She even helped switch out the kids meal because our daughter did not like the spaghetti. My husband was a HUGE fan of the boneless wings and noted that the flavor lingers deliciously on your palate. You walk in to see a counter with seating for four people, high back, swivel chairs. There's a…read morediner menu letter board up on the wall, yellow with age, announcing the flavors of milkshakes and ice cream. It's from the 60s and probably hasn't changed since they put it up 65 years ago. There's a whiteboard on the back wall with the special for the day written out. Bacon egg and cheese omelette or a sausage egg and cheese sandwich on toast. Five dollars. The kind of place with a few locals sitting at a booth having their morning coffee, one of the waitresses offering Jim the last donut because they know he will want it. He accepts it. This is, in my mind, a classic American small town diner. The kind of place I grew up, eating in my hometown of 500 people. It's not high cuisine, there's nothing fancy about the food although I did come across a few things I had never seen before on the menu. Fried mush. Meat grits specials, like the scuttle butt and the chili Bob. An age old, but perfected recipe of eggs, meat, cheese, and a starch either potatoes ( homefries) or toast. The coffee is weak and not much flavor to it but, to be honest, it's exactly what you would expect in a place like this and there's something comforting about that. Honest, simple food made day and a day out, catering to the local crowd and a few roadway, travelers like myself who happen to come across it. There's a certain charm and depth to places like this that have been lived in day and day out by the same people for decades. For those like up rounded, there's the nostalgia and connection to the many other people having the same experience day after day in communities across the United States. Forgive me if I wax nostalgia can get a little sentimental here, but this morning's dining experience definitely elicited that for me. I hope you can find your own version of this sometime today or in the near future.

They would bring the fries directly from the fryer, the malts were twisted way above the rim of the glass and the burgers were never disappointing. Prices creeped up but still worth their satisfying meal But lately, the hamburgers are cooked and sitting in the side of the grill in preparation of the rush hour and possible stragglers. They are dried out, cold and tasteless. The malts barely top the rim but the fries are still hot. I'm willing to wait for a freshly cooked hot tasty burger even if the price inched up. But when we are talking about going to the Kewpee for lunch, it's a flat no from me now. Allentown Kewpee does the same. Very disappointed. (2026)

An interesting place, and they are putting together great food and it has 15 beers on tap! I had the Freight Train grilled chicken sandwich. The people working there have never been served by Trump or the right wing agenda, and no one else appeared to be watching the those tvs. It makes no sense why they would have Fox News up anywhere in their establishment. Our server was nice, yet even though the bar was less than 25% capacity, it took 15 minutes to get an overpriced Old Fashioned which was not made correctly. It was far too sweet, had some sort of 7up-like soda in it, and we couldn't even taste any rye bourbon in them. There was too much ice in the glass and the cherries were the cheapest of the cheap. None of the other drinks available looked enticing, especially after that drink. The fried pickles were delicious and I also ordered a PBJ burger. The burger was well done even though I asked for medium rare. The overall taste was very yummy only because there was so much jelly and oily peanut butter to assist the dry overdone burger. The sidewinders were well flavored but could have been double fried to be slightly crispier. Partner also ordered a burger and typically prefers medium well done. Even they thought their burger was too overdone and dry. The floors were sticky and the place smelled like pinesol which was distracting from the food. Even though it smelled like cleaning products, the place felt dirty and sticky, not somewhere I would like to eat. I appreciate the divey, live music in the corner sports bar vibe, but the management and organization seemed off here, like a weird awkward silence. I wouldn't come back unless they make their drink game more professional, there was a very good special on beers, or a particular band I would enjoy seeing here.
