When the food finally came out, sides were missing, food was prepared wrong, even had to remake a kids meal because it was made with garlic, which he's allergic to and specifically requested to not be made with it. The only saving grace is that the burgers and fries weren't that bad. I have never seen a dry prime rib, so that was new. We asked the busboy for plates so we can share appetizers but he said we had to get that from our server, who was nowhere in site for so long we had to walk around the restaurant to find her or the manager. If you're looking to eat ANYTHING other than a burger, save yourself money and a headache and go eat somewhere else. Very disappointed to see this establishment do a complete 180 under the new management.

They sure do feed you well too. The dishes they serve are hardy southern food and very filling. They will also bring out more items to feed you as you dine as well and you won't leave hungry. I thought the side dishes stole the show for me especially the rolls, fried okra and black eyed peas were some of the best I've ever had. Now I'll want to go back whenever I'm passing through that part of southeast Missouri. It's a really cool looking restaurant inside and out with lots of memorabilia on the walls especially all the license plate plates. I had the chicken fried steak that came with mashed potatoes right on top and white gravy and it was savory and very good. For the two sides with my main dish I ordered green beans and white beans. It was a heavy meal, but I managed to put away almost all of it along with scoops of extra okra, fried potatoes, tomatoes and pasta in a side dish, and black eyed peas. I could only manage to eat two of the famous big rolls and had one with a helping of sorghum syrup they put on it which I rarely ever see anymore. I grew up on this very kind of food with my southern parents cooking so this place really hit the spot and I felt nostalgic to me.

The burger was so bad I couldn't get past two bites, and I managed exactly two fries before giving up. They also got my order -- a simple one -- wrong. When the waitress asked how everything was, I told her honestly: awful. Her response was to remind me I'd still be paying for it, then hit me with "better luck next time." Hey, Home Plate. We had a party of four and was seated at a low top that had a view of the kitchen. Lively open space with an open kitchen you can see both the cook line and the prep area. The cornbread was the unexpected standout of the entire meal. Mildly sweet, savory, light and fluffy all the way through. I was not expecting a side dish to steal the show, but it did. We also ordered the double stuffed burrata, and the bread it came with deserves its own mention. Crisp, lightly toasted, with just a touch of char. It paired beautifully with the creamy burrata and the accompaniments on the plate. For my entree I went with the grilled Caesar salad and added shrimp. It ended up being the perfect call. The portion was generous, the shrimp addition made it feel like a real meal. The romaine had this excellent crisp char on it that added so much. The dressing was heavenly. One of the best Caesar dressings I have had in a while. My favorite parts of the night had nothing to do with what was on my plate. We got to watch chef Sara Bradley working the kitchen with her team during service, and it was clear why this place has the reputation it does. I'd love to come back and try the prix fixe tasting menu next time. Overall this was a great experience from start to finish. And a must stop or destination when driving through KY.
