Our group had not been to Two Lads in a few years, the first visit I believe they were fairly new, was just okay. The winery, the furthest north on mission, has developed since. The tasting room is modern, the wall behind the bar glass, giving a great view. There in minimal outdoor space, a few chairs overlooking the bay. Our group of six was mixed on the wines, though we were each able to find something we liked. They also have wine cocktails, non alcoholic options, and some pairing or appetizers. The service was excellent and made our visit better. We also times it well as it was not overly busy, as there was no reservation, and we were able to get a table. read more

We passed this place and thought it would be a great stop- and we were right! The walking tasting tour was unique and so much fun. The wine was delicious, the view incredible & team members incredible. Would love to come back! *only* interesting thing was the random cash tip jars at the walking tasting stations... the first area where you pay for tasting asks for one on the credit card machine so I tipped there... but then there was cash jars along the way. I don't like to feel cheap, so the multiple places to tip were a little off putting. Would still totally go back though- the ambiance and team were fantastic! read more

Gorgeous view, possibly the best view of all the wineries on the peninsula as you have an open panorama overlook of the Coast. You can take advantage of the view sitting in the Adirondack chairs, while sipping your wine. Tasting room staff were very attentive and personable. Offered not only information on the wine, but the history of the winery and why it is named Two Lads. Wine was good and enjoyed with savory Shorties Shortbread Crackers, a must when you are visiting Traverse City. Small gift shop in the back. Will definitely return and recommend. read more

I spent a majority of my life in Las Vegas and California, and I had a palate for Napa wines, and I will say they are some of the best. But, I can also say that Michigan wines are much different, due to weather,location, and they are very unique and delicious in their own way. In the 3 years I've lived here I have joined many wine clubs, and this one happens to be one of my favorite. Their location is absolutely beautiful. Beautiful interior, and lovely view overlooking the lake on a hill. The service was just the best. I ordered the vault flight, but I had already tasted most of the wines from the wine club. I asked the server if they had some wine that was no longer on their menu. They had a few extra bottles that they had in the back. I wound up buying them all to take home. My favorite is their roses. Every palate is different so going into what I think about each wine is irrelevant, but I will say that after being in the wine community and studying it in college that they have a quality product. Love it or hate it, but please don't compare it to Napa. It's not Napa, and it never will be. It's the UP, and it is unique and delicious. Higher acidity, less tannins, very crisp, more residual sugars, and tend to focus on roses, whites, and medium body red blends. Can't wait to go back and drink the wine with that view again. Overall, it was the highlight of our trip. Got to experience more than just the wine from the comfort of my couch. Was able to be engulfed in an aesthetically pleasing experience with superb customer service. read more

This was my second time visiting. The view is breathtaking. The wine was ok. Our service was lacking. Will I go back? Possibly, but most likely not. We hadn't visited Two Lads in probably 15 years, so we decided to check them out. It's been so long that they were in a different building, with the dogs running around so we were quite surprised to see their new (to us) tasting room. Perched on a hillside, some Adirondack chairs for sitting outside & sipping your wine. We were greeted by a very true& welcoming woman, who told us that you could either order a tasting flight, or a glass, and to tell them if you would have it inside or out, as that affects how it is served (they use an easier to carry board with a flight for outside). I got the rose flight, husband got the reds. We sat inside, as there weren't a couple chairs available outside at that particular moment. I really liked their sparkling rose, which had a brighter pink color, notes of strawberry, but wasn't a fan of the other two. Husband enjoyed the reds, but the Pinot Noir was made from California grapes, it was ok, he thought the Cab Franc was surprisingly good, the Merlot was enjoyable too. We only bought the sparkling rose. Staff was very nice & did a great job. The outside area very nice but not quite big enough for the amount of people when we got there. We came here on a girls weekend, and it was our first stop of our tour of many wineries! We were immediately greeted by a very rude hostess, who demanded that we have our ID's in hand before we even made our way over to the bar. We each then ordered a glass of wine to bring outside while we waited for our table. Apparently there were 2 doors to exit the venue to wait outside which we were never made aware of. We were then yelled at by the hostess to ensure we exited through the correct door. Regardless, we waited for our table and were then seated. We were seated at a larger table with 2 empty seats at the end. They sat an older couple next to us about 10 minutes afterwards. Our server took her sweet time with the other couple elaborating on each and every wine on the menu and the venue overall. Finally we were greeted by the same server with the exact phrase of "do you guys need anything?". Overall I would not recommend this winery. It ruined the start of our day though we were recommended to come here by many! Not sure if they are against a young group of cute girls or what the issue was, but we will not be returning! Typically we are big tippers, but due to the fact that we were treated as children and as outsiders- we were forced to tip small. read more

