I have been seeing Dr. Hsieh for about a 1-2 years. I am a type 1 1/2 Diabetic (My pancreas is not producing enough insulin) She is WONDERFUL, takes her time, listens, gives great advice. I saw Dr Hsieh several weeks ago. I am Type ll Diabetic. I was surprised how she bad mouthed my previous Endocrinologist. I now have a managed care Ins. she was referred by my PCP. She was not happy with the Insulin I was on and said no one takes that anymore. I explained How I had a very back reaction to Metformin the oral med I was on. Stooling up to 15 x/day. She ordered me Invokamet Bid. She was going to start me on samples, which she forgot to give me. I had to wait for my Insurance to pre-auth this med, my co-pay was $161. I picked up my medication only to find Invokamet is Metformin and a drug called canagliflozin mixed with. I started taking just Before supper. Severe stooling occurred. What ever happened to the Hippocrates Oath of Do No Harm?. I have informed my PCP that I will not be going back to see this D.O.. read more

If there was a minus star I would give it to her! Now that I see all the reviews they are correct. She does nothing no exam NOTHNG she has her PA come in who was very pleasant asked lots of questions examined me and was very interested in everything I had to say. Then she came back in with the Dr. if we call her that as she stood 4 feet away from me and NEVER examined me only to say the labs look ok and come back in 6 months. When I asked her about her diet medical plan she had which was in the room that I was in she was not interested in talking about that to me. Because of my thyroid condition, I went to Dr Hsieh for a second opinion. Contrary to my PCP, she was against surgery and I am so thankful for that. I just spoke with the rudest secretary I have ever spoken with. I have Blue Shield PPO and wanted to make an appt. She informed me that I had to send blood work from my physician first,which I told her I would rather not do because it was out of date. I waited two months to get an appointment and my visit felt rushed. Dr. Hsieh seems really confident so you wouldn't question her especially with her teaching background right? I have been seeing Dr. Hsieh for about 6 years, and I am really surprised by some of the reviews on this site. I always come in with lots of questions, and she always answers all of the questions and helps me formulate a strategy for my self care before she leaves. She really knows a lot about insulin pumps (not all endocrinologists do!). She always takes as much time with me as I need. BTW, I have seen Dr. Hsieh at least 10 times, and I have never been foisted off on a PA. In fact I have never seen a PA in her office. Great Doctor. Spare yourself and DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! Dr. Hsieh and her staff are so unprofessional, it almost hurts. Her receptionists are beyond rude and unhelpful. If you want answers about finding a solution to your health you definitely won't find it here. I've been struggling with PCOS and my weight for almost 5 years now. I knew something was wrong and my GYN recommended I see an endocrinologist to find out how I could alleviate my weight gain and find answers. In order for me to even be considered a patient of Dr. Hsieh I had to do 7 blood tests... and once completed it took me about 3 months to get an appointment. After meeting with her twice she told me she needed more blood work for me to continue. The last time I saw her we took my blood in office and she told me the only way to lose weight was to go to a dietitian she's connected with and work on my diet. Funny thing is I've been working with a dietitian for the last 2 years and am already on an extremely strict diet. The reason I went to her in the first place was because I was dieting and exercising but not losing a single pound. I'd hit my plateau. A week passes by and I get a phone call that all of my blood results looked perfect. I requested to see my results 3 TIMES and they wouldn't send them!!!!! Something seemed off. I'm convinced she's an absolute scam and only uses her patients and in house lab work for payment. She doesn't care about you and she surely doesn't want to help you. Anyways,I took finding a solution into my own hands. I did research about PCOS for about a month and joined a support group and learned Dr Hsieh knows almost nothing about this chronic illness. Depressing really because endocrinology and PCOS are very well connected. Fast forward to about a month after, I came across a doctor on yelp named Dr Carolyn Alexander in Beverly Hills who is well known for helping people with their PCOS. She had me do similar labs as Dr Hsieh and my results were FAR from perfect. I found out I have Hypothyroidism AND insulin resistance. Silly how 2 months ago everything was perfect and now everything is magically drastically different... I feel so lied to. The moral of the story is to avoid Dr Hsieh as much as possible. And if you're a woman who wants answers about your PCOS go see Dr Alexander in Beverly Hills. Dr. Alexander is seriously one of the best doctors I've ever met. She will listen to you and actually wants to go on a journey with you to figure out how she can best give you answers. Dr. Alexander also is quite knowledgeable about endocrinology so I'd try her first before ever stepping foot into Dr Hsieh's office of a hell hole. I hope my review will spare you from wasting your time! I wish I didn't waste my time ever stepping foot in Dr Hsieh's office. I've been coming here for several years now, having switched from my previous endo in the south bay due to distance. I am considered subclinical hypo and on levothyroxine for several yrs now. Everytime i do go to see Dr. Hsieh, i only get the nurse pract, and everytime i explain my on-going symptoms, i am told that my blood work is within range and there's nothing i can do and it's all me. I almost feel like i am not getting through to them and at the point of looking for a second opinion now and perhaps another endo that can switch me to another medication. Answering questions and being extremely kind. My second visit was with the PA - well I call her DR Fong although she says call her Ellie, and she was so nice and helpful even though I was reluctant. I was referred here from my Dr. Because I've been struggling with some issues and they thought she could help with. What I got was Dr. Hsieh from the door telling me I don't know why they referred you here, like I was a complete waste of her time. She never came in shook my hand asked me about symptoms. I was referred to Dr. Hsieh by my primary physician. It was reasonably easy to make an appointment. The office is dingy and not what I would expect in a first-world country. Kind of like something you would expect if you went to a doctor in a second-world country. I know it is the LBC, but please. In my experience, Dr. Hsieh does not actually see patients. I was seen both times I was there by the physician assistant. I have no idea if Dr. Hsieh actually reviewed my chart or was in the office. Saw this doctor years ago. She was dismissive and treated me like I was a hypochondriac. Only reason I would review this now is I just found an email she wrote to my referring physician at the time. She basically said I had anxiety or a panic disorder and said my current labs were normal. Somehow she missed or ignored that when I was taken by ambulance to the ER after syncope my sugars were extremely low. She further didn't care at all about the symptoms I was experiencing. I talked to the P.A. (?) / Nurse (?) before the visit with the Dr. She was very nice and a good listener. The Dr. breezed in, told me she knew my former endocrinologist and said how good he was. Then she reluctantly listened to me (I had to say well what about this? to stop her from running out). I got one phone call to tell me the tests were fine (no copy of the results) and was told to come back in a year. Pretty minimal care for a new patient. I'm back to trying to find another Dr. who will give me more than 5 mins. and try to really help with my symptoms. read more

