And that made it impossible to obtain license plate stickers for a car that wasn't itemized on the bill. I thought this would be a supreme red-tape disaster. There were just two ahead of me. When my number was called, the woman knew exactly how to get everything straightened out. When she printed out my 2012 personal property declaration, it was the 2010 form, and the cars listed were absolutely correct -- for 2010. What a mix-up. And there was my signature with the date of January 23, 2010. Amazing that this became my 2012 form, 'cause all over the top of the form was 2010 in BIG print. Well, mystery solved in a manner of minutes. I had with me the titles to the cars I DO own. She corrected my 2012 personal property tax receipt for what I owned on January 1, 2012, printed it out for me (to get the license renewal that prompted all of this), and said I'd get a partial refund. WOWEE!! And she updated my current owned vehicles for the 2013 declaration. In and out in about 20 minutes, allowing 10 minutes for the wait. No charge for anything!

I, unfortunately, did not think quite so far ahead, and instead found myself going to the County Department of Revenue to hand it in personally over lunch. Now, if they were going about this logically, they would put a little basket on the counter and call it done. Instead, me and the other people who came in for the same purpose were waiting for the single person working at the time to finish helping other customers. And then when we gave her our tax slips, she just took them and put them in a pile. And I totally understand that she actually had to do he job, but seriously, how hard is it to just set up a basket with a sign? I am not going to give them just one star, since in general, after I was done waiting forever, the people who have helped me have been perfectly competent. That said, there *never* seem to be enough people there to handle the load. Also, there's a little sign up that shows the current terror alert level. And that just seems kind-of superfluous in a suburban Missouri strip mall.

Today I went to the Chesterfield post office with 40 small boxes and was told I could only have 10 of them at one time handled by the woman behind the counter and then I would have to go back in line and have 10 more done. Then get back in line again and again. I have never been told this before at any post office and I have been mailing these boxes for many years . Today, the female employee who was assisting me, and I use that word, assisting loosely, started out by making a face when I told her the boxes weren't already marked with postage. That's when she informed me that she could only handle 10 of them because @it's a busy post office".. There was no one in line behind me when she started and 3 customers waiting when she finished. When she did finish, they were 3 emojis that came up on the screen - a smiley face, a frowny face and an indifferent face. Before I could react, she tapped on the smiley face and went onto the page where she needed my credit card. She thought I didn't see her do that I remarked that if I wanted to give her a good review, I would've done that myself. The lack of good service at this post office was stunning.
