I never expect much when pulling off the highway to grab lunch or dinner. Howe Restaurant is amazing! Angelo, the owner and chef, greeted us as we came in. He arrives at 2:30 am to get the soup going. It's a tomato soup with orzo and Greek spices - it's amazing. Try the soup!!!! Our server, P, gave us samples since we'd never heard of it. Our dinners were all fresh and delicious. Angelo said he makes everything from scratch. You can taste it. The meats and desserts are delivered from Chicago, he's very selective about his ingredients. Highly recommend stopping by the next time you're on interstate 80. Warning - it will NOT be a fast stop, Angelo is very talkative. But it's totally worth it!!

Small family restaurant. Clean and well maintained. Appears to have employees that care. Lunch , I started with a cup of chili. Good not great , could have been hotter. Then a large salad with grilled chicken. Chicken was cold , so not fresh . Salad was very good and a large portion.

This is the PERFECT small town diner. We came off the toll road looking for breakfast and Howe Restaurant filled the bill. Table service was excellent and the food was very good. This is a small restaurant in a small town. I expect there's a wait on the weekends. Five stars.

We have heard nothing but great reviews about this place & looked forward to trying them! My husband picked up a pizza on his way home one evening and upon opening the box (at home)- the pizza looked strange. Literally half was cooked & half was undercooked. Toppings separated from the pizza crust. Very unappetizing and neither of us could finish. We called and were told that when my husband came in for breakfast the next day with a group- he would be refunded. Angelo was there and honored the refund & told us that next time we should ask for him to specifically make it. Unfortunately, we had no desire for another. My husband had a large breakfast & thought it was decent. Typical diner food. Recently at a family dinner, 3 more pizzas were ordered from here. While the pizzas actually seemed evenly cooked this time- we still didn't like them! We ended up with stomach aches. We have no desire to go back.

Not good enough to finish. Lousy fries!

This place was recommended to us not by a tourist but by a friendly relative of the Amish owner, Brenda Slabaugh (everyone in this settlement is close-knit). Like other in-home dining venues, the spacious room also serves as a social gathering and worship place for the Amish. Nearly everything in the huge kitchen is prepared from scratch and served family-style. The fixed menu includes bread, salad, chicken, roast beef, noodles, mashed potatoes, cooked vegetables, and assorted pies. Everything we tasted was phenomenal. Homemade peanut butter and jam, spread on fresh-baked bread, were ethereal. The 'colorific' salad was colorful indeed and tossed in a savory vinaigrette. White meat chicken fingers and dark meat were breaded and baked (not fried) to perfection. The beef (pot roast, perhaps) was fork-tender and juicy. All of the side dishes and pies were just as wonderful. Brenda and family members who helped her prepare and serve the meal were friendly and attentive to our needs, and happy to answer questions about Amish lifestyle and customs. Of course, a 'modern' restroom is available. This business is aimed at large parties and tour groups, but it's available to smaller parties on Wednesday evenings. Advance reservations are required

Great homemade food from wonderful people! Amazing hospitality. Also bought bread to take home.read more

She wore a black hoodie and had brown hair. Ok, don't need to be rude about it. No welcome or hi. We should have left then. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries, a side salad, side of Mac and cheese and a couple drinks. First, the Mac and cheese for $4 is a joke. It came in one of those containers you put a sauce in like ketchup, etc. $4! That's crazy. The worst part was the pulled pork sandwich. I'm not sure how they accomplished dry pork, but slathered with nasty mustard, grease, and apple cider vinegar. No hint of bbq sauce whatsoever. The grease with mustard was all over the plate leaking all over the fries. Really wish I took a picture. In the end we ate a few fries, paid our bill and walked out. Stopped at Arby's which actually had better service and food than here... if the owner reads this review, you need to check this waitress and the cook that worked the evening of 5/15.
