I visit a number of different post offices for work, and this one is my favorite. You take a number when you arrive, and apart from Christmas and lunchtime, they usually aren't too busy. (However, I'm amazed at how impatient some people can be!) Most of the employees are pretty friendly. If you get one with attitude, try to keep in mind that 6 days a week, they deal with a lot of people who have no idea what they are doing with their packages. There is a drop-box inside for packages if you have taken care of your shipping online. This location also has a self-serve kiosk. The blue drive-up mailboxes are located in the parking lot behind the building. Speaking of parking lots, this one can be dangerous. Including the post office, there are a few quick-stop businesses in this little shopping center: Starbucks, a cupcake place, and a barber shop. People are constantly backing out of spaces and flying through the lot. So, use extreme caution. read more

I've been in there the past three weeks FOUR times to get my passport updated. Half the time there was no passport agent on duty during their posted hours. Today I went in during their 'walk in' hours and was informed that they were booked the rest of the day. I was the ONLY person in there. I had all my documentation on hand, filled out and just waiting to be signed. The 'passport agent' on duty told me they were booked and she could not assist. When there were NO OTHER CUSTOMERS IN THE FACILITY! I addressed the sign on the wall which showed the times for walk in appointments. This government employee would not budge. In the time she was arguing with me, my passport submission could have been completed. This facility does not provide service, they cultivate laziness and seem to relish in it. As a business in the Kirkwood area , we go days with not seeing a mail carrier , not just delivering our mail but Nobody in the building. There's a worker who works here, by the name of Tracy, who's extremely rude. She's short, condescending, and unhelpful when you ask for her help. However, the actual Post Office is very clean and spacious, and the lines move pretty quickly (when Tracy isn't manning the lines). My local post office is good with good people, Its the KC area post service that is the problem, All packages not shipped via priority mail are apparently set aside for days. They circle the KC area for days. Example A package sent from KC area to go 40 miles away, has been and still in the KC area after 7 days. Management or worker issue or both. Even poster workers from other areas have noticed the problem in the KC area, but managers cant see it? or just don't care? No desire for improvement when the Gov bails you out and your in charge of your own pay hikes. Postal rates have been climbing faster then food and service form the big city areas have fallen faster then anything on the market. They all keep saying short on employees, BS. read more

Ya know what sucks about usps is under staffed locations, bitter employees, and government run entities??? They are overworked, short staffed, and don't care. On multiple occasions it is apparent this location. Needs help. So I felt for their employees... until they don't do their job, don't care, and just rude...oh and cost you $$$. The old man literally doesn't care, and said we are short staffed sorry I didn't scan your package file a claim. Except I can't file a claim. If you have a drop off stand in that line get documentation. They have kiosks that I was just made aware of. Drop your package off here and get documentation so you have that paperwork. I always do that at ups, but they made me feel like I was a bother at this location and I can drop if in the box. I don't understand these 1 star ratings.I've lived in this area for many years. This postal office has always been great for the postal needs of my friends, and my family. Never had a single problem at this location. I have only experienced wonderful service from all of the staff. Especially during poor weather and holidays. What bothers me is how entitled some people are expecting to receive 20 star service when the usps is under staffed due to weather or other factors. Obviously people understand that when you come to any usps during holidays or late in the day to expect delays or a long wait in line. Because that's life. The usps staff do what the job requires to help you, to send out your gifts, to send out your packages or returns etc, and theses usps staff are not being rude or disrespected because they are just doing the best they can with things out of their control, like delays or lost packages etc. Which is why I am trying to say now a big THANK YOU to USPS for doing this job and not reacting to arrogant, selfish adults who happen to be more impatient than toddlers. DO NOT MAIL ANYTHING YOU DON'T MIND GETTING LOST! Our mail gets delivered to the wrong address and we receive other peoples mail on a regular basis. The last 4 checks I mailed were lost, a large package was lost, a registered mail was delivered to the wrong address and my last letter which was a car title has been lost. It was send certified return receipt with tracking. It never left St. Louis. I tried putting in a complaint, but that is impossible. I went to the post office and honestly they don't care. I was told just because I mail it doesn't guarantee it will get delivered. What?! Unless it's sent express and if it's lost you can get a refund. All the other stuff you will not. My wife and I came to this location to renew passports for our kids. Worst experience ever. We left in frustration. However, I want to make this place so busy that the lazy workers behind the counter are inundated with passport applications. 1. Fill out respective forms in entirety. 2. Have COPY of both parents drivers license front and back 3. Have COPY of birth certificate 4. Have ORIGINAL birth certificate 5. Two passport photos 6. Have old passport on hand 7. After an awful and stressful experience I have had at the Crestwood post office, I decided to give this place a try and have never looked back since. The best thing is, they haven't lost any of the packages I've mailed unlike the other post office branch! I've mailed stuff all over the US and even to some remote parts of Norway and every single one of them made it with no issues. The place is fairly organized but can become quite congested at all hours of the day. They have some friendly employees that are pretty easy going and might even make some small talks with you if they're not too busy and of course, the typical "not so nice" ones but overall, I've had a good experience during each visit. You take a number and get in line when you first come in and listen for your number to be called or look at the little display. Otherwise, they have mailing kiosks inside the building. They go through the line fairly quickly unless they have a patron who needs several things. I've always been in and out in 5 minutes or less. The longest time, of course, was due to the fact that I still had to fill out a custom form for an international mail. They were helpful and didn't even make me go through the line again. In summary, it's a smaller post office with a few employees and granted we all love to hate on post offices, this place is actually not so bad and if you are stressed from your experience, you can always run inside the cupcakery and buy yourself a treat or stop by Starbucks and get yourself something nice! If I could give "0" stars I would. I have tried to use this Post Office because it is convenient a few times but I will drive further to never use this post office again. Staff is so rude! Today was the last straw as we tried to update a passport. The woman training another woman is so rude. So she is teaching rude is ok. There is a woman who works here named Tracy-she is SO beyond rude even when met with kindness. I'm in this PO 2-4 times a week shipping packages. I have been the victim of her hatefulness and I've seen her abuse others. There is NO reason for her to be so rude, belligerent and mean. I wish it was possible to give this Kirkwood Post Office a negative star. I do not believe that the employees at this location have even the basic understanding of customer service. I can't tell you how many bad experiences I have had. These days I usually frequent the Des Peres Post Office and receive much better service. Today I had to go into the Kirkwood Post Office to complete a mail hold request card. The two lady employees were talking loudly about a previous customer... soooo unprofessional. I asked a man for two vacation hold cards since I have another vacation coming up. He said that I can only have one. It was suggested to go online in the future or go to the Taylor Avenue location. I've had 2 interactions now with Tracy at the Kirkwood post office related to a passport for my son. She refused to accept any of the photo identification I have provided her, including his recently expired passport along with a photo student ID. These are listed as acceptable on the government website and even on the application itself. Today, when I asked her to refer me to the list so she could show me that what I had given her was unallowable, she said, "I don't have to show you anything." When I asked for a supervisor, you said "are we going to settle this here or do we need to go elsewhere". It felt very threatened by her made worse by the fact that it was in front of my son who was visibly shaken by the entire interaction. This is the third time I've encountered Tracy and had a bad experience with her. I try to avoid this post office at all costs unless it's extremely convenient for me. She is so rude. Does she get a commission off customers buying tape??? She said I didn't tape my label down enough. Every other post office says just tape down the two sides of the slip. Another customer ran after me saying how rude she was to her and that she made her buy tape. This customer kindly let me borrow her tape so it was up to Tracy's taping standards. read more

