Wow! I had read the reviews on yelp, but then a coworker heard I was in North Platte. She texted…read moreme that I had to go to the Cedar room! I am glad I listened! I came in, took a spot at the bar. I had great service and great conversation with the bartenders and the other patrons. The decor is very stylish with lots of cedar! They had an amazing bourbon selection. It was great to try something rare and expensive! The food was the star of an already great experience! I started with the cowboy caviar. ( country fried steak bites with gravy). They were great. Then I got the ribeye with a side salad. The salad was huge with great toppings. The steak was phenomenal! One of the top 3 ever! Super tender and flavorful. An amazing meal at a great restaurant! Do not pass this one up!

We were driving across country and decided to pull over in North Platte for the evening. I looked…read morefor a restaurant recommendation and found The Cedar Room. We walked in and there are two large rooms, one dining and one bar/dining area. There is a small bar at the far end that sits around 6 or seven people. We were sat near the window and our server was Penny who was excellent. Penny constantly checked in with us and we were never left wait for service. When it came to ordering wine/cocktails, we were immediately put off by the price of wine. The bottles have an approximate 75% mark up on retail. Way overpriced. You don't see these prices even in the most expensive of steakhouses in my opinion. A glass of wine was the price of a bottle at retail. We elected to go with cocktails. For appetizers, we ordered the Wild Mushroom Brie & Ciabatta. $19 Seared Brie Cheese, brandy glazed belle mushrooms, balsamic reduction, fig chutney; served with Ciabatta toast points. This was good. Cowboy Calamari. $19 Breaded Flat iron sirloin steak bites, fried; served with gravy. I was so looking forward to these but I couldn't even taste the meat.....at all! They were so overly breaded and the steak cut so thin that we felt we were just eating the breading. The gravy was tasty but we couldn't finish the steak bites as we just didn't taste any steak. We split a Cedar Room Wedge. $16 Iceberg, bacon bits, tomatoes, cucumbers, blue cheese crumbles; served with dressing of choice. They split it on two plates and basically did a deconstructed salad. It was fine. After not having a great experience with the food and prices of their wine, we elected to leave and skip the dinner. Although we loved our server Penny and it was a cute establishment, we probably would not return.

Or the other product. Or the other. Not a big deal. Waiting that time however was a strike (no pun intended) against our allotted bowling time. I've never been cut off in the middle of a game when I'm in the eighth frame like that. Sucks. I'm happy to pay for food and drinks and bowling but come on. Let's scarf our wholly mediocre ass pizza and play arcade games and have the kids enjoy themselves. Most arcade games were closed. Tried to play air hockey and the puck got eaten twice. I'm no big shot but I don't have a lot of time or money to waste. Somehow I'm stuck with these player cards that I won't use again. I have these memories of not being able to finish a single damn game of bowling. Worst of all, because I'm too stubborn for a total loss, I'm stuck with these boxes of barely edible pizzas that cost us our round of bowling. I'm hoping to get piss drunk tonight in order to forget this experience and be hung over enough to enjoy this dumpster pizza. Update: Just tried to email the place. None of the emails work and come as a delivery system failure.

    * Vintage vibe, decent steak, but pricey + stomach issues*…read more Stopped at Ole' S Big Game Steakhouse in Paxton because my brother said Nebraska does steaks right. The place definitely has character - it's vintage with taxidermy everywhere. Polar bear, giraffe, bull, deer heads on the walls. Feels like you're eating in a hunting lodge. *Food*: I ordered the boneless ribeye, medium rare. It was an average steak - easy to chew, but had more fat than I'm used to and the flavor was nothing special. Didn't dislike it, but wouldn't call it memorable. My daughter got the steak sandwich and my wife got the steak burger. We all agreed the food was delicious at the time. *The catch*: A few hours later my wife and daughter both had upset stomachs. I just felt bloated. My son was fine. Could've been a one-off, but worth mentioning. *Price/Service*: Restaurant itself is pricey. Menu items are fair, but the steaks are expensive for what you get. Service was fair - nothing bad, nothing great. If you're passing through I-80 in Paxton and want the experience/vibe, it's a stop. If you're driving out of your way for "best steak in Nebraska", I'd keep going. The taxidermy is the main attraction.

A large event space sits just off of the tasting room, and would be a lovely setting for a wedding reception - the windows face out to their vineyard! There is also a gazebo north of the building, I assume for outdoor weddings when the weather permits it. Is it ultra-luxurious? Well, no...but it doesn't have to be out here. It's modern and clean, and an oasis in an area that is grossly underserved in the craft beer and wine market. I applaud them for trying to bring something different to the community and surrounding areas! We tried a flight of their beers, and a selection of their wines. While none of their beers were home runs for me, I'd definitely go back to see what else they come up with. The Oktoberfest Märzen was probably my favorite. Their wine on the other hand? Terrific! Whites and reds with a variety of flavor profiles, there is sure to be one that you'll like...unless you're a total snob about your wine or grape varietals :) Cheers to Broken Arrow and Hanging Horseshoe. We will definitely be back!

It was late, I…read morewas exhausted and hungry, and it was the only place open and it shared a parking lot with my hotel. I ordered a steak and I cannot state this emphatically enough, this was BY FAR THE WORST STEAK I had ever had in my life, by a mile. It was like trying to cut through a deflated football, but somehow, still raw in the middle. Not undercooked, raw. Anyway, I ate my sides and moved everything around the plate and when my server came back to drop the check, she told me that "she liked my style". So FIVE STARS!

Listen I love Applebees just as much as any other warm blooded American but, this one was a flop…read more I like to try a new place every time I come to north platte since there is so many. So when my girlfriend said Applebees I thought wow I get some nostalgia from Father's Day with my dad as a kid. Let's just say the service is not what it used to be. The parking lot only had a few cars I figured get in eat get out. Apparently our hostess had a different idea. We walked in to a full waiting area and 3 families at tables. In the entire restaurant. 5 minutes goes by of this hostess fumbling her words walking around doing nothing. The family ahead of us gets seated. 5 people. They all got drinks from a waitress while we stood there. At this point there is me, my girlfriend and her 1 year old son with us, and an elderly lady by herself. We are looking at people eating in an empty restaurant and waiting for no reason. Finally she comes back after around 10 more minutes. With a bundle of napkins. Proceeds to open the package, and put them all in her work station. While telling us about it. I for one do not fucking care. I'm looking at an empty restaurant and standing here holding a kid. When she was done she says " I'll be right back I need to go clean these tables" I then asked her what was wrong with all the clean empty tables. Fumbles with her words I shook my head she walked away. I'm not sure what she did for another 5 minutes but I'm sure she didn't clean a table. They were all tipped up. Now we finally get to go sit. She asks if we want a high chair for the little kid. Yes thanks. Never brings it. Moving on I guess whatever Our waitress was very nice. The food was very mediocre at best not a shining moment. I'm not sure who makes the drinks in this place but they need a lesson. Worst margaritas I've ever had. North platte Applebees sucks don't go here
