The 2nd visit to this place Was disappointing I spent close to 170 dollars on two ribeyes and some beer and gator bites and oysters. The ribeye was kinda disappointing to be honest. I am giving this review 3 stars because of the high price to food quality. I think it was super salty and the blackened gator bites were too small of a portion for 11.99. I also drove an hour to get there. I'm not saying it was bad but the sirloin was better than the Ribeye and they use a lot of salt on tje "blackened" Seasoning but anyways go give it a try for yourself read more

My group was from out of town on a hunting trip and our guide recommended this place. We underestimated the warning of getting there early. This is a local favorite and the door is packed/lined up to get in 30 min before they open. We all got the Blackened Ribeye steak. Great choice! Great flavor, no need for sauce. I'd recommend ordering it a little less done than you actually want it to accommodate for it being served on hot skillet that will continue to cook it a little more as it comes out. The blackened oysters were also very good. I don't usually eat oysters and I enjoyed them. Great blackened gator as well! Friendly servers and staff. Made us feel like regulars. read more

Wonderful place to have a prime rib. Wasn't cooked quite to my liking as they only prepare rare to medium prime rib, but truly delicious none the less. And BIG! We had Queen and King cuts. No skimping on size, for sure. Our server was right on top of all our dining needs. And she had a personable attitude, which was like a breath of fresh air in a sea of restaurants with snooty, "you're lucky I'm here to take your order" servers. The baked beans with green peppers was a tasty surprise, as was baked potato. A perfect baked potato is uncommon here in the South, for some reason. But Hub's nailed it. Wish they had chives to go on it, but the excellent potato was fine without chives. We ordered fountain sodas, taking a leap of faith. It seems the water in most towns tastes and smells bad. Presumably from the wells drawing up farmland chemical tainted water. Not so here. The sodas tasted perfect. Yet another plus for Hub's. Now the complaints. Honestly, I'm embarrassed to even consider them complaints. But rather, minor details that should be looked into. Our French silk pies were dry on the cut edges. This likely from being cut in advance and sitting on a plate for awhile. French silk should always be cut fresh from the pie and never allowed to sit on a plate for more than a few minutes. It is a delicate pie requiring careful preparation for that exquisite flavor rush. Last issue, the cigarette smoke. Being Political Refugees from CommieFornia, we have been spoiled by dining without the disgusting stench of cigarette smoke and it's dangerous secondhand hazards. However, we do understand smoking sections are legal in Kentucky, and Hubs has done a fair job of containing the smoke. But, it's smoke,...and smoke finds it's way everywhere. It wasn't actually too bad, as I recall the time when people smoked at tables all around you. But,...still I want anyone reading this to know the smell exists. Focus on your delicious plate of food and you should be okay. Overall, we give Hub's a 2 thumbs up. We will return for more and we will recommend Hub's to friends. read more

An island in a sea of short lived restaurants, and mediocre food. I had the blacken strip with fried green tomatoes, and potato salad. Steak was perfect, fried tomatoes were crisp and tart, and the potato salad surprisingly different. We had oysters on the half shell, and something like a oyster Rockefeller that was as good as Ruth Chris could ever over-charge you for. The service was good and everyone's steaks were cooked perfect even tho they were slammed with an hour wait. One of the owners visited our table, gave us their history, and made sure we were taken care of. Wine list was lacking, but that's about the only complaint I could come up with. I hate to say it but Hubs is the only place within 50 miles that you can get a real meal outside a meat and 3. They would do just as well in Nashville if they served at this level. Went here on a Tuesday night around 6m and as expected no wait to be seated. We had the onion jalapeño loaf and it is a definitely must try. A subtle hint of jalapeño and was crisply delicious. Joyce had the rib eye steak medium and blackened. That's actually what she received. She gave it two thumps up . I had the BBQ pork and it was flavorful and delicious. Both dishes were served with bake beans and also get . Overall well worth the drive there and will return. Btw, no smoke encroached the non-smoking area. It may appear hazy in the non-smoking area but my observation is it's the ceiling effect and the steaks come out in a sizzling skillet that may also give that effect. Wow! Lived in Hickman for nearly a year and never went there to eat. It seemed always busy and I just never liked bars. Finally on urging from friends and a relative...I decided to take a shot. I went there on a Wednesday night...supposedly slower...the dining room was crowded and I'm not too keen on large crowds. I ate at the bar. A family restaurant...not a bar! First surprise! ...Great bar area with TV and a fantastic bartender...Matt (Chew) Wright...Second surprise! By recommendation...I had the 14 oz. (18 oz. is available) blackened ribeye. Third surprise!!! It was awesome...cooked to perfection on the medium rare order and served on a steaming metal plate with onions and mushrooms...after a Bloody Mary...a fantastic meal of blackened steak, green beans and baked potato...and a Yager Bomb for dessert...the price was the fourth surprise! Great meal for the price. They have an exotic menu for such a small town...that's why they are always busy. One of the owners...Bill Watts?...I hope I have his name right. Not afraid to be seen busing the tables while checking on his customers well being...The waitresses are cute to! Had heard from numerous coworkers what a great steakhouse. So good that there is a lays a wait. Drove the family over for mother's day. There is a long wait then, you're herded in like cattle. The tables and chairs are sticky with filth, bathrooms are horrendous. All the appetizers were obviously dumped out of a cardboard box and straight into the fryer. Blah! Salad was iceberg lettuce. House dressing tasted like fanch, ketchup and Bleu cheese mixed together. New York strip had an off taste like it was freezer burned and was grisly. The ribeye was full of fat. I never thought I would try Alligator (it's just one creepy looking creature), but my daughter & I wanted to be adventurous. We got it as an appetizer & had it blackened...OMG it was so yummy!!! The shrimp are colossal with wonderful flavor, the beef tips come to the table on a sizzling hot cast iron skillet, the steaks are juicy & tender. The dinner salad is not worth eating, it's just a bunch of iceberg lettuce and stuff and the sautéed veggies have no flavor, but the meats... Oh So Yummy!!! Hub's is a pleasant surprise located in a small town on the banks of the Mississippi in western Kentucky. There aren't too many choices in the vicinity for dinner, but that doesn't make Hub's slack off. The place has a comfortable ambience. The staff is gracious. The food is good. The prices are definitely reasonable. The only negative is that tobacco smoke from the smoking area is noticeable in the non-smoking dining room, otherwise the score would be a 'five.' read more

