Stopped and got Breakfast for two, The Tenderloin Pack with eggs and cheese. Had so much seasoning on it that it was not edible. Also got a Pack with Ham, I was warned it was country ham and was usually to salty for some people. Well you got that right. You need to Boil your ham with a Can of Coke in the Solution to remove the excessive salt. Then slice and fry it if you want to. read more

There is no way the reviews for this place are credible and legitimate. This was absolutely the worst barbecue we have ever had. Hands-down, both of us agreed that it was just simply awful. First of all, this is the only barbecue place that has no smoke rings on any of their proteins. Neither the pulled pork nor the half chicken tasted like it was smoked on hardwood. It seemed like it was either microwaved or maybe baked in the oven, or perhaps a combination of both. Very little flavor, extremely dry, and an awful experience. On top of that, there is no way that potato salad and baked beans are homemade. If I was a betting man, I suspect that they simply just purchasing Reesers deli products and repackaged them into smaller containers. We should have taken the hint that on a Sunday afternoon, there was not a single person in the sitting area. Every table was empty, and now we understand why. I suspect, many years ago this place was substantially better. Currently quality is very poor, and the experience was subpar. read more

I have had the pleasure of visiting Trolinger's in Paris, TN on numerous occasions, and I must say that it always exceeds my expectations. From the moment I pulled into the parking lot the first time, I knew that this was going to be a special place. The gas station itself is fairly unassuming, with a large parking lot and a simple, straightforward design. But as soon as I walked through the doors, I was immediately struck by the size of the store. It was absolutely enormous, with rows and rows of shelves stocked full of all sorts of goods, from snacks and drinks to household supplies and even clothing. But what really set Trolinger's apart for me was the deli and smokehouse. The aroma of slow-smoked barbecue filled the air, and my mouth started watering as soon as I walked in. The selection of meats was impressive, with everything from pulled pork and ribs to brisket and chicken. And the sides were equally mouthwatering, with options like baked beans, coleslaw, and mac and cheese. But the real star of the show was the barbecue sauce. Made in-house with a vinegar base, it was unlike any barbecue sauce I had ever tasted. It had just the right balance of sweetness and tanginess, and the flavor really elevated the already delicious meats. I couldn't get enough of it, and I ended up bringing a bottle home with me. In addition to the barbecue, the deli also had a fantastic selection of sandwiches and other dishes. Holy pulled pork!!! On our way into Paris, we stopped here for a bite to eat, and I was not disappointed! We all ordered pulled pork sandwiches, and man, the pork was tender and flavorful. Instead of their house sauce which I thought was WAY too spicy for my taste, I asked for an alternative, and was secretly presented with sweet baby ray's. I couldn't have been happier with the person who prepared our sandwiches for that gesture!! All the staff I encountered were friendly and so welcoming. I am not reviewing the food served here, which is always good,but rather the meat sold by the store I have been buying my meat here for over 10 years, and have been pleased.lately though their beef has gone downhill. I purchased several loins of new York strip,and then a rib steak rack,and to my disappointment the meat was so bad my wife, and I had to wind up using it for stew meat,(as steak it was so tough,and full of gristle.)it was impossible to eat. read more

Don't let the exterior site of this gas station shaped like a barn fool you. This place houses a legit butcher shop inside and a solid selection of bbq rubs, sauces and groceries. I've been able to buy somewhat hard to find cuts of meat here and have never been disappointed with the quality. The staff is always friendly, the facility is clean, and the prices are not horrible. Trolinger's is not your usual place, but it's nice. It's a combination general store, convenience store, fuel stop, grocery store, butcher and BBQ joint. The butcher and BBQ are in the back of the store and there is usually a line waiting for service, even in the middle of the afternoon. The line goes quickly and there are several people back there to assist you. We like the few picnic tables out front to eat our BBQ if the weather is fair. This is also a place where you can actually spend some time just looking at things. You never know what will show up at Trolinger's for sale. Of course, there are other places similar to Trolinger's, but each of those places has its own personality and vibe. Trolinger's typically stays busy!!! read more

My husband actually brought me here on my first visit to Paris, we got a small family pack to go (comes with Cole slaw, baked beans, potato salad, pulled pork, buns, and their spicy BBQ sauce), and we had a cute little picnic underneath the Eiffel Tower! Still such a cute little idea, and such a quaint spot! It's like a little country grocery store meets a BBQ joint meets a gas station... Not much to look at from outside, looks like an old barn with gas pumps out front, but inside is cozy. Walk to the back and order the BBQ! On this most recent visit I wanted to bring some of Paris, TN, to my New Orleans family so I got a large family special (plenty of food for 5 people and $15.99), and picked up a half gallon of their BBQ sauce and some of their dry rib rub which they sell in the back! It's a phenomenal deal, and my New Orleans family loved how spicy their BBQ sauce was! The country store side of it sells a lot of local Paris and Tennessee products including sauces and marinades, and they have an excellent beer selection! read more