I am 50/50 on this winery. They had good rieslings (for my MIL), but I wasn't a huge fan of their reds (for hubby & I). They also had great views, but ruined them with 1) no tables outside that you could sit with a flight, only single chairs, and 2) the best place to take a picture had an ugly building and bus in the frame, and you couldn't bring your wine to that area. And this was summertime, so everyone would probably like to be outside. It really seems like they don't care about the outside experience for their customers, so because of the reds and the indifference for the outdoor experience I had to give them only 3 stars. read more

Nice views & all of the wines were delicious! We did 2 flights & bought a bottle. I'm not a dry wine person & even I liked their drier varieties. All of the wines were clean & crisp, no burning sensation ("church wine") issues. And they provided mixed nuts with your flights to cleanse your palette. Flights are a little pricy (3 tastings for $18), but worth it. We had Terri as our server & she was great! Very knowledgeable and nice. read more

We started out at the northern-most winery on the peninsula, and then worked our way down. The views from this place were INSANELY gorgeous! I just wish we had been able to see them from where we were sitting. We didn't have a reservation but they were still able to seat us fairly quickly. We were off kind of in a back room though; in order to see outside we had to stand on tiptoe and peer through the teeny window. Our wine flights were good, and our server was very knowledgeable about all of them, which I definitely appreciated!! read more

We visited Two Lads for a wine club member tour and tasting. It was led by the lovely Emily, who was delightful and a true gem to the earth. She answered our silly questions with kindness and grace, a la, yes and no. While the wine was great, we especially enjoyed her company and educational conversation. A very aesthetically pleasing winery and wine-tasting experience. The wine was extremely tasty and view of the water from the top of the hill was gorgeous! The only thing that lack was the lack of shade and the steepness of the hill. We sat outside due to the inside being full and there was no shade to sit in. Not a big deal, but definitely had us question whether we would stay and taste or just leave to go to another option nearby. We ended up staying and enjoying our experience. I would warn anyone trying to do a tasting flight outside to have someone help you to your seat as the nice Adirondack chairs are placed on a steep hill. Gorgeous view and gorgeous wine. read more

I've been to a few wineries in the peninsula, and the modern feel of Two Lads does help it stand out for the rest. The experience wasn't necessarily what I expected, but I'm chalking that's up to COVID more than anything else. The view is beautiful though I wish that had an outdoor patio so you could enjoy it more! Wines were tasty and the charcuterie board was devoured in minutes (maybe not the best idea for us to go on an empty stomach...) Friendly, knowledgeable staff- they seem to be taking their COVID precautions seriously as well. A unique place to add to your winery tour list if you want something that strays a bit from tradition is look and feel. read more

Located on the Old Mission Pointe Peninsula, Two Lads offers breathtaking views with beautiful, crisp wines - even in the wintery months. The table center pieces from the 51 year old jade plant offsets the modern design and decor of the tasting room. Even without a reservation, we were warmly welcomed and seated promptly, however, we would recommend reservations. The staff has noticed an uptick in visitors, especially on weekends, even during the offseason. We highly recommend the dry, white 2L Riesling. read more

I never even got to try this place unfortunately and i will never be going back. My mom told me the wine here was great but I walked in and was only greeted with rude comments. Since I had never been here before I walked in, masked, and asked about the procedure, most wineries here you are able to get a glass of wine and hang out on the grass, sip your wine, buss your own table and head out. I walked in and said "hi, I've never been here before so i was wondering what the procedure is, am i able to grab a glass at the bar and head outside or do I need to wait for a table?" I was greeted with "well do you have a liquor license?" What? "...no?" Literally NO need to be rude. I have never been to this winery before and most of the wineries in the area you are able to drink outside. Honestly it was one EXTREMELY rude woman that worked there, a slim, blonde dyed haired woman. I'm SORRY but I have never been here before and I was asking you a question because I was excited to come to your winery. Unfortunately this negative situation on my sensitive soul brought me to tears and I will never come back here and will recommend that my friends never come to this winery because I will never forget this negative experience. There were three bartenders 2 women and 1 man) and the guy did all of the work which caused needless lines and needless time wasted for us to continue our travels. The Riesling from Fouch Vineyard was tough to swallow-2011 Chardy-Pinot Grigio-Cab Franc all were way to young, bitter and bright. read more
