The Chamber of Commerce is very active and sponsors a local Affton Days Parade and Festival every year. There is a nice mix of long time residents and young families. (However, I'm amazed at how impatient some people can be!) Most of the employees are pretty friendly. If you get one with attitude, try to keep in mind that 6 days a week, they deal with a lot of people who have no idea what they are doing with their packages. There is a drop-box inside for packages if you have taken care of your shipping online. This location also has a self-serve kiosk. The blue drive-up mailboxes are located in the parking lot behind the building. Speaking of parking lots, this one can be dangerous. Including the post office, there are a few quick-stop businesses in this little shopping center: Starbucks, a cupcake place, and a barber shop. People are constantly backing out of spaces and flying through the lot. So, use extreme caution.

I've been in there the past three weeks FOUR times to get my passport updated. Half the time there…read morewas no passport agent on duty during their posted hours. Today I went in during their 'walk in' hours and was informed that they were booked the rest of the day. I was the ONLY person in there. I had all my documentation on hand, filled out and just waiting to be signed. The 'passport agent' on duty told me they were booked and she could not assist. When there were NO OTHER CUSTOMERS IN THE FACILITY! I addressed the sign on the wall which showed the times for walk in appointments. This government employee would not budge. In the time she was arguing with me, my passport submission could have been completed. This facility does not provide service, they cultivate laziness and seem to relish in it. Avoid this hell-hole at all costs.

There is a large parking lot out front, and designated parking spots for curbside orders and book drops. Upon entering the inside I noticed how new, clean and organized this branch looked. They have a display stand with flyers of upcoming events and resources. They have plenty of seating, computers, and quiet areas you can utilize. The kids library is sectioned off in its own separate area of the library. The librarians were so kind and helpful. They got me together as i misplaced my library card! Since this is my go-to branch, I know where to go. First stop is the new released. I usually get a max of two and pick up the rest I find from the regular stacks. Head upstairs to the fiction and mystery and found a light read and the next two murder/mysteries in a series I am reading. I can't miss a stop by the cookbooks; I picked out two new Mediterranean books and two by celebrity chefs. All done. I love self-check-out! You just set the books on the pad, scan your card, select done and you are good to go. My library bag was heavy today!
