My husband and I ate at the Hearth Restaurant in Martin, TN this past Friday night April 24, 2026. It was the seafood buffet and it was delicious. First time we'd been there in a while, but we'll be back. Service was good and it was clean. My only complaint was that the ice had melted in the pre peeled shrimp, and while they were still firm, would have been better if they'd poured the water out and added ice back. read more

This is a great Family Restaurant, with a generous sized Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner buffet, that's never disappointed. I regularly go when I'm in town visiting family, and the prices are very fair, and it's got ample parking. The service is friendly, and the ambiance is an older restaurant, with time worn benches and worn formica tables, but it's clean and has many many locals, which is ALWAYS a good sign. 5/5 stars. read more

Placed a simple order Saturday morning of pancakes/bacon and a side over easy egg, called the order in was to be ready in 10-15. Got there waited and waited so I asked about my order and was told they're getting it ready now, mind you I had been there 20 minutes already,I'm a very patient person but 40 minutes... Got my order home, burnt pancakes, no syrup or butter and egg was barely cooked. Needless to say I will NEVER spend another penny at THE HEARTH, absolutely horrible. read more

Okay. Here we go. As you guys know with every review I always write the truth. So I went to the hearth when my aunt and uncle were visiting. They wanted a buffet and the hearth was plan B after old west but their buffet was currently closed since it was a weekday and dinner time. So we went to the hearth. I got something that I thought was country fried because of the breading but I couldn't tell if it was chicken or pork until after I asked the waitress. The food was okay I mean I've had better but you also shouldn't have to ask a worker to refill something you want. They should be able to see its almost empty or empty and refill it without being asked. In my opinion it wasn't worth the money I spent. read more

Morning meal during rodeo weekend. Service was slow, had multiple servers, buffet was 11.99 with barely anything in the buffet. Though the Salad bar had more selection than the breakfast- kinda odd. Waited about 10 mins to order drinks and took about an hour to get our food. My gf ordered meat sandwich with hash browns, she got a bun with ham slice and lettuce. She rates it 2/10, not worth the price. I ordered the sizzling flapjacks French toast, the ham was good and egg was good, average French toast, rate 5/10. Only 2 stars because sometimes they are open and most times they are not. Isn't what it used to be. Most stuff seems like it comes right off the Sysco truck, opened with a can opener, and served. Just a cute, quaint little country buffet with a wide selection of salad toppings and some home cooked country food. It's definitely an after-church pit stop or the closest thing to a Cracker Barrel-but better! Everything I ate, from the salad, fried catfish, white beans, dressing & mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and everything else I stuck on my two plates was good, hot, fresh, and flavorful. I didn't try the fried chicken, but my niece didn't care too much for it, but the catfish and white beans were great! I've eaten here hundreds of times over the years. Unfortunately the hearth's food quality has steadily and rapidly declined over the last five years. The food quality has now gotten so bad and their prices have gone so high that I will no longer eat there until there is some kind of major change. The hearth is basically a buffet restaurant even though they have a full menu, very few people order from it because the items are basically made from frozen low grade food and are always way overpriced. Their current "special" is a 8oz. HB steak priced at $9.99. That's a special? Recently I went there to give it one last chance. As i entered the staff was friendly and very quick to take care of me, as a matter of fact, everyone was rushing around so quickly it seemed as though all the employees were on some kind of stimulant. I was here for lunch and in a hurry so I guess I really didn't mind this "fast forward" kind of service. Since I knew I didn't have a lot of time I choose the buffet. Now I've eaten some bland food before but this was the worst tasting buffet I've experienced. There were chicken and dumplins that looked like someone had opened a can, dumped the contents and stirred them for days. The pieces of dumplins were broken up to the size of a dime and they were bland and mushy tasting to the point were I was sure they had been on that buffet for days.TERRIBLE! There was also some Nasty looking red substance that resembled spaghetti except the noodles were also mushy looking and broken into one inch pieces. I didn't dare taste it so you never know it might have been delicious,then again the moon might be cheese. The next thing I noticed was a big platter placed at the end of the bar. It was overflowing with some kind of brown goo. UGH! Disgusting. I asked a passing waitress what it was and she replied "I'm not sure" There were several other food items all equally disgusting. If you want good food at a good price...The rule of thumb is look for a place with cop cars or old folks walking in... that's what I did last night when I decided to try the Hearth Restaurant...I turned into the parking lot and patiently waited behind an older couple while they decided where to park their car...I went in expecting just an old...forever been there...family restaurant with a hand made menu. Forever been there might be the case...but I was really impressed. There was a full menu with everything from grilled cheese to steaks. Any price selection you would want to pay for specials ...including the amazing food bar! I could order off the menu...choose from five specials (4.99 to 6.99) or get the soup and salad bar (6.99)...or...the full food bar for only 8.49. I chose the later. I was there at the right time...4:30 pm...right after the bar was fully stocked...crisp...fresh iceberg lettuce with all the additions...a choice of several side salads and more than enough dessert "fluff" types. The homemade beef vegetable soup was a pleasant surprise from the "canned" stuff. The homemade chili was chocked full of meat. Swiss Steak smothered in gravy and baked chicken were the main meats. Deep fried shrimp...fried okra...french fries...mashed potatoes...green beans...butter beans...black eyed peas...white beans...chicken and dumplings...all great flavorful scoops of goodness. Homemade apple crisp...strawberry short cake...dark chocolate cake with dark chocolate icing complimented the soft served ice cream. The food was constantly being refilled...not when it was empty...when it was down to half ...more came. The waitress was attentive...very friendly and I noticed that everyone seemed to be regulars because the waitresses knew their names. Solid place in Martin, TN. Been here twice so far while in town for work, it's a pretty big place, lots of seating, seems popular with the locals. It's also where I learned that people here love to call each other "Bubba." They usually have some type of salad bar/buffet, plus full menu, friendly staff. I've had the burger and chicken breast w/ potato, they also have sides of cornbread, etc. The food has alwas been good, solid small town country fare, plus they have those tasty little pickled okra things that seem to be a staple on every salad bar down here. I can't say enough good things about this sweet little mom-and-pop restaurant. You can tell when you walk in that all the regulars from town eat here. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all with a fantastic salad bar / Buffet, and full menu including favorites like sandwiches, steaks, soups, and salads, there's something for everyone at this place. Worst service we have ever seen in a restaurant. Nobody acknowledged we were there so we grabbed menus our self. Still nothing so we just got up and started eating from the food bar ( We wanted to order off the menu). Still nothing. Had to flag someone down to ask for a drink. Watched a waitress take the money off another table but leave the mess. Saw another look for money on the table and leave the mess and go tidy up another table nobody had been sitting at. Saw another say there is no money on that table. Went to the register to pay because no one ever brought us a ticket. Didn't leave a dime for a tip. Food was mediocre at best. We were there on 6/13/19 for lunch.just so the owner or Mgr. can see who was on duty. We have never seen anyone care less for their job ever No wonder they had a help wanted sign posted.
