This is a great little place! I'm from out of town (actually from out of state). When traveling, I always like to try the local fare versus chain restaurants and this place did not disappoint! This is a baked potato place, hence the name "Prater's Taters," but they have sandwiches, salads and soups as well. They have Mr. & Mrs. Potato Heads all over the place, which is great. It looks like they sell them as well, and there is one on every table for folks to play with, which is genius! The potato I ordered was really good. It was pretty quiet and slow when I arrived, but by the time I was done with my food, lots of folks had trickled in. This place was super adorable, and had a ton of options for baked potatoes! I am definitely already plotting to go back and try another one. The outside does not stand out very well but once you get inside, it is a cute little restaurant. Our tables were clean and the soda station was very well stocked. Sometime you luck out and that's what happened here. I was meeting with friends at a local winery, but their dining room was closed. So looked at yelp and this place sounded intriguing plus a quick confirmation with staff at the winery's tasting room confirmed it was their local favorite too. I try and eat local food rather than go to a chain so that was a plus as well. Ok, so the name is probably a giveaway if you are from the south, but I did t realize till I got there and saw the massive menu spread across three boards that they specialize in baked potato with tons of toppings!!! I was not in the mood for a baked potato but the potato soup looked good and they were kind enough to make a vegetarian wrap for me with my choice of fittings. my total cost was under 10 bucks including tip. The potato soup was awesome in fact I could have eaten a whole bowl full of it just for lunch. The mushrooms and sauerkraut used in my wrap was also really really yummy. This was a really good meal and a surprising one to eat in a small town. I would totally recommend this place and totally go here again to check out other things on their menu. This is a must do each time visiting family. Trying to work through the menu, so far nothing has disappointed! The potato's are large and cooked perfectly and the range of toppings endless. Also has sandwiches, wraps and salad- haven't tried those yet. People behind counter are helpful and pleasant. Husband and I went in for some taters, they were out of sirloin. Cashier even took order for one. I ordered a sandwich and waited 15 minutes for it. There were four ladies there that work at Walmart and one lady never got her food. Cashier said they lost her ticket. They give you a number and the lady didn't get any food. The two boys who were working reminded me of Dumb and Dummer. Felt sorry for the lady. Also two people got their food before I got my sandwich. Pretty bad customer service!! read more

I wasn't too excited when my friends said we were meeting at a potato (tater) restaurant, but this place really exceeded my expectations. I got BBQ baked taters, expecting a baked potato with some BBQ fillings. Boy, was I surprised when a plate of opened baked potatoes arrived at my table, slathered in smack-yo-mamma good meat, cheese, sauce, and jalapenos. We'd arrived in a big group of 20 or so, unannounced, so the owner warned us that it might take a little longer to get all our food out. Partway through the wait, he stopped by the table to offer us some free cookies for the inconveniece. Great place, friendly folks, wonderful food. A great place to eat! Went in tonight and they were super sweet! Our order was quick and yummy! There was only 3 people there but they were all super nice and attentive. There's not many sit down restaurants in Paris but this one is excellent. I've only been a few times when food took more than about 5 or so minutes but when it did take longer, they were obviously busier. I was working in town and needed a quick place to go for lunch. I was worried that I would only be able to find a chain restaurant, so I was happy to find this. There was a line waiting to place orders but it moved fairly quickly and I was entertained by looking at all of the Mr. Potato Heads and hot sauces that lined the counter. The restaurant is obviously known for its baked potatoes of which there are a large number of options, but I ordered a chicken corn chowder soup. I thought it was very good. I also ordered some homemade cookies which were very good! Nice and chewy! I'll definitely eat there again when I'm back in town and look forward to trying other menu options. read more
