THE WORST BUILDING CONTRACTOR WITH FULL OF DISHONESTY.
If you don't want to deal with the headaches and frustrations, stay clear from Mr. Tri & HT Constructions. His license (#580511) should be revoked after all the issues that we had with his work. I originally didn't want to write this review as I am a busy person. But we have had it enough with his lies and denials. We hired Mr. Tri for a room addition, concrete work for walkway, laundry room addition, and copper pipes plumping. I will try to be detailed with all the issues that I have with Mr. Tri so that no one will experience the same issues with him.
AS A PERSON & WORK ETHICS:
1) False advertising. He constantly advertised & bragged about doing construction works for Will Smith & Lady Gaga. At first, I thought it was amusing. But it became more of an annoyance when he kept bragging about it when the quality of his work and customer service are subpar. Why would a famous, celebrity would hire Mr. Tri? It's false advertising.
2) He always says that he stands behind his work. But he will be quick to blame his employee or something else when things go wrong. He doesn't take responsibility so that he won't have to fix the issue.
3) He will say that money is no subject, but he will ask money before the payments are due and work is done. He put us in an uncomfortable spot.
4) He will not be the one doing the work. He will be the one pointing the fingers. Don't expect that he will be doing any construction. He's not fit for that. He had Mr. Dung, his employee, doing all the work.
5) He said he has been doing this over 30 years and his license # is one of the earliest license number. Yet, he has only 5 reviews on Yelp. I believe all those reviews are fake with no photos of before & after. His sample photos look like he stole from someone else.
6) He will always be late. Sometimes, he doesn't show up due to fishing.
AS QUALITY OF WORK OR CRAFTSMANSHIP:
1) The concrete walkway on the side of the house he did was horrible. There are cracks and big 2"+ gaps within just a few months. With concrete, if you don't you use enough rebars, high PSI & cure the cement right, it will have lots of cracks & big gaps. Please see photos. He blames it on the shifting of our house and land. How is our house has anything to do with the walkway? The land & earth moves the same way for anyone. Our neighbors' walkway seems to be fine. Look it up Odell Concrete. They sure know how to do it right.
2) He said that he would soundproof the wall of new room. But he didn't. I had to do research and tell him what needed to be done.
3) When he installed the tankless heater in the laundry room, he didn't install it correctly. It was a brand new unit, and he blamed that it's defective. I had to call customer service and send them the photos, they were able to spot the problem right away. It was because he forgot to add the drainage for the condensation. The tank got clogged, so it couldn't make hot water. I had to figure out the problem myself. With him, he would look for something to blame instead of examining and figuring out the problem. His methods are old school and obsolete. He didn't plan everything first before putting the washer and dryer inside the laundry room. All the running of the pipes and drainage look after-thought.
4) The copper plumbing that they installed for our house was a major headache. The hot water pipe bursted and spilled hot water everywhere underneath our crawlspace, damaging the wood floor underneath our bathroom. After they did the copper plumping, we noticed a hissing sound like something is leaking. I notified him, and his response was it's something else or the house itself. He didn't want to inspect it right away. Then weeks later, the water pipe bursted. Hot steam was coming up from the floor. Wood expands when there's moisture/water. We couldn't open our door all the way because the floor swelled up. The all the tiles on the floors started to come loose and steam underneath the bathroom was coming out thru the crawspace vents. I called him and he finally came over to inspect. But his first response was like he's doing me a favor and the problem was not caused from his work. He inspected the problem and came out in our backyard screaming on the phone with Mr. Dung, saying that because Mr. Dung didn't solder the pipes correctly the pipe broke. Little that he knew that I overheard the whole conversation and I recorded it. Knowing that he may try to deny it, I had it recorded on my phone. Denied it he did. He had another guy to repair the pipe leakage/burst. But still denying that it was from the work done by his employee. The damage was already done. We got a water & gas bills that are over $1000. Now we have to get our entire bathroom floor repair.