I give a 4 star only because of the blacken steak. We went there on a Saturday arrived at 5:15. We didn't get seated till 7:30 because they were seating friends of theirs and also big parties. Hubs is our favorite place to eat!!! Hubby and I have been eating here for years. Blackened steaks are absolutely wonderful! Raw oysters are delicious, Blackened alligator and the grilled alligator are great but if you want the best, most tender alligator ever....get the fried!!! The sauce that comes with the gator is awesome! We have had some long waits before (which most of the time we had a very large party of 10 to 18, so worth it to me) and on one occasion they were out of everything that went on a salad but the fix to all that is.....go EARLY!!!!! If you live here and want to meet neighbors, maybe; if you don't live here, the wait, the drive, and the amount of people packed in isn't worth it. Well, maybe if you don't mind standing room only everywhere you go. That would seem to be a good recommendation, but not really. We went on a Saturday night. It's a steak house with a bar. Plain and simple. The bar was great, the drinks mixed well, and the bartenders are attentive. As far as the food, they do okay steaks. There's a huge and varied menu with exotic meats. Since it's in the middle of rural nowhere in a teeny town, without, I imagine, a huge demand for alligator, calamari, or ostrich, you're welcome to take a chance on their freezer and the age of the exotic meat. There was not enough wait staff. Wait to be seated was 1.5 hours. Wait to order food was a quarter hour. Wait for salad was a quarter hour. Wait for entree was nearly 45 minutes after being seated. The salad was okay, but it was delivered 10 minutes before we could get a server's attention to get silverware. If you don't like crowds, and you're a local, maybe calling in a to-go order gives you a fantastic meal. If you love crowds and don't mind waiting for a steakhouse meal, go for it. If you're driving a fair way, go somewhere closer for a steakhouse meal. read more

My husband is from Hickman. We visit between 2 and 5 times per year. A trip is never complete without a trip to Hubs. Considering it is in a town of roughly 2000, it has a menu that offers variety and of quality of a restaurant in larger cities. If you must travel to this area, don't miss Hub's. Food is decent, nothing to brag about. If you live or are close to it then it beats driving to Union City, Paducah, or Jackson. However, in the past three years I have noticed their quality has gone down substantially. They use to have mixed drinks to brag about to everyone!!! Today if you order a standard size, you will receive $7 of mix with no alcohol. If you order a mason jar it is $14 with still no alcohol. By the time you wait in line for a table you could have drived the distance of the other locations and had a better dining experience. Overall WAY OVER PRICED! read more

Finally went here with my family, after hearing nothing but good about the place. We were the first table seated in the front room. We were the last table in the room to get our food after inquiring two times, and, it was blamed on a large birthday party that was in the next room. My plate was served with the wrong sides, and, when I finally got the right order, the steak was cold, fries were cold, and onion rings under cooked. To add salt to the wound, our ticket had gratuity already added to it.
