Pros- responds very quickly and was on time. Negatives- definatly price gauging. All he had to do was take off the latch and handle that had our door stuck. Did a favor for someone and helped them out with a car. Got towed and didn't tell me and found it at the tow yard business a month later. Great, but no keys. It was early in the morning so I was hoping to get to the tow yard when they opened. Mike responded quickly when I put out my call and it was early in the morning. We get to the place at the appointed time, and they aren't there. He calls and asks and they say they will be in there in 30-45 min. I felt bad because I could see he was tired. But he stayed til then. I went and got some coffee and came back. They didn't show up til almost another 30 min. Then we had to wait for the tow guy to move it out. Mike was really patient and finally was able start to work on the car. I had to go to an appointment and he said go, and offered to bring me the key when he we done. I knew I'd be back with in 30 min. Sure enough, I come back and he was still working. Finally got the key made and even got me the code to the car for keyless entry. He had worked with me on a price for key, but because of all the non-sense from the tow folks and him having to work in the hot sun for for two hours. I gave him his original quote and then some. In the mist of all this pandemonium, I forget to get the glove compartment key made too, but will definitely call him back. Cool, Calm, Collect, unassuming and customer service oriented. The lever on my front door handle was sticking so I tried to lube it and in the process it seized up. I had to take the lock off to troubleshoot and then couldn't get it back on. I called HS to get a quote and got a call back saying the guy was on his way. I asked for an estimate and he said there was a $49 trip charge plus labor, depending on the kind of lock. I sent him pictures and he quoted me $150 which I thought was too much but I needed it done so I agreed. The tech was not a pleasant fellow but not rude either. It took him no more than 10 minutes to get the lock back together and then he told me the key was bad so that's why you have to jiggle it to get it to work. I've used the same key for 30 years and never had a problem with it before. Rather than try to do any further troubleshooting to earn his $150, he just left it at that. Pros: Very quick response time. Did the job as required. Cons: Somewhat surly tech. Did the minimum required. Very pricey for the amount of work done. read more

The only one who's got a 4-star rating out of the 4 locksmiths that I called (the other 3 have 5 stars) who answered the phone and actually got the job done. My neighbor locked herself out at 12:30am and drained her phone battery so I helped her get a locksmith. Michael (I think was his name) answered the call and arrived in 15mins. It was $175 but at least my neighbor was able to get inside her house and sleep on her bed. UPDATE: I initially gave a 4-star rating just because of the price (and because I normally don't give 5 stars unless I have tried the service a lot of times or I'm super impressed the first time). But thinking about it again, and after Michael telling me I followed the other's footsteps, I realized he still deserve a 5-star rating compared to the others. My Keys to my car was lifted and my car was stolen. Lucky it was spotted but in one of the worst places in town! No sign of the people that stole it or my keys, so the police just removed it off the hot sheet and left! Mike, the owner of HS Locksmiths came out practically on a moment's notice to remove a key that had broken off inside the lock on my mom's front door. Not only was he quick but he also lubed the inside locking mechanisms, making the lock as smooth as it was when it was first installed years ago! The first locksmith that I called stated that the entire locking case might need to replaced being that it was aged, but Mike simply said that it just needed a lube and he was exactly correct and he didn't even charge me for that! Understanding that this was an emergency call, the price was more then fair. He even made copies of the key that was broken right there onsite! My fault is that I initially called another locksmith. THEN he tried to charge me another $1,000 to replace those locks. Locks that go for $10 a piece at Home Depot! Hmm... $180 for me to go and buy my own or $1,000 for the exact same locks!?!?! I'm lucky to be in a situation where I'm financially stable, and although $220 is a lot of money, I can still pay rent and have food on the table. I don't play games with my money. When I call for a service I expect to get all the information not scammed. They want $29 just to come to your house. They quote a low price over the phone. Then add $40 to the price when they get there. Sorry no thanks. Then the guy threatens me when I refuse to pay, because I am not about to be taken advantage of, saying they know my address, phone number etc. Oh an their deifinition of fast response is not fast. It's "I'll be there in 25 minute" then "I'll be there in 10 no 15 minutes." How are you going to charge a $29 fee when you can't be somewhere in the time you say you will be there. Oh and before the owner try's to blast me on here. He claims the price he gave me was a starting price for a door knob when I told him repeatedly on the phone that I didn't need the door knob I needed the deadbolt unlocked. FYI a starting price is not a quote. A starting price is low brow way of saying I'm gonna take advantage of you. I neededto have a keyless remote programed to a Cadillac. It recommends a dealer do this because special tools are needed. I put a request on Yelp that went to 10 locksmiths. HS Locksmith was the first to reply. We set a time and Michael was in contact came to my wife's work and successfully programed the Caddilac to the new remote. Michael is a professional and does great work. Right after, he contacted me to make sure all was food. Excellent customer service. BTW. A day later only 3 more contacted me out of the 10. read more

The first time I tried to work with this local vendor their assessment of what I needed was excessive. The second time, just yesterday, the tech showed up and argued with the resident that "its just an old lock". This despite my asking for a new cylinder that be keyed to match the residents key. Instead of replacing the cylinder he told her that she just has to live with it. He then wanted to collect a $49 service fee (fine) and $75.00 for "repair". The Tech kept trying to reach me to collect payment before I received feedback from the resident. Thankfully, I was armed with the facts BEFORE I took his call. He "waived" the "repair fee". He had the gall to ask "Do you think I can fix with magic?" To which I responded: Do not insult my intelligence. If I were there I would pull the cylinder and take it to Home Depot or ACE as either could replace the cylinder or reset the pins." I reported this to the owner of HS Locksmiths and told him that such behavior would negatively impact their reputation. His response "Do not call us anymore".
