I had a really positive experience here in early January 2025. I needed to get handicap placards for my father. I had the physician's note and the notarized application and a photocopy of my father's driver's license. The woman processed it in record time and I walked out with what I needed. I appreciate it! If I could give zero stars, I would. On April 30, 2025, I visited the West County DMV on Manchester with my 12-year-old son to get him a REAL ID--something Missouri law clearly allows for minors. What happened next was appalling. We were yelled at, publicly humiliated, and misinformed by multiple staff members. One clerk (DG4368) aggressively insisted my son wasn't eligible and began screaming at us in front of a crowded office. When I calmly explained that I believed she was mistaken, she shouted, "I wasn't yelling at you--but now I am!"--and continued screaming until her own supervisor had to ask her to leave. Later, another clerk (DG2826) also raised her voice, telling me I "deserved to be yelled at" simply for asking for clarification on my son's documentation. This behavior is completely unacceptable--especially in a government office serving the public. The only person who acted professionally was Supervisor Rebecca (DG6582), who apologized and attempted to resolve the issue. However, the damage had already been done. This experience was traumatizing for both me and my child. We were denied services we were legally entitled to, forced to make multiple trips, and subjected to emotional abuse by state employees. I have since filed a formal complaint with the Missouri Department of Revenue and other oversight agencies. Parents, families, and everyday citizens deserve to be treated with respect. This office desperately needs retraining and oversight. I'm speaking out so no one else has to go through what we did. read more

This was the best experience I've had at a license office. Went mid afternoon on a Tuesday to renew a driver's license. Facilities were clean and spacious. Well-organized, take-a-number system (unlike some other license offices.) Plenty of places to sit. Plenty of friendly clerks. In and out in less than 15 minutes. Highly recommend. read more

When you get to the location it states they are only open the first and last Saturday of the month. I wasted my time because I went on the second Saturday not knowing this information. I had a lovely transaction and a very small wait. You go in, you get a number for your car or for other. I was called quickly. I had all my peas in a pod. All my paperwork in order. I got my two-year license plate renewal. I always put my stickers on, slice them with a EXACTO-Knife, then cover them with clear-coat nail polish. It's the safe thing to do. read more

They were open until 2pm yesterday, unlike the other offices, which are either not open on Saturdays, or close earlier, at noon or 1 PM. The people working there were efficient, friendly, and were able to help me right away. One of them (not the one who helped me) was a retired postal worker, busted 2 stereotypes. EDIT: I just found out from someone who should know, that the hours of that office will be cut on Saturdays. They will close at noon. I do not know about other offices. BTW, as far as I know, the only Saturday hours for any of these offices are on the last Saturday of the month. read more

I know the DMV is not supposed to be the most enjoyable experience, but the people working at this location seem like they enjoy sucking the life out of others. These employees were the least helpful people I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. The roof was caving in due to the downpour outside and fellow sufferers had to help move an elderly lady out of the way so the ceiling didn't collapse on her. There was only 8 people in front of me in line and somehow it took 3 hours to get to my simple license renewal. When it was finally my turn to go up to the counter, they made me feel like I was a prisoner of Jabba the Hut, about to be dropped into the sarlacc pit. I now consider this location a hellhole, where happiness goes to die. I would recommend driving 30 min to an hour to avoid having any interaction with this group of terrible people. Going in I'd say my mood was an 8/10, leaving was an easy 2/10 with severe depression. read more

BEST DMV IN THE STL AREA! I had to register my new car, transfer plates for my sons car and register my daughters new car after she totaled her old one. The ladies that helped me were so patient, helpful, and most of all saved me money by providing me options! Headed back up there soon to help my mom register her car! read more

The good folks at Ballwin DMV seriously need to post a sign on which door to enter - They have THREE doors. The one you would think is the entrance looks very dark and dingy/dirty or as though it's vacant inside. Every person after us tried door #1: locked, then door #2: locked, until trying this door. Hope this review helps someone :) Other than the door issue, people were helpful & friendly and renewing a driver's license went fairly quickly at 7:45 am on a Thursday. read more

Out of seven people working, two (and sometimes only one) employees are working the license line. The others are chatting and waiting for customers who need plates (four of which arrived in the almost two hours I waited.) And then I was told the documents I had, which had previously been approved by another employee, were not going to work for the real ID. Though they let at least one person get one in front of me who didn't have a birth certificate that had the seal. This place is utter incompetence. read more

Worst license office I've been to in St.Louis. They hire people who have no idea how to do the job.