Are paper menu just too pricey to be available at other counter areas? Navigation of narrow isles crazy close. Does Paris have a fire Marshall? This looks to be a hazard to me. Caveat Emptor. So, Ok, Trollinger's has a lot going for it. I enjoy the BBCue and all in all it's a decent neighborhood meat market and deli. My wife and I eat there fairly often. However, I had a recent bad experience. let me elaborate. I wanted to buy two filets for a special occasion. The meat case shows a price of $15.99 per pound. Decent enough. Another sign says bacon-wrapped for $18.99 per pound. That's a bit hefty for a slice of bacon. it doesn't take rocket science to wrap the bacon, but I suppose you have to pay the man for his labor. At least I was fore-warned. Not wanting to do it myself by buying bacon on the side, I went for it. I asked that the filet be cut from near the center of the main piece, so as not to make them too small. The two filets came to a bit over a pound. When I received the wrapped meat, the price seemed too high. I asked how much it was per pound and the man said $24.99. He said the cuts near the center were extra. That got me thinking. So the prices change increntally getting cheaper the further the cut is from the middle of the whole tenderloin. Does that mean the $15.99 per pound consists of scraps? What if I had not asked for a cut near the middle? I felt like having the man let me know at what point price changes occur, and maybe cut something not that close to the middle. Maybe he could lay the slab out and show me how the prices changes per cut. I'm not saying it was as bad as a butcher that keeps his thumb on the scale, but the man could have said something when I ordered. I went ahead and bought what he gave me but I felt cheated. So here's my suggestion to Trollingers. How about adding "$15.99 a pound and up" to the posted prices, or for other variable meat prices add "starting at $xx.xx per pound"? I had planned on adding a couple of lobster tails as well, but at $58.99 per pound I passed. read more

We walked to the back of the store found the order here counter and I asked so how does the ordering go because they have a hot food case and I saw meals on yelp but I didn't see them there and the sweet helper said they had a plate for 5.99 I told my husband I'll have that and I'm going to use the restroom I'll be right back and I was quick but he was already sitting down with 2 giant plates of food, if your in the mood for home cooking top quality and quick this is the place to go I'd give it 6 stars if there was another one to highlight this gets best meal of the day award from me and my husband agrees!! read more

A follow-up to my first post/review. We enjoyed the bone-in Rib Eye for lunch today. OMG absolutely delicious. We shared a 1 1/2" cut for lunch. The flavor and tenderness equated to a Ruth's Chris steak, which would have definitely cost more than the $15 we paid. Only used salt and pepper to season, and grilled it. (Neighbors were envious of the delightful aroma). Only complaint was that it was a bit of a fatty cut of meat. We literally cut out a core of hard fat in the center prior to grilling (glad we did). Once again, wish we would have bought more - - will definitely be back. Still have the breakfast sausage and chuck roast to try. I'll keep y'all posted. I should have taken a picture. read more

Granted the meats good they will cut it to your liking. Meat pricing is fair however the butcher's are unsanitary they go from meat to chicken to touching the scales and counters. Customer to customer never washing there hands or wearing any gloves. Most people would be turn off by these practices read more

Sides are pretty good - beans are better than potato salad in my opinion by it's all good! And if you don't care for the BBQ plates, they can make a sandwich for you on the deli side! This place was welllllllll ehhh id say 2.5. You drive up to this huge truly huge barn looking building and like wow this it a big place then u go in it the reverse Tardis, the inside is super tight the only reason for this is that the back houses everything i guess a smoker and a processing section for the butcher part of the store witch that part looked great wish i had a cooler to tey some of their meat and products. Now the food first why would u serve burgers and fries on the week day along side your bbq but not on the weekend especially since your so close to the land between the lakes national park were family are visiting. Ok ok now for the food i had the ribs and pulled pork with bean potatoes salad and baked bean and had thier bbq sauce on the side. The sauce is really good when i put it on the ribs it was overwhelming mix a bit in with the pulled pork it worked good if they made different types of sauce use this as a base of the sauces it would be great like a sweet sauce and so on like i said the sauce they have works really good with the pulle pork but thats it. The side were basic sides seems to be premade stuff they were ok just simple and basic. Now the pulled pork was well ok like whitts bbq plan no flavor from a rub bbq but not like a whole hog bbq it was a moist but just a little no bark and no sigh of a smoke ring (witch would make since that there was no bark ) now the ribs once again no smoke ring (yeah if they do whole hog bbq there wouldnt be alot of bark or smoke ring) the rib was tender just not easy fall off the bone tender and like the pulled pork no flavor(even tho they sell there house rib rub) and was on the dry side so over all food was ok not a place id put on top of my list to go back to. Oh and when u look this place up you will see tons of pictures of trophies so your like yeah that have to be good right wellllllllll it would ve true if the trophies were bbq related witch most of them are not at all there some for softball and what not.
