We are happy Yonah Burger has reopened. There have been some obvious renovations to the inside and to the bathrooms. Brian greeted us and took our order upon entering. I ordered a Slaw Dog with Chili and Fries. The Captain ordered a Single Hamburger and Slaw. The hamburger appears to be a hand patty and was good. The Slaw Dog with Chili was not hot. Brian did try to make good by bringing another, but it was the same temperature. I'm perplexed. If it had been hot, it would have been a hot dog "out of the park" but I just couldn't wrap my mouth around a cold dog. On another critique...there was no toilet paper in the women's restroom and the table we sat at had not been wiped down. We really want to like it, but this visit was not remarkable. We came right around 2:50pm and they said they were closing soon so we'd have to get our food to go which was fine with us. Yonah Burger benefits from the brewery next door and out of town traffic. I'm not sure a local would visit considering the price, the inaccuracies of orders, and lack of having it together to serve customers. We ordered two hamburgers with everything, no cheese requested. Cheese is extra, which is fine. We just didn't want it. We called ahead to order because they're notorious for long waits for food. Good luck finding a phone number. The one list on yelp doesn't work. There are two separate facebook pages, one with the old number and one with no number. You have to message the business for their number. I'll save you time: 706-865-0114. The person taking the order didn't ask for a name and we spent a lot of time listening to each other breathe. We get our food and cheese was added. If you don't like cheese or can't eat it, this causes a problem. We made the mistake of not checking the order before we left. The burgers are big, but sides are small. Both the onion rings and fries were good. The burger was fine, nothing special. It was on a bun a little sweeter than we like, but still good. The price for 2 burgers and sides was $22. Stopped at this local restaurant for breakfast while exploring the area. Very friendly crew. You place your order at the counter and they deliver to the table. We ordered biscuits and gravy, hash browns and sausage gravy and a breakfast plate with country ham. We also ordered 2 diet cokes and a water. We're from North Florida so I'm sure our accent was a challenge but we did have a few issues with getting the order accurate. I couldn't complain though because they were super nice and what we did get was pretty good. The hash browns are actually tater tots- again just fine because I love tater tots. Honestly, if I was not so hungry after a long hike up the Yonah Mountain, this probably would have gotten a 2 star. But after a whole afternoon of hiking, my my my, I was hungry. So, that hunger, might have had some influence. I order the double patty burger with everything. Apparently, there is outside seating, but I did not see any tables or chairs outside. So that was a bit misleading. Indoor wise, last time I checked, every business was requiring facial covers to protect staff and customers. Let's just say, COVID is considered fiction in this restaurant, staff and customers alike. The burger is a pretty decent size burger. The double patty with everything is pretty large. When I mean large, you can't bite into it. The patties were juicy, fully cooked, and the grease was substantial. The oil seeped through the buns, and the buns were just getting melted away because of the oil from the patties. I had no issues with lettuce, tomato slices, mushroom, etc. They were all fine. The burger definitely hit the spot when I only had a protein bar all day. The burgers are heavy, and the one I had, it might have been too much grease and oil. I inhaled it, but then felt really really really gross afterward. I don't think buns should melt away because of the grease and oil from the patties. I say it is a great burger for where it is located, which is middle of nowhere. Will it do well in the city, probably not. OUT OF PIES AT 12:30 on a gorgeous Saturday? WTH? Ok, whatever. Order takes about 17 minutes, but I have to say the wait for the food was worth it. $5.95 for a double cheeseburger that blows away McD's $4.50 Double Quarter Pounder. Thick patties with plenty of fixins. I'm glad I didn't order fries because I would not have been able to eat them! One of the best burgers I've had. Better than Five Guys and Cheeseburger Bobby's. Something i realized on my second visit (first time eating in) is that the Coke machine and tea are behind the counter. If you want a refill, you have to go up to the register and wait at the side of the line until the cashier acknowledges you. This also causes backups in ordering because the cashier has to pour the drinks after customers pay for their meal. I think they need to have a self-serve soda and tea counter outside in the dining room. This would make ordering faster and facilitate people getting their refills. Food gets a five. We are here on vacation. Came in at 11:30am on a Saturday. Place was not full. We ordered quickly. At 12:18 we got our food. 3 hamburger meals and a kids hot dog meal. $54. Burger are good, but small. Not sure why the Kitchen is so slow, but hard to understand why a burger place needs 45 minutes to get an Order out. Her head is barely off her arm and the counters. Yet her T shirt proclaimed she doesn't like "haters". When I go to different cities on vacay, I want to know where the locals eat because I know it will be good! This local will eat anywhere rather than yonah burger! Yonah burger has been one of those places that I drive by all the time and say, "Man, I really want to eat there one day!" Well, after about seven years of saying that, I finally got to try it out. After hiking yonah mountain for a few hours, I was pretty hungry and craving some comfort food. For me, a burger is definitely one of those things that brings me comfort! Yonah burger is literally right at the bottom of the mountain when you're leaving so it was the perfect day and reason to finally get to try this place out. I came on a Sunday, so I was worried that they might be closed, but when I looked them up on my phone, it said they closed at 5:00. However, when I got there at 2:50, I noticed a paper sign on the door that said they closed at 3:00. I was so thankful that I had arrived before 3:00, because I was still very hungry and excited to try this place out. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a not so pleasant girl at the register. It was pretty obvious she was angry that I walked in right before they were to close. Since this was my first time there, I asked her about the size of the burgers. I was pretty hungry after a long hike, but still wasn't sure if I wanted to order a single or a double. She said the burgers were pretty thin, so I ordered a double cheeseburger with a side of fries. It took a lot longer for my order to be made than I expected. There was only one group that had ordered ahead of me and that was it. The place was pretty empty. When I finally got my food, I was definitely surprised at how big the patties were. In my opinion, they were average size patties so a single patty is definitely a nice serving size. However, I decided that the double was a treat for me hiking on Yonah mountain and called it a day. I have to say I was a little disappointed with the amount of fries I got.The fries are ordered separately and have a separate price-almost $4! The serving size I got was very small and they were your basic crinkle cut fry. With a price that high, I would expect the serving size to be larger and for the fries to at least hand cut or freshly seasoned. These were unseasoned and as basic as you can get for a not so basic price. When my burger was brought to me, I asked if I could have some ketchup on the side for my unseasoned, dry fries. The same unpleasant girl told me that they were out of ketchup and began to walk away. I noticed that my burger had ketchup on it, so I asked if I could have some ketchup from the kitchen. She said no because that was the ketchup for the kitchen. I looked at her confused and asked if there was any way she could put it in a small cup and bring it out of the kitchen. She responded I guess and walked away acting like I had asked her to perform an act of God or something. I definitely have to say the customer service I received during my visit here is extremely lacking. I expected this place to have kind of a down-home country feel to it and instead it was very cold and sterile. I left feeling pretty full and everything tasted OK, but nothing special like I had expected. Be prepared to spend about $13-$15 on a burger and fries and even more if you decide to get a drink. I do feel these prices are a little high for what you get but there's not much to choose in the area, especially after you've just hiked Yonah Mountain and are starving. Loved the juicy grilled burger, creamy coleslaw and seasoned fries! Good portions too and very clean and quaint restaurant. View of the mountains is a plus.
