They're about twice as expensive as the lowball and juuuuust under the most expensive quote I received for what sounded like little more than shooting hot water onto a house to wash away spider webs. They only did the outside and when I asked him about going inside he said that is appliance issue. My husband ended up purchasing brushes on Amazon and cleaned the vent out from inside, which in turn made him have to clean it out from the outside again. He also figured out a way to upgrade our older wireless thermostat to do what we wanted without requiring wiring. He showed us all of the work he was doing as he was doing it and did not charge suggest or charge for anything unnecessary. The pricing was fair and transparent, and his expertise in HVAC was clear. They were able to come out very soon after my initial request, and all communication was prompt and friendly. In related news, I later found out that asking adding a surcharge for debit transactions is actually illegal per U.S. Federal law. Good to know. (https://usa.visa.com/dam/VCOM/download/merchants/surcharging-faq-by-merchants.pdf) You might bring this up when they attempt to do charge you for a debit card, which my agent did. They can charge up to 3% for credit cards. Nevertheless, the good folks are the office were very nice about reversing the double-charge. I am waiting to see when it comes through. Pro's - Basic work seemed to be done well and at a price that was competitive with others I contacted at least for the basic service. - Communication was prompt. - After some re-scheduling on their part, the team did the work swiftly and efficiently. - Most of the terms were clear in advance, using Yelp Projects. Con's - This is a fairly shiesty corner of the home maintenance world. Many providers seem to give you a low-ball estimate to get in the door and then upsell significantly. - Envirosmart is not an exception. - The initial quote was $200. This included scoping the ducts and doing the negative pressure clean-out. - Onsite, they then upsold me to $670 for a more thorough brushing of the vents, sanitation, and some other ancillary services. - They were only modestly well-organized. They called the day-of to reschedule because of a conflict with internal training. They also confirmed a different time than I had originally scheduled. It was the difference of a 9 to 11am original window and a 2:30-3pm arrival. - The Yelp Project communication could have been clearer. They did not specify whether they were calling to quote me or coming to do the service! Amid all this and with some clarification and flexibility on our part, we worked it out. I would have appreciated either a discount or additional service for the delay. None was proffered. I did not go ahead with the upsell as I had already gotten quotes for less from other providers with somewhat more transparent pricing. I think the work they did appeared fine. See attached pics. Your guess is as good as mine which are before and which are after! They did not specify when they sent them to me and email took off the timestamp. I'm hoping the cleaner ones. I probably will try another service when I do this again and with a higher rated provider. All in all, though, I had low expectations and those low expectations were met.

This time I shopped around and found a good rate from Skyline. Checked their business license, insurance, and LNI and they looked clean. So I gave them a shot. Scott came and spent about 2 hours working on our heat pump, furnace, and descaling our tankless water heater. He was very organized and had the right equipment for the jobs in his truck. Good sense of humor, but also good advice around how to best upkeep those systems in my house. I ended up getting a discount by purchasing this year's service and next year's together. Very happy with Skyline's work and look forward to using them for years to come.