I realize this is a license office and not a 5 star hotel, but the service and attitude here was horrendous. The wait was long but that was expected. The automated check in was good, and it allowed me to go run errands while I was waiting. Once I got to the counter to renew my plates, things went south real quick. The mid-twenties girl that helped me hated life and made sure to make me aware of it. The first snide comment, was about how I was late to renew.... None of you business. The second snide comment, was about how I didn't bring my property tax receipts....Extremely easy to check online, and every other office has done this for me no questions asked. The third snide comment/lecture was about why the car was still registered in my wife's maiden name..... None of your business but I still had to get a copy of my marriage certificate to show her even though it was obvious it was the same person (never had this issue before in 2 previous renewals). The fourth snide comment was that "it shouldn't take 20 mins to renew plates," insinuating that I was the jerk.... Really! They should rename this license office "Female Dogs on Duty" aka B***hes. read more

Unpleasant & unproductive experience. After waiting in the queue for 30 minutes, the DMV employee makes erroneous statements about my insurance card, errors on personal property tax file (name misspelled, which made the lookup unsearchable ?), and unable (twice) to process registration renewal. Horrible, unsurly, negative attitude. Undeserved - I was direct but polite. Note: I provided the exact same documentation to Creve Coeur DMV, which completed my registration process successfully in just a few minutes, with a great customer service attitude. Seems to be a high variation in the delivery/execution of processes in the Missouri DMV offices. Need Mgmt attention - better on-boarding, training, and standardized processes. Just measuring (auditing) would be a good start. read more

So went to the bank and got the bill of sale notarized only to be told I would have to come back the day before my DMV scheduled inspection. Went there 3 separate times on 3 consecutive days. All were over 3 hour waits and I had to get to work. Took me over a week to get my license. Slow and unmotivated workers and poor spread of resources as the line for licenses is 3+ hours and the line for plates is usually 10 minutes. I was shocked to go to the reviews for this location and see it had TWO stars. Very surprising. Indirectly, that facility is our tax dollars at work. It's a pitifully run, pitifully staffed and a broken, tired facility. I live less than a mile from this place and I've been going there and putting with with the BS for years. Today was my last visit. There is another facility in Pacific, about a 20 minute drive from home and that is my new "go to" spot. I'll go there where I can understand the staff, where the inside has been swept and the chairs don't look like they came from someone's camp fire. Text message waiting system here is a joke. You should always add 45 minutes to whatever it initially tells you. Then, once you get over that you have a really long wait, the clerks are SO RUDE! Not helpful and super snotty if you have any problems. Last month, I accidently brought my future car insurance card (effective date started in a week). The older lady acted like I was trying to defraud the State! Only after I was embarrased for several minutes and scrambling to try to figure how to fix this does she tell me that she can look up the information. WTH! Today, a young girl clerk (dark hair) was extra snotty about my paperwork - I brought everything I needed to! These people need to learn about Customer Service! I had all of my paper work paper clipped together and was at the office at opening. Instead of helping the clients like myself at open, one lady with curly hair ignored clients while the other lady was sweeping. At 7:40 they begin assisting clients. When it was my turn the lady was so hateful, obviously she was not a Morning person or having a bad day but regardless, she was so rude tore my papers apart aggressively and questioned everything. I just needed to renew my plates it's simple. I'm well aware not everyone that works in customer service needs to be Mary Sunshine at 7:30am but how about manners and possibly a smile?!
