendliest people, delicious food. I had a bowl with home fried potatoes, gravy, eggs, bacon, & shredded potatoes. It was excellent, cooked perfectly, & a great price. The only restaurant in the area allowing take out food. Open the latest also it seemed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dog friendly if you order to go & eat it on their patio around the corner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I sat at the breakfast counter & thoroughly loved speaking with the waitress. Lovely, friendly people. Coffee was delicious too. The best place for comfort food, warm like a hug. They ran out of fruit though. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Super busy Thanksgiving weekend.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Nice place to stop for Breakfast after church on Sunday morning. Dixie was our waitress and she did a very good job. The little girl in the next table fell in love with Dixie. Good was good my wife had the sausage, egg with Sausage Gravy on top. Stacked with hash browns, then applewood bacon eggs then topped with sausage gravy. She liked it and enjoyed it. A little more than one person can eat. I had the Philly cheese steak omelette and it was very good also. All the veggies were cooked well and it tasted good also. Hash browns were not like Waffle House over done and small portion. After the surge plenty of empty tables to clean did not seem like any effort went into that till customers came in so they had to wait for tables to be cleaned. Good value for the meals we had.

Angels, the lot of them. They took us in half an hour until close without a single complaint (I know, I know, I swear we offered to leave so as to not inconvenience them; We arent 'those' kind of people usually) but they insisted we stay and served us a delicious hot meal. We were in and out before close. Julia was an absolute sweetheart and I gotta say 15/10 service and major thumbs up on sweetness and professionalism. Everything was cooked to perfection and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the place is utterly spotless. Even the bathrooms are just impeccable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Every time we are in Helen we make sure to stop by the only Huddle House we enjoy going to. The staff here have always been so kind and accommodating. Even after covid with the short staff and running out of certain foods the staff is always so apologetic even though it's not their fault. Service wonderful. Food comforting. Till they give us a reason not to, we will be returning.

Food was decent. The frier was down and couldn't get the skillet I wanted originally. I ended up ordering Hashbrown stuff plate. The table was dirty when we first sat down, had to clean it myself. The staff was friendly. Not sure if I'll return.

The best part is definitely the setting--you can sit and watch tubers float down the river while you eat. Just keep in mind there are no fans or air conditioning, so it can get pretty hot... The menu posted on the food truck/website is not the full menu, so make sure to ask for the paper copy. They're known for the Buddha Burger and also have some healthier options. The food was okay for me, but if you love greasy smash burgers, you'd probably rate it much higher. One thing I didn't love was the pricing. Prices have increased, and there is an upcharge for paying by credit card that I didn't see mentioned on their website. There are also no fountain drinks--everything is bottled and purchased separately. Service was great. The person cooking and serving us was very friendly and genuinely eager to tell us about the food, the location, and their sister restaurant (Hoochee's River basket). Overall, I'd stop by again if I were already in the area, especially for a casual picnic-style meal with a nice river view. The atmosphere/location is really what makes it unique.

If you've spent more than five minutes eating your way through Alpine Helen GA, you already know…read morethe truth: finding genuinely good, made-from-scratch food here feels like a competitive sport--and most places are losing. Campfire Restaurant isn't just winning... it's playing a completely different game. I've been here since day one, watching owner Matt and his crew build this place with intention and pride. This isn't a "let's open and see what happens" spot--this is passion, detail, and respect for doing food right. In a town where "authentic" can mean reheated and overpriced, Campfire stands out like a perfectly cooked ribeye in a sea of mediocrity. The vibe hits immediately--rustic North Georgia lodge meets modern comfort. Wood, textures, that Smoky Mountains ambiance. Indoor dining is cozy, outdoor dining under Edison lights is where the magic lives. It's date night, family dinner, or "I survived today" energy all in one place. Locals recommend this place for a reason--and locals don't hype things lightly. Now the food. Everything is made in-house--real Southern food, comfort food, and American food with flavor and consistency. The Southwest Gunpowder Nachos? Legendary. Handmade chips, massive portions--get steak and extra corn. It's two meals unless you're me. Best value in Helen. The smash burger is easily one of the best in Georgia--juicy, consistent, unforgettable. Fried chicken is solid, but locals will tell you: get the chicken tenders. Ribeye is tender, juicy, and always recommended. Mac and cheese? Creamy, different--but I'll admit I'm biased because mine is elite. Still worth trying. And the s'mores dessert--if you don't have room, make room. It's rich, indulgent, and perfect for date night or birthdays. Service has that "Cheers" feel--friendly, consistent, no judgment if you roll in looking like life just happened. They remember you, take care of you, and that matters. Parking is easy in the Alpine village shopping center. Seating is quick if you're smart about timing (don't be silly). Live music adds to the vibe without overpowering it. Prices are reasonable (rare for Helen), portions are big, and quality stays consistent--that trifecta is everything. This is a bucket list, must visit, locals favorite, top rated spot in Alpine Helen GA. Whether it's Oktoberfest, a Smoky Mountains trip, or just a Friday night--this is where you go when you want food that actually delivers. And honestly? In this town... that says everything. #facts REASONS TO VISIT: 1. Must visit, bucket list restaurant in Alpine Helen GA 2. Locals favorite, top rated, best in North Georgia 3. When a server set the steak on the table shortly after, I asked for 57 sauce, as I'm a sauce guy. When the server brought it back he told me to try a bite without sauce as their steaks are well seasoned. Boy was he right! The gunpowder seasoning along with the clarified butter really enhanced the flavor of the ribeye. My wife gave me a bite of her chicken Alfredo and it was well seasoned too. Nice balance of garlic. The sides are the reason for a the 4 star review, though if judged by the steak alone, it would easily be a 5 star review. I ordered the loaded mashed potatoes, and they were topped with cheese and bacon. The potatoes needed seasoning. Mostly salt, pepper, and butter. The same could be said of the Mac and cheese. We started with the Pretzel Bites which were essentially deep fried pieces of pretzels. Not sure who thought to say this was Bavarian style. I'm not entirely sure they were deep fried but they had a very thick batter and tasted similar to say an onion ring batter. Very crunchy even through. We're pescatarian anyway so food is always limited in tourist towns (but far easier to find options in Germany than in Helen). I decided to go with the veggie burger which was a black bean patty from Morningstar. Honestly I like them and we asked before anyway so this was fine with me. The bread was good and the fries were fresh and hot. My wife got the fish platter I think it was called and it was pretty bad. She could eat the fries but not all of the fish. It was heavily deep fried and you could flick it putting a dent in the batter. My son got the fried shrimp which he ate a couple of but then said he was done. My wife tried his and said it was better than the fish platter so had a couple. We went with two friends who shared chicken tenders. They weren't impressed, to me they looked like chicken schnitzel it was so thin. I'm not going to judge quality on chicken though so it may be good? Location and service was the main thing going for it. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, we sat outside and we could watch people float by tubing so people watching was good. The atmosphere at this time during lunch was pretty quiet and chill. I could see it getting packed in the evenings especially for those going out for drinks. Overall I can't say I was surprised by the quality but I hoped I would be wrong. For the cost and quality of food we won't go back.
