Birthday meal for eight with reservation. Ava and the team warmly welcomed us upon arrival. Complimentary valet was a nice touch. A special red menu for the birthday girl was presented and included a handwritten note from the staff. Steaks were cooked perfectly to order while the wonderful fish entrees were equally well prepared. Sides were unique and delicious, as were an assortment of desserts to end the meal. Small town, local steakhouse, we came with our party who have been several times before. The staff were wonderful. Attentive, polite, and very pleasant to be around. We were seated in the back of the restaurant. The lighting is a bit dim, but it helps to set the mood. They also have outdoor seating as well. Their menu is simple. Three out of the four of us ordered the Famous Benton bacon Wrapped Bourbon-Glazed Filet and the other, Blues City Filet with blue cheese crumbles. Thankfully, you are given the option to choose your own sides. Two of us got the bourbon bacon maple brussel sprouts and the other two, creamed spinach. We did not wait long for the food to be served. All the filets were cooked perfectly to order - medium rare. The filets were tender, cut like butter and melted in your mouth. They are topped with tallow. I am not a fan of that but none the less it did not interfere with the taste of the meat. The The Benton filet had a sweet taste from the bourbon, not my favorite but I assumed the taste when I ordered it and still very much enjoyed the meat. The two of us who ordered the Brussel sprouts found them to be served luke-warm, we both took notice to this and they should've been warmer. The creamed spinach was served hot and was delightful. The owner became aware of the situation and took the steps to make it right. The reason this restaurant is deserving of 5 stars is because the attention and care the owner took to right the wrong. Steakhouses are expensive and instead of being brushed off because the side dish was cold, he cared. You don't get that anymore in restaurants and with that, we will for sure be returning read more

Outstanding food and service, Oaklawn is a big city dining experience with 5 star food and service to match. The 2 "recent" 2025 complaints, this is an intimate dining establishment, and hardly a sports bar. Also the complaint about the Owner being politically and racially motivated? Seriously, you have wayyy too much time on your hands. The Owner is always courteous, accommodating and proud of offering an excellent dining experience. Wife and I had the Grouper with crab meat and the Blackened Redfish, both tasty, cooked to perfection and a sizeable satisfying portion. Valet is complimentary and as a courtesy only, very nice when Oaklawn is booked solid. We moved to Paris early April, we were exhausted for a few weeks and finally made it Monday May 5th. It was my wife's birthday and the staff had a nice Happy Birthday placard on table, a special menu and then she received a complimentary and perfectly created Creme Brulee, a nice touch. we celebrated New Years Eve with friends at our Go To place for special occasion, Oaklawn Southern Dining. we went in knowing what was being served and the price per person. the fillets were cooked perfectly and the cheesecake was lovely, we would have liked the options other were offered, (strawberry, chocolate, whipped cream) and a bar menu. Passing through on a Thursday evening, we were able to be seated immediately without reservations. A little thrown off by the valet parking--your car is just moved into a space on the parking lot. We anticipated a quiet and satisfying dinner. Server was congenial. I asked how the lobster tail was prepared for the Surf n Turf special. She didn't know. She did confirm the beef filet was grilled. While we waited for our entrees, the owner came over and proceeded to give us tales from his hospitality career--bragging even about overcoming (an unspecified named racial crisis) , COVID, and political uproar. Hmmm. Did not appreciate the lecture. I ordered my filet medium-rare. It was served medium. Lobster meat was rubbery and overcooked--and sprinkled heavily with some kind of spice powder. The steak and the lobster were sitting in a pool of an orange colored sauce--red peppers? The menu did not specify sauces and spices used in the entree preparation. The steak was covered in seared black peppercorns and a weird herb-tarragon, thyme??? The proteins' flavors was totally missing with all the stuff!. When I inquired about those issues, the manager came and insisted on "re-plating" my food. She left my bowl of macaroni and cheese for me to "snack on" and promised it would take no more than 90 seconds. I did not request this. So, the macaroni got cold and my entree came back to me-same (cold and dry) lobster, new (still overcooked) filet. I blame the owner for mismanagement of hospitality. Pretentious and a little political! Total disappointment considering the prices. read more

