Where do I start??? Bobby Gee's is a total treat!!! I had never heard of Bobby Gee's before today. My husband and I took the day off work to spend together and I turned to Yelp to find our lunch outing for the day. When we arrived, we found ourselves taking a trip back in time. This place really is a step back into the old school 50s & 60s diner. Now, let's get to the service and the food. We were waited on by Sarah and my Diet Dr. Pepper glass never got empty before she had a refill there waiting on me. We started off with an order of the fried mushrooms and those were some big mushrooms! They were hot and fresh. Then we ordered our meals. We got the double bacon cheeseburger and the Bobby G burger and we split the burgers so we could both sample them. That double bacon cheeseburger was huge!!! It was a 1lb burger and there was no way we could finish it. The Bobby G burger was perfect as well. We ended the meal with the fried Oreos that Sarah recommended and they did not disappoint. As for the prices, they don't come any more reasonable than Bobby Gee's. Our total was $38 for an appetizer, 2 drinks, 2 burgers with fries, and dessert. I'm telling you this place is a must!!! We met the owner, Mrs. Cindy, in the kitchen while she was busy cooking and serving up this delicious food. We made sure to tell her how great everything was today and what a true delight Bobby Gee's is! Put this place on your list if you're anywhere near McKenzie, TN...you won't be disappointed!!!

You can't beat the cheeseburger or breakfast. Best in McKenzie for sure. If you go for lunch, go early or you will wait to get in.

Solid three star place! They get an extra one for the free entertainment. More on that in a…read morebit... My Mom lives near here. For some reason I had this place bookmarked and didn't remember it. C found it on Yelp and suggested it for lunch after a visit with Mom. Arrived at like 2:20 on a Saturday and it's packed... Like, almost completely full! Good sign. It's homey/country/redneck/slapped together with duct tape and epoxy looking inside. My kind of place! Seat yourself, choose a table out in the middle no one was at, and got the run down by our pre-server. If you don't know, that's the person that could wait on you but won't because of some dumb arbitrary system they have in place. I digress... We get our bevs, pre-server reminds us again she is not the one and leaves. Real server shows and we order. Had the crispy hot wings for an app. Five wings for $5.99. They are undoubtably the Foster Farms wings from the freezer section. That's ok though, I like them. I post about them from Costco. C ordered Sloppy Joes. Server says they out, so she orders a bacon cheeseburger with tots instead. I ordered Catfish with a baker, white beans, and hush puppies. Now C warned me that the catfish looked "too white".... I didn't pick up on this meaning like "honky white", instead of undercooked or lightly battered. She explained this later in the car. I understood then, and she was dead on! Food was meh all around . All factory formed and breaded proteins. Catfish was overcooked to the point to being dry and stringy inside. Cold beans. Cold hushes. Old ass potato. I tried C's tator tots, cold too. Here is why they get four.... The following seems to be a thing here, as I have read the same comment now, multiple times, in others reviews. Right after we ordered, some stranger walks up, looks at us, pulls out a chair, sits down, and asks if she can eat with us. What do you say but yes???!!! She gets her BLT in 5 mins. Ours takes like 25.... I swear this place sets this up! We sit and watch her eat while she spits bits of food at us while sharing the last decade or so of her life. The next 40 minutes are wild. Her name was Gail. I know more about Gail than I ever wanted to know about anyone outside of my family now. She didn't stop talking the entire time. I won't bore you with all of the details of Gail's life. She can do that if you come. She said she used to come there every day but had to slow down because of her "sugar". You should totally ask if Gail is there, I swear you will feel so much better about your situation if you break bread with her. My wife zoned out completely and left me all alone to deal with Gail on my own. Empathy is not my strongest attribute. I pulled it off though. We wanted pie, but C was unnerved by the verbal assault that was occurring, she paid for the table and headed outside. People are strange creatures man.... Sometimes I swear this is just a simulation. Checked this one off the list. If I am ever bored and in need of a strangers companionship, you'll find me here I suppose. '25 - 2/111

First off: they have a very welcoming staff. The Cashier was very helpful and made good recommendations. I was surprised at the amount of choices on the menu. Taters, sandwiches, flatbreads, wraps, soups, salads. Took us a while to decide. :) I chose to try the Cheeseburger Tater, which was just as the cashier said, very good! The crumbled burger meat on it was quality meat and very well seasoned and the "burger sauce" (I'm guessing a mix of mayo & ketchup) really made it a treat. If the shredded cheese was melted a bit more it would have been perfect but that's just nit picking. Really enjoyed that recommendation. The wife had the grilled chicken wrap with honey mustard in spinach tortilla. She also thought it was very good. (They offer a choice of four tortillas: Flour, Spinach, Jalapeño, and Tomato-Basil. This isn't listed on the menu, that we saw.) The side of potato soup was the only disappointment. Strange taste that neither of us liked. For dessert we tried 3 cookies: Chocolate Chip (tasty), Peanut Butter (average), and Snickerdoodle (excellent!) All-in-all a very good experience and we will be back to try more.

I took one bite of the "Mac n cheese" and didn't enjoy it at all, asked if I could have another one made, they apparently don't do that even though I was willing and ready to give up my ordered item that only had a bite taken out of it. No refund, nothing else made, and $11 wasted. First time here and never returning.

I'm finally having a chance to review our visits to Freight House back in November!…read more My husband and I took a little trip to Paducah, and the main reason we chose this location for our vacation was Sara Bradley's restaurant Freight House. We both are fans of "Top Chef" and since her restaurant is within reasonable distance of home, we planned a trip around it. In fact, we made reservations for two nights in a row, to take in as much of the menu as possible! Between the two different days, we tried a number of appetizers, entrees and desserts. If I were to do this again the same way, I would do one day of apps and dessert and one day of entrees, just to spread things out a bit. What we ate: - Fall pickles: I enjoyed this, with the bit of chili heat, especially the cauliflower - Stuffed Mushrooms: I love mushrooms, and these blended creamy, sweet and hot with a filling of cream cheese, berry BBQ sauce and smoked jalapeno - Pistachio and herb chevre cheeseball: a fresh cheese enhanced by nutty and Herby notes - Smoked bologna: my husband's choice; very meaty and there was a lot of it - Spicy beer cheese spread: a very Midwestern feeling appetizer with tasty veggies and crackers Entrees: -Shrimp and grits: my choice: comforting southern food with lots of flavor - Duck fried rice: his choice: rich rice offset by more delicate vegetables - Sticky ribs: my choice: the pumpkin spice and coffee liqueur glaze worked well for a cozy, wintry meal - Braised pork shoulder: his choice; served with beans and cornbread, this was another hearty, comforting meal with a Southern twist. Desserts: - Winter creme brulee: this was my favorite, flavored with mulling spices, orange and pomegranate We also enjoyed a seasonal sorbet and the fall spice cake. We had the same server both nights, Elizabeth, who was good at making recommendations, and also staggering the small plates on our small table so we wouldn't be overloaded. Chef Sara was in house the second night, bringing dishes to tables. The setting is relaxed, not overly loud, with moody lighting. Overall, we would certainly return to Freight House!
