History
Established in 1980.
First-generation farmers, Ivan and Evelyn Hubbell, purchased their first cherry farm, Cherry Acres, in Williamsburg, MI, in the 1940s. They ran a farm market on US 31, selling homemade cherry pies, fresh cherries, and apples, which they delivered to Detroit. Their son, Keith Hubbell, and his wife Rosanne, second-generation farmers, bought their first cherry farm in 1965 and named it Orchard View Farms.
Third-generation farmers, Chris and Janet Hubbell, purchased their farm in the 1980s, which they currently own. Their two sons began working on the farm at age 10. The farm grows sweet and tart cherries, apples, plums, pears, and peaches. Chris and Brandon also run a welding and truck repair shop, serving local farmers.
The farm operates a cherry receiving station to support nearby farms. Fourth-generation farmer, Brandon Hubbell, and his wife Beth partnered with Chris and Janet in 2009. Their fifth-generation children are already helping at ages 10, 8, and 2.