Okay so there was a lot that went wrong with our meal at Oaklawn dining. We went for our anniversary, and was just left with disappointment. The place was incredibly loud and needed to decide what it was going to be. If you're trying to pass for a sports bar, tvs everywhere are great. But the prices just don't match the ambiance. And people not following the "dress code" don't help this. I ordered the steak, which was $67, but huge so worth the price if it had been edible. Unfortunately it was not. It was absolutely covered in black pepper ruining the taste of the steak and sauce. Upon cutting into it, the steak was also a cold rare steak, and not the medium rare I ordered. I've eaten a rare steak before, and it's not my favorite thing, but I could eat it. This however was seriously raw in the center. Paired with the pepper, I really couldn't eat it. I mentioned to the waitress, and she told me a lot of people found the steak too peppery and that she would fix it. Great. And if that had been the end of it my experience would've been a lot better. Unfortunately when they brought the steak back out it was very clear they just scraped the same steak off and cooked it more. It's an expensive cut of steak, so I get it, but the sauce it had on it absolutely burned on the outside when they did this causing the steak to taste charred. And they put it back on the same plate they used to scrape off the pepper onto, so it was just sitting on the same pile of pepper. But it was edible this time as I asked for, and received, a medium steak the second time around. The cut was fatty but ribeyes usually are. Unfortunately though whenever the waitress boxed up my food I specifically separated the fat I cut off onto a separate plate and told her I wanted everything else bagged up. I had about half of the steak still whole and the other half cut nicely into pieces to eat. When I got home, I realized she had thrown away the half of the steak I had cut up into pieces. Essentially wasting half the steak. I purposely put the fatty pieces on a separate plate for her, and informed her, to avoid any confusion. If I'm paying $67 for a steak, I'd like to eat all of it. The people were very nice, and they really tried to make it seem like a nice place with the valet parking but the food and atmosphere were not up to par with the price and quality of the meal. The cesar salad was delicious and customer service was good but that's about all the good notes I have unfortunately. I don't think we will be back. read more

Went with a group here. Small town but very high-end Valet Parking and Host was gracious. I'm a fan of shrimp and grits and their's did not disappoint. This is certainly not the kind of restaurant you'd expect to find in a small town such as Paris. The restaurant lies in what used to be a single level home. It's been converted to a quaint, modern, beautiful little eatery. We've been here twice now and both times were absolutely fantastic. I had a steak both visits and both were incredible and cooked to perfection. The sides were great, and the service is friendly and welcoming. Dress appeared to be anything between T-shirt and jeans to collared shirt and slacks. Parking is free valet. The Pork Chop was absolutely amazing and the Lamb Chops were extremely delicious. Our food experience was outstanding. I cant recall our servers name but she was fantastic. We sat on the patio on a perfect 72° evening, the trees surrounding the patio provided a natural ambiance to the setting. The Espresso Martinis were the best i've ever had. It's a very romantic atmosphere and also perfect for groups. My partner and i couldn't stop looking up at the trees, it was very pretty. After dinner and now waiting for the Chocolate Mousse, The Owner, Joe came up to our table and gave a personalized greeting and thank you to us. Great guy, he didn't talk too much or too little (you know how some over stay their welcome haha) he was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Our chocolate mousse arrived shortly after, you could tell the whipped cream was homemade, this dessert was rich and creamy... VERY delicious. We realized we were very full and took the dessert to go after just one bite, and omg they box food up for you! Ladies, they also have a PURSE STOOL for your bag or purse!!! (That way it doesn't sit on the floor) Gentlemen, they have Pappi Van Winkle and an absolutely huge collection of all sought after Bourbon. One of the first #1 steakhouses i have had so far in my life, my partner was blown away as well. Really spectacular place. Jay and I tried a relatively new place in Paris last night - Oaklawn Southern Dining and it was AMAZING. The atmosphere, the food, the service, just all around 10/10. Complementary valet. We were celebrating our birthdays so they gave us celebration menu, complementary champagne + strawberry chocolate plate, and complementary dessert. The food was cooked to perfection with good serving sizes! ‍Our server was super sweet and the owner made an appearance at all the tables. I watched several other servers around us and they were all just as good! If you're looking for a good place to celebrate, or just have an awesome meal, I highly recommend! Paris TN is a small town and to have a elegant steakhouse of this caliber is a blessing. When arriving, parking is a little tricky..look for signs... drive up to the front and you will be greeted by valet. Everyone is friendly and smiling. The ambiance is nice and on par with a steakhouse. The food is five star... I have had a good selection of the menu and have not had a meal less than excellent. The wait staff are what you would expect of a high end steakhouse, top notch. In closing, Oaklawn has earned the five star rating.... Last night was a great night for our Supper Club. We visited Oak Lawn Restaurant in Paris. To start with the service was perfect. There was always someone paying attention to our table. The owner visited a few times and was on top of the operation all around. The drinks were perfect though the entire menu was heavy bourbon. I tried the White Russian with touch of Pecan and had a second. The boys enjoyed their bourbon and Old Fashioned. The appetizers were a hit. I ate grits. I hate grits, mainly texture, but the flavor with the New Orleans Shrimp was fantastic. The Fried Green Tomatoes were perfectly done with a nice aioli on them. The Seafood Taster, with scallops were a lot like crab cakes which I don't like but managed to get through one of these little balls of happy. I also had the Crab Soup, which frankly was my favorite part of the meal, it was so smooth and rich. I had the Blackened Redfish, which I'm fanatical about its preparation and this was spot on. I wish it had a little more spice or heat, but it was the best I've had in a long time. Christy said the Grouper Imperial was great with the crab topping taking the dish to the next level. Josh said his filet mignon was the best he'd ever had, and his lobster looked divine. Dan agreed. There was a mix up on Minnie and Kandy's steaks, but I get it, they both got butterflied but Minnie gets hers well done, which probably gave the Chef a stroke and she just plated them wrong. All of the sides were excellent especially the green beans and the luxurious sweet potato casserole, though the garlic mashed potatoes needed a little more flavor. read more