Each one has a major chip on their shoulder. They also go out of their way to make no eye contact (unless it's to give patrons the stink-eye) and speak so quietly no one could possibly hear them. Seriously, this situation is chronic. Clearly there is NO management that cares to train even one of the employees. We were treated so RUDELY by one of the workers at this location. We came in for passports, unaware that you needed an appointment. The employee was so rude in informing us we needed to go online and make an appointment and that they don't do same day appointments. Such a rude and terrible person. All of the people in the lobby felt bad for me and my 2-year old daughter and were calling out tonis as we skunk out the door "go to the library, sweetie, they will help you." We went to Kirkwood libraryvand they were so nice and helpful. They helped us same day and did not make us feel stupid at all. We had the most awful experience dealing with the US Post office in Kirkwood. We waited 6 weeks for an appointment for our children's passports and had everything organized for 3 children. We simply didn't know hard copies of our drivers licenses were needed. Easy solution, help us make a copy. A women named Tracy was rude, unhelpful, and made me question why our tax dollars pay for employees like this. She would not allow us to copy our drivers license or run next door and make copies. It was unacceptable how she treated my wife. And of course we all took off work and pulled kids from school to try and accomplish what we needed to accomplish today. She should be fired. Oh wow this place is bad. For all my future mailing and shipping needs, I'm avoiding this location. If you're curious, there is a UPS right up the street. However, sometimes you just have to use the USPS. The lines are typically long and the staff seems to be inefficient. Sitting in line is the worst anywhere...but it feels extra bad here. They absolutely could not care less. I arrived 10 min early for our appointment for 3 passports and find out I filled out a section wrong on my kids forms plus was supposed to have copies that I didn't. Which was fine - totally my fault - he says they have the forms and there's an office max down the road. So I start refilling the forms out while my husband runs down the road to get copies made that we needed. This entire time I'm there getting all the info together, in front of both of the workers who could have at any time said something - but when we have everything complete we go up to the window and she says I only have time to do 1 passport, I have another appointment soon. Why in the world did not one of them say that in the first place?! The lady goes to her co-worker "you didn't tell her?" and he just shakes his head no. Not one word or explanation. Complete incompetence and lack of consideration. Why would you not just say up front, hey we have another appointment after you and probably won't get to all of your applications. I would have understood and left to reschedule instead of trying to rush to fill everything out and running around getting copies. I downloaded this app because of how horrible Tracy is. I am not surprised to read that many others have had issues with her. I am surprised that so many people have and yet they do not fire her. She is rude and acts like you have ruined her day just by coming in to mail something. She gives vague and unclear instructions and acts like you are stupid for not understanding them. There is no doubt in my mind that she should be fired. The other workers seemed like they had a long day but they did not let this make them act unpleasant. The only thing I can says that is positive about this location is that they have 2 self-service machines. Even if there is no line, I prefer to use the machines because the employees (one in particular that another reviewer mentions below) typically act like they'd rather you not be there at all.