Update on this Doctor: I had my last 3 blood work faxed to their office. However when I called back to make an appt. the receptionist said my test didn't show any thyroid problems. I told her I heard there were other ways to detect thyroid issues and it does run in my family. She said 'no the 2 test done is the only one the doctor uses.' I then said, 'well I was concerned that other hormonal problems may exists and making me feel this way.' She said to go back to my other doctor and have her give me a 'hormone panel test' because This doctor does not do any testing. What? She just let's someone else do the work then writes a script out for you? I have never heard of a so-called Specialist have a regular GP try to figure out if you have something wrong for sure before the Specials sees you. Why would my GP suggest I see an Endocrinologist if she had to do all the testing first. This person can't be for real. What a tarnish to her name and so-called specialty. read more

Dr. Hsieh dropped my levothyroxine level from 137 mcg to 125 mcg after my thyroidectomy in 2013. This resulted in a suicidal feeling coming over me. I went back to her office & told her about it. She said it had to stay at 125 mcg because the labs were coming out better. She would check when I came back. I said if a suicidal feeling comes back over me, then I might not be here to come back. To Dr. Hsieh my case was all about a number, she forgot there was a person with a complicated illness attached. I immediately found another doctor. Im really really disappointed with this doctor, a doctor who only depends on her laptop looking for numbers, she doesnt know how to listen to her patients about their symptoms. And she dont even assess her patient even checking the pulse rate or use the stethoscope with patient complaining of palpitations. She cant even put down her laptop and check her patient if the neck is swelling, any edema on the extremities or tremors. I have been wanting to write this review for the last several months. I have been going to Dr. Hsieh for many years. I have always found her to be extremely attentive, caring and patient. She always takes her time, asks me questions about my general health, reviewing lab work and going over any concerns I might have. The last visit I had the pleasure of going to her new office, which is clean and spacious. Dr. Hsieh spent 30 minutes with me which is unheard of in the medical community. I've been Dr. Hsieh's patient for more than 10 years. Am I an easy patient. No, but I do think the world of this physician despite my Type 1 diabetic challenges. I am very fortunate in many ways. Dr. Hsieh is an excellent physician, she is very straightforward but caring at the same time. She will not mince words and she is very astute when analytically looking at the make up of your disease. She always answers my questions and does her best in dealing with our varying points of view. She's always pleasant and thorough in her visit and she's patient, which is not easy and often she will meet me half way in the decision making process when needed. She also works well with the rest of my Doctor Dream Team, communicating with them when necessary. I feel very fortunate to be treated by Dr. Hsieh (even though we've not always agreed on my course of treatment (pump no pump, 24 hour monitor vs. not). She is always there for me and I do appreciate that. She is a great Endocrinologist and worth seeing if you want great endocrine care and if you want to live a long healthy life despite having diabetes or a thyroid issue. Her office team is great! this is based only on the office staff since it was impossible to make an appointment with dr hsieh....i have a new primary care dr and she referred me to dr hsieh for possible cushing's which is an endocrine issue. first time i called i can tell the girl was annoyed for who knows what reason. she asked why i want to see the dr i told her and she said she needs labwork from primary and she doesn't know if i wanna bother making an appointment because theyre three months out. i call my pcp and they fax over whatever. i call again and i get a different rude girl and she says the paperwork is not enough she needs more. i call my pcp and they called them and told me to call AGAIN. i call again and they ask me why im going and i again answer then they said they only see patients that are diabetic or looking for weight management! could have told me that a month ago but thank goodness i didnt end up going to that disaster of an office i cant imagine the dr part of it! read more
